    1. You never touch the reins of a horse unless you are the one controlling the horse (as a horse owner)
    2. He is part of the Royal Guard (Palace Guard) and technically owned by the military.
    3. Its extremely disrespectful to touch anyone or anything in full military dress.
    4. She was probably an American tourist (I'm American)
    Its in the same category as being loud or obnoxious at our Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. She was in the wrong and the guards response was well justified.

      Original Pyrex was made of borosilicate glass. You could bake a pan in the oven, take it out and put it in the freeze and it wouldn't crack. When Corning sold the company in 1998 to World Kitchen LLC they started making it out of Soda-lime glass. Which is just regular glass.

    The Queen's Life Guard is one half of the Household (royal) Calvary regiment. It's an actual military formation, and beside their ceremonial duties and garb, they have modern cavalry training and equipment and duties. (they deploy, like Harry was in the other half the Blues and Royals and deployed to Afghanistan with them)
    The guys on foot are the Royal Foot Guards, the leading element of UK Infantry line units. Their weapons are real and LIVE AMMO.
    NO you cannot TOUCH THEM. NO they do NOT have to stand there and take abuse. NO you can NOT get in their way.
    1) Stand back from the Queen's Guard. (Shouted)
    2) Repeat
    3) They point their rifle at you and have a choice of arresting you themselves or calling the police to do so.
    Slight change, if you get in front them and block their path it's "Make way for the Queen's Guard."
    And remember ... he's got several hundred friends, with automatic weapons and armored personnel carriers a few hundred feet away.

    The glass has to be borosilicate, or some other type of glass that supports higher than normal (soda lime glass) thermal expansion. One of the main problems in the US/Canada is that Pyrex, the cookware brand most associated with glass cookware in North America USED TO make borosilicate cookware, but then they STOPPED doing that in the US and Canada in the mid/late 90s. Even though they still do it elsewhere. So people will buy Pyrex stuff, assuming it could handle the heat, but it can't. You need to buy non-pyrex, or old pyrex, in US/Canada.

They take their job very seriously, many people go there with the intent to take pictures and annoy them. Amber, the guillotine was used far more recently than you realize. The last time it was used in France was the same year Star Wars came out (1977).
    And the glass dish on the stove: the outside of the glass heats up more than the inside, causing a lot of stress to be built up inside of the glass itself. It eventually gets too much and it shatters.

    Glass cookware is real. Most are made with borosilicate glass, similar to pyrex Baking trays, so some glas ware can be used on the stove top. The problem probably was that she pour the "Garlic cubes in the pot'. If her brilliant idea was to mash garlic and freeze them in the shape of cubes, the moment she put them in the pot and cubes touched the hot glass, the difference in contraction and expansion within the glass can cause enough internal stress to make tha glass shatter in a fairly violent way.
    Look this title in youtube >
    "Glass bakeware that shatters (December 2010) | Consumer Reports"
    "Glass Cookware Review // Glass Pot Review / Cooking with a Glass Pot"
    That is also a risk with the glass lids of the cooking pots.
    When hot, DO NOT thermal-shock them by touching them with something cold.
    Greetings from colombia.

    The guard is working so touching them or their animal is not just disrespectful but also dangerous as both are capable of hurting you if they misinterpret your intentions. A lot of tourists have the impression that guardsmen are just actors hired to look official but they are doing their duty, so take pictures if it's allowed but don't touch, obstruct or harass them or they will punt you aside.

    Not only is the Queen's Guard part of the security, he's an actual military on guard duty.

    There are glass cookware that can withstand heat for cooking, but she fucked up by putting frozen garlic cubes in it while cooking😅 sudden temperature change like that will shatter the glass. Like how u never pour water on an overheated car engine. The metal will bend. Basic chemistry.

    Look up Pyrex. Its been around over 100 years and is glass cookware that is safe for heating including in the microwave and oven. But yes, be careful about glass items.

    Tempered glass can take some heat, but no glass can take that level of temperature gradient.

    Queens guard not excessive, they are literally there to guard the queen not for a photo chance for tourists

    • @aphextwin5712
      @aphextwin5712 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Their choice of uniform however is partially there to attract tourists (it is also there to ‘impress’ the locals).

    You should check out what it takes to be a Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They are authorized to use Lethal Force on people that disrespect the Tomb.

    • @rampage3337
      @rampage3337 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so are the queens guards and any guard defending something of high value. they have the right to do what ever it takes to defend what they are guarding. within reason of course as they do still need to have a real reason to attack. the guards att the tomb don't have permission to use lethal force on just anyone. there has to be a real reason to use it and it takes allot before they are allowed to do so. you are far more likely to get your ass beat than you are getting killed.

    People are under the impression those guards are not allowed to move or talk. They are *guards*. The may even use force to stop anyone hindering them doing their job.

  • @PALillie
    @PALillie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah the woman is totally in the wrong there. Those soldiers, they aren't props, they're real soldiers doing a specialised job that they take very seriously & because of the ceremonial aspect of it they are limited in how they can communicate whilst on duty. If they deviate from their role in anyway (by asking her nicely to move away for example) they can have their pay docked & even lose out on promotions if it happens regularly enough.
    Any foreigner I've explained that to, I don't know, it doesn't seem to click for them but to draw a parallel it'd be like me interrupting one of the Honor Guards on duty at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Virginia. They're also real soldiers doing a ceremonial job but to interrupt them would be unthinkable. It should be as unthinkable to touch the Queen's Guard, or their horse.

  • @Sandro_de_Vega
    @Sandro_de_Vega 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It doesn't matter if the guy is there as a guard or just a symbolic guard. You cannot touch it, you cannot get in its way. Same as with those guards in the funny tall hats. Attempting to disrupt his routine or touching him may end up being beaten up by him. Because they are authorized to do so.

    Had nothing to do with the glass itself being heated. It was the garlic cubes being frozen and touching the hot glass. Love your channel !
