    I'll bet it was was with tire cleaner or armor all,trying to brighten the flat window rubber. Oh ya looks good wolf

    one guess is that they used armor-all on all the black trim and thats what reacted.

    Maco paint job. There's nothing wrong with that. Not all paint jobs have to be Barrett or SEMA. Just keeping the rig on the road looking good 👍

      Awesome. I want to show the good and the bad on this channel. I'm not going to cut something out just to make it seem like nothing ever goes wrong. Stuff happens, and if I can show how to deal with it. Hopefully, it can help someone else in the same situation

    For those plastics
    Sand them
    Hit them with adhesion promoter
    Then use raptor liner
    Or a similar product
    Rustoleum makes this product also
    Adhesion promoter is a must
    But it will last for years and years.

    My experience with fisheyes in the paint meant, oil on surface

    • @rockabillychavez
      @rockabillychavez  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not always, but yes, a lot of the time, it is oil or grease, but it can also be anything that doesn't agree with the chemicals in the paint or something used over the paint like in the case.

      There's a lot of silicone's in different products, that can give adhesion issues. I tend to wipe down everything with alcohol for the last tack.

    Brings back memories for me, my Dad was a Wholesale Dealer and we turned over vehicles weekly buying at auctions, fixing them up, and selling at other auctions or straight to dealers!! At least 1 per week, sometimes up to 3 per week!!

    RAIN-X glass treatment perhaps. Elbow grease for the cure. 👍
    As stated in the other comments, some of the trim conditioners are hydrophobic and UV protectants.

    Was surprised the first time I used implement paint, lol. Great stuff, hadn't seen the hardener before, great addition. Repainted my old work truck, K-30, (45 years ago! Lol!) With Rustoleum ! Had done some repairs & painted it the year prior, with good (expensive) auto paint... But rust spots, paint flake, etc came thru. Scuffed it good, wiped down & used a little electric Wagner spray this time, came out great & allowed me to keep repairing & touch ups for the next 20 years. But, sure great to know they are also making implement paint, & nice job !! Thanx !

  • @sirknight2402

    This is a guess .. If someone tried to recondition the plastic trim and that includes around the windows, products like Armor all have a bunch of silicone in them and will play havoc with a paint job and is real hard to get of but Just a guess .

    Reason i ❤ your channel. The great inexpensive ways to paint from home garage but not always perfect every time. Thanks for hints on how to fix the fisheyes and ripples in paint. Looks like a 10 thousand dollar paint job from 10 feet away and most importantly saves the metal from rust. Thanks you give us hope on how to keep our vintage and newer vehicles nice and shiny. I am painting my 1986 Ford F150 lariat next year with tractor supply paint.

    • @rockabillychavez
      @rockabillychavez  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @carlstephens-tm7zj I have in the past, and it always seems to irritate me more than help me. Sometimes, I feel you can get to carried away with trying too hard on things that don't really matter. My focus is always on laying the right amount of paint on and as uniform as I can do it. I have never touched the hose to the paint doing it this way, so It works for me. With that being said, is it the correct way? I'm honestly not sure. Do what works for you best, and thank you for the question.

    Working on someone else's vehicle without the known history is always a crapshoot. With the issue on the rear, maybe contamination from some silicon spray. I am wondering if using a steam cleaner while cleaning the vehicle before sanding would eliminate those fisheye problems. I have the Harbor Freight steam cleaner and it works great.

    Man, I wish I could have commented earlier. I used the Tractor Supply red paint on my Blazer and it was a disaster. The paint is tough but the pigment is trash. It faded out to pink in a year and you could not just cut and buff to get the oxidation off. Complete pigment failure, the truck had to be completely sanded back to bare and re-sprayed. Not worth it to use Tractor Supply red at any price, it doesn't last. Way too much work to have to do it twice.

    I know a guy over here.
    Is one of them know it all been there done that and knows how to do it better than anybody else. He's been working on a square body pick up for a year. Been sanding it for the last 6 months and he had nobody work to do to it it was already painted but he had to open his big mouth and say he could do it better. Had it for a year and he hasn't dropped one. Just primer. First it was because he didn't have a shop now he has one. Now it's too hot. Or is COPD kicking up he can't even paint a lawn mower.
    And this is my ex-wife's husband. Are we still get along I go over there every weekend and play pool I got a bar inside one of the shops karaoke setup stage for mics.
