There might have been some bias, but there was a lot of Rhod actually being funny and/or smart while they were complaining oh no they didn't actually do what the stupid task says to the letter in the game where they intentionally write the tasks to have multiple solutions if you can convince the taskmaster that it's valid.

The two angriest ones, James and Iain, are interesting. If it hadn't been for the fact that James had practiced the hula for so long but then messed up in the first couple seconds of the studio task, that conversation probably would've been much calmer. Doesn't matter. "After releasing your marble you may not touch your marble nor do anything to affect its movement." So, once you let go of it you can't do anything to affect it. He let it go when he placed it in the machine, then turned it on. It said nothing about the timer of it rolling. Also the challenge rules started when they said "Your time starts now." at the very start, so the letting go rule was already in play.

To be fair the task wasn’t worldly correctly. No such thing as a ventriloquist puppet. A ventriloquist dummy is a type of puppet sure, but it’s called a dummy.

Side note: there is a TRULY excellent documentary filmed by Nina Conti called "A Ventriloquists Story: Her Master's Voice" where she examines her own work as a ventriloquist, what it means to have that act-partnership with a puppet, etc.
A really lovely and revealing film (imo), I cannot recommend it enough.

The tasks where contestants think out of the box are the ones I love most. I absolutely hate the team tasks.

The team tasks only exist as a disguise for the times that they have tasks were someone must sabotage the team.... which are my favourites.

In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Iain was awful in the first few episodes. But then after watching one of the team tasks and seeing himself on screen being a dick to his teammates, he had an epiphany, apologised profusely and calmed right down. Although I hated him at the start he really grew on me. The opposite direction of travel to the one Lou Sanders took in that season.
