  • Jackson, a top graduate of his cohort is preparing for his first job interview, but his mother seems more excited than him. She assists in his CV creation and role-plays with him scenarios that he might encounter in a job interview. Taking it to the extreme, she attempts to sit in with him during the interview to ensure that her son is hired. How far will she go? Good intentions or extreme parenting?

    Great acting from the actress who played the mother. I could feel her anxiety frustration hope for her only son.

      Kirena agree! And kinda sad when she starts praying to her dead husband. Can see how she pins all her hope on her son.

    That's not embarrassing moment. To me it's more like a mom being obsessed with her sons success. Like why you need to tell a grown up child how to make resume? Let him learn himself. And being with him like this will make any child feel burden and the motivation will be down. And this mom really is obsessed. Like, just relax. Your child should be worried not you.
    And at last, she know the cruel world but please, don't always think your child is best always. Others have potential too. And never think your child is less because of few failures, your child is best, but in different field that one don't notice.

    She's only doing this for herself.. if her son fails, she blames herself. So to avoid this, she wants, no, she needs him to succeed.. every parent place a lot of fuss n concern on their children, not bec they care to, but bec they dun want the child to fail as they will blame themselves for their kid's failure and then have to live with and remedy that failure, which the parents think they caused for not doing enough for their kid to succeed in first place.

    What are the lines you shouldn't cross in a parent-child relationship?

    • @tessw9744
      @tessw9744 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First line is to not consider your grown son a child. A parent -child relationship ends when you become an adult. He's her son, not her child.

      Let them have their privacy. Parents always don't get it when their children grow up and suddenly have a circle of boundary and refuse to admit that they have grown up.

    Relatable in some ways...a classic example of a domineering and obssessed individual...this parenting style could apply to other aspects of her son's life as well, besides his career. The mother needs to seek help/ counselling before something drastic happens. If this continues, her son would either rebel against her excessive need for control over his life, or adopt her personality, or in other words become her, or he might develope psychiatric issues in the long run. Intervention is neccessary here...

    My life with that kind of mother will cause me to feel depressed and unduly anxious for a lifetime.

    Poor guy. Imagine living with a mom that treats you like a kid, all the time telling what to do. She doesn't stop speaking...enough to make someone insane.

    The mother has serious OCD, tha thad taken hold of her life. Creating different fantasies and worries as "tests" at each stage, that she has to inject struggles and lots of negative emotions in order to pass these tests. This is beyond affecting herself, but her surroundings. Ultimately she is not doing good for her son, but doing good and not breaking the fantasy world that she created in her mind for herself and her role in the world. Can be seen by the way she positioned the shoes, breakfast, chickenrice, to the bigger things like the list of struggles she must go through in order for her son to clear his interview.

    Anak segede gtu masih di perlakukan sprti anak yg baru mau test masuk sekolah favorit. Kasian anak nanti bisa stress. Ibu memang selalu ingin yg trbai, tp bukan berarti ibu berhak mempemalukan anak dgn cara membanggakannya secara berlebihan di depan org2. Ibu sehrsnya mengajarkan anak attitude yg baik, dan mengajarkan kesabaran kepada anak. Bukan malah mendidiknya menjadi anak yg ambisius tanpa attitude.
