My family owned a small hotel in Pigeon Forge ( still there ) and Gatlinburg ( retail shops and parking lot now ) in the 1960's and 70's. My kids grew up there although just in the summertime. Both Hotels closed October-April. But fondly remember Silver Dollar City (Dollywood) bravely try to operate year round with their Christmas Lights as a main draw. Thanks for sharing Pigeon Forge. I’ve lived in East Tennessee for the last 26 years and have no desire to relocate. Still, I’ve never been to Dollywood. We’re quite proud of Dolly Parton locally, especially for her work for child literacy. I’m glad you joined us here and hope you return to enjoy Splash Country in the warmer months. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄

Blake Shelton's Ole Red is in Gatlinburg and a LOT of musicians live in the area.. Tuatha Dea does and a few others. Lots of fun things to do.. I hear there's a self propelled coaster you can ride and a Needle.. or: To help you plan your trip, we've made a list of the top 7 things to do in Gatlinburg for adults. Visit the Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler. ... Go to Ole Red. ... Enjoy the Views. ... See a Show at Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre. ... Spend Time at Anakeesta. ... Shop at the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community. ... Stay in a Gatlinburg Cabin.
Great Campground near by at Anchors Down on the lake. Not the cheapest but certainly one of the nicest. Been to Ole Red and IT IS worth a visit. Live music there is awesome.

So glad you came to my home state of Tennessee! The Smokies are awesome any time of year. I'm glad to see you using the trolley because traffic can be extreme during peak seasons. I hope you have the chance to visit Ober Gatlinburg, the aquarium and of course the national park. There is so much to do there we go 3-5 times every year and still haven't seen and done all there is to do. Enjoy your time in Tennessee and come back soon!
Vacationed here in the summer of 2018, we loved it. Camped inside the National Park, also went tubing on the North Carolina side in a little mountain town called Bryson City.
Great to see you in my neck of the woods! We live four hours away but visit the smokies often. If your ever in Sampson Co. NC our 100 acre farm would be great for boondocking!

I stayed at the Pigeon Forge KOA in July. It is a very nice campground. The Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area is nice with plenty to do.

Blake Shelton's Ole Red is in Gatlinburg and a LOT of musicians live in the area.. Tuatha Dea does and a few others. Lots of fun things to do.. Great Campground near by at Anchors Down on the lake. Not the cheapest but certainly one of the nicest. Been to Ole Red and IT IS worth a visit. Live music there is awesome.
And it's worth checking out Smokey Mountain Knife works if you're in the area. Worlds largest knife store/museum. Pretty neat place.
And also the Ripley's believe it or not museum and or the Ripley's aquarium in the Smokey's.
I loved this, and can't wait to see Dollywood in person.

Thanks Eric for sharing! It's been awhile since I have been down to Gatlinburg area for Christmas, one of my favorite places to visit.
So glad you came to my home state of Tennessee! The Smokies are awesome any time of year. I'm glad to see you using the trolley because traffic can be extreme during peak seasons. I hope you have the chance to visit Ober Gatlinburg, the aquarium and of course the national park. There is so much to do there we go 3-5 times every year and still haven't seen and done all there is to do. Enjoy your time in Tennessee and come back soon!
Vacationed here in the summer of 2018, we loved it. Camped inside the National Park, also went tubing on the North Carolina side in a little mountain town called Bryson City.
Great to see you in my neck of the woods! We live four hours away but visit the smokies often. If your ever in Sampson Co. NC our 100 acre farm would be great for boondocking!
