Having no audience to play off of in the studio during COVID must've sucked big time but the "moment of silence" must've felt so so so so awkward in a funny way to them in the empty studio
Victoria Coren Mitchell said on the podcast she felt the silence in the studio was excruciating.
Season 10 felt so strange because of it, and I kinda love it for the totally different fever dream vibe.
Yet another thing the asinine stupidity of covid response destroyed.
@@louis559 At the same time it feels a lot more like they forgot that cameras are running in their interaction. They don't hold back when it comes to just giggling around - there are some great outtakes which explain why they are sometimes looking like they have just cried. Because they did - laughing.
In a similar way some QI episodes feel like a bunch of friends play an improvisation game - especially with James Acaster and Joe Lycett.

And he had the same reaction to his solo counting tasks of the first series haha
When they do Champion of Champions of Champions I want them to give him one more solo task for old times sake, though honestly he'd probably be looking for it by then.

@@stone5against1 That sounds wonderfully evil. Tell Josh it's a special , get him to record the tasks, tell him about the other contestants but there's no team tasks. And it's only when he gets to the studio record to find it's just him Greg and Alex reviewing his tasks and giving nil , zero, nothing, no points, and DQ's only.
Maybe even a deduction so he finishes the solo task master special on a minus number. Alex and Greg pick the prize tasks they like to keep, And then make Josh give back one of his trophies at the end. Might do irreparable mental damage to the poor man sure. I can't argue that point., But fuck it would make for some entertaining TV.

Watching Nish just utterly lose it when Mark was denied any points for the texting was wildly satisfying. I keep rewatching that scene just for Nish's reaction.

Watching Jonny Vegas fall over is probably the purest form of laughter I will ever get to experience. I love the man; he's hilarious, deceptively smart, and seems by all accounts to be a lovely person to be around. But watching that tumble just absolutely fills me with delight.
We're cut from different cloth. I winced.
Those years of practice making teapots have stood him in good stead.

@@2nd3rd1st , same. I am ADHD and autistic with dyspraxia / developmental coordination disorder. Dyspraxia is basically clinical clumsiness and commonly co-occurs with ADHD or autism.
Johnny Vegas was just diagnosed with ADHD this year, joining the ranks of Lee Mack, Rhod Gilbert, Russel Howard, Kiri Pritchard-McClean, Sue Perkins, Stephen Fry, and many other comedians who oscillate between incredibly brilliant and incredibly stupid.
We ADHDers are not ones for moderation. We go to extremes.

It was the funniest outcome though
Mark and Nish were so great. His reaction to Mark not getting points was a true friends reaction. And Sally giving him a hug was nice.
Mawaan and Johnny are two of my favourite contestants ever on this show purely for this task alone
So Greg Davies' strategy for the hand/mouth grape game was to just guess hand every time because the law of averages suggested that he'd get them all after 2 rounds
Surprised nobody noticed and just kept it in their mouth. Maybe they kept expecting him to finally guess mouth?
But how does that fit into the no-one gets a point category. 3 people succeed the first time and don't get more points than the people that failed first time... Outrageous

That's not how coin flipping works at all. For each of them there's a 25% chance after two rounds of guessing Hand that they'd have Won

Johnny Vegas falling over for no reason is still my favourite ever moment on Taskmaster.
Mawaan Rizwan is the most influential arguer in Taskmaster history. If he hadn't pointed out Daisy's throwing of the task onto the red green, the title of Taskmaster Champion, and of Taskmaster Champion of Champions, would have been altered.
I'm pretty sure they already had that ready and would have revealed it in the end.
They already had the compilation of everyone messing it up edited and ready to go which is why Alex said "we'll look at that later" after they'd shown everyone else doing the task. Really he just kinda spoiled the surprise by being observant.
So many tasks from series 10 could have made it into this one

For years now, I've watched Taskmaster as a stress relief in the background of whatever I'm doing. Weirdly enough, great content without plot makes my brain so very happy
Season 10 is my guiltily pleasure. It was such a crackhead energy thanks to covid and empty studio. Mowan egg moment is what made me laugh so hard I had to stop watching. It was my first season too. Watched two or three episodes and had to stop and go back from s1 and catch up.

The Decadent Sandwich task from season 4 should be on here. Everyone getting six points has the same effect as everyone getting zero. And it was an amazing performance from Mel.
Mel and Noel both got a bonus point, so they ended up with 7 and the rest with 6

These are the things that made the earlier seasons so good, the only thing like it in recent series was JK sabotaging task but that had a bearing on points
technically speaking, that final task never said that the grape had to STAY in your hand or your mouth, so putting it in your pocket might have been arguably allowed if he bothered to argue it
And so, all the contestants unknowingly (?) Imitated Gregs imitation of Chris Eubanks during the grapesegment.. :D

I still don't understand why Russel and Tim didn't get any points for that task. They both fooled the TM once and Tim even was the last one standing, so he should have gotten 5 points. Russel was 2nd, so he should have gotten 4.

Every 5 series they should make a champion of champions with all the past champions, and after 25 series they should make a champion of champion of champions with the winners of each champion of champions

@@naomismith1241 Champion of Champions II was released last year but I don't think the episode is viewable outside the UK, and there's only one episode
I still think that grape task is one of the worst scored ever. Tim should have gotten some points (if not the full 5) for outlasting the rest, including Russell since he was technically disqualified. I'm glad they handled this better in series 14
But he wasn't really the last standing but only last to do the challenge again because of the order, both Russell and Tim made it to round two meaning neither of them were the last standing. Tim would have won the points if Russell didn't fool the taskmaster the first time.
Watching these, I think there's a noticeable difference between the episodes that took place in front of a n audience, and those that didn't. When there's no audience, the cast is more subdued, and they don't know when a joke lands. Unfortunately, those pandemic episodes are just missing a certain energy that the other seasons had.

The one tiny downside with this show is that equal points means the same as no points. Only the relative difference in points matters, so this video should also have included all the times where all 5 tied, either with 5 points or any other number because it's exactly the same as zero.
Group tasks are almost worthless because they normally give one team 3 and the other team 2 or similar. So at best you get a 1 point advantage over two or three people.

In the grape task, the trick is to put the grape in your hand, but put something else in your mouth so it sounds like its in your mouth, then cover your mouth (use your hoody, hand or just turn around).
