You convinced me to buy this little wonder. I've owned a few and this one takes the cake. Very small and light for a 3500 watt generator. Same size as my 2000's. They can't run the ac but this little unit does it no problem
I have the 3300 version of this generator. I don't have a lot of hours on it yet but so far so good. I camp mostly where I have power but keep the generator in my truck just in case we lose power. Over the 4th of July a portion of the campground did lose power, not in the section I was in but another part so I lent my generator to an elderly couple that also had a 16 year old dog that could not take the heat. The man was so thankful that he offered to give me cash. I refused to take it. The felling of doing a good deed for another was worth more than any amount of money he could have offered me. So glad I had my generator with me.
I always take a small gen even if going local and being plugged in for just in case like that, or if you break down on the side of the road and need to get out of the heat for a bit the gen can run the Ac in in the trailer. Obviously using caution depending where you break down
You are so right sir ! I own a security company up here in Ottawa and when the power goes out , I equip my guys with a generator in their trucks and they visit older customers of ours living alone and spend a few hours a day keeping their freezers cold. During the last dericho that hit us and power was out a full week, it saved thousands of dollars in food. It's called passing good karma along.....
NICE..!!! 💪🏼
Just ordered one of these for my trailer. Looking forward to an easy (light weight) generator to power up the air conditioner. Thanks for the review.
I have one for my girlfriend grooming van and it's been jus awesome!! Very reliable, easy to maintain. I can say it has endured quite a bit of abuse, and works like new!!! I highly recommend this generator
Agree so a great unit. I still use it or lend it out.
Thanks for the feedback back
I've just ordered one to power the caravan while we're at the bike racing. All the reviews sound great so hopefully it's money well spent 🤞🤞
I've had my MXR3500 for almost a year and it is perfect as a power source for a camper. It also came in handy when power went out for several days after a recent hurricane. The unit ran at 50% load for almost 5 hours on 1 gal fuel.
Nice! Looks like it has some pretty good reviews. 👍
Have used mine during an actual outage of a day and a half, and it performed flawlessly. Lights, fans fridge computer etc, Pretty quiet also. Aussie version with 240v50hz output.
Awsome thanks for the feedback 😀👍🏼
I couldn’t agree more with your review! Haven’t got a chance to use mine a whole lot yet, but it seems to hit the sweet spot for a lightweight generator for the RV!! Mine can run 13.5 AC and microwave at the same time and still be under its running watts. Thanks Johnny 👍
No problem Spanky.!!! 😀👍🏼😉
I purchased one of these after seeing your review a year ago. I live in Australia where we have 240 V at 50 Hz Same rated output power I would have several hundred hours up on my unit now no problems whatsoever I do change the oil at every 50 hours to me, it doesn’t make sense to spend $3000 on the Honda when I can buy one of these here in Australia for $750 delivered I look forward to seeing your two year review
👍🏼😀
How's the Genie travelling mate? I'm in Oz as well..im thinking of Grabbing the big 5500 camo unit off off Ebay
I Can't find many reviews on it .plenty for the smaller unit tho 3500
I'm torn between grabbing x2 small units and using parallel when needed ...or just buying the big unit
I don’t know anything about the big generator. During the storms over the last couple of days, I lost power for 12 hours. Started the generator up and was able to run all the important electrical appliances inside the house. I found the generator to be very reliable. I always run it out of fuel and then and then empty the carburettor by using the drain. The other thing I did from new was to use mobile one fully synthetic engine oil. I always start the generator every 6 to 8 weeks on load for an hour. Will be going out camping again shortly and it’s going to get a bit of work this summer. I can recommend the MXR3500.
@@maxdeane1092thx..it Seems like a little Ripper
I have the MaxpeedingRods 3500 dual fuel, the one with wheels. it's a great, cheap generator.
They are good little units for the price!
How long does the duel fuel 3500 last on a tank of fuel and a tank of propane ?
@Urban_hunter2021 all depends on the load…
🙂
Cool video. Have you figured out how to drain the fuel for storage ? not in the manual.

Hey Johnny... I got one of these and I really like it... However, Pulsar makes one which is exactly the same but 4000 watts.... what are you thoughts on the Pulsar? I could use 500 more watts...
If it the one I listed in this comment…. It’s the same engine and carb but I can’t confirm the inverter board. But looks like a duck………🤷🏼♂️

For $600 it looks like a decent deal.
Yea with the discount it’s even better. So far this unit like anything if you don’t abuse it they seem to be doing really well
I've watched your reviews of this generator and am considering purchasing one. One question though...when it was running your trailers air conditioner, is your AC just a standard one, or have you installed a 'soft start' on it? thanks
I do have soft starts on both units now as I run a battery and inverter setup which will run my Ac unit as long as the sun is out or my batteries are topped off. It will help increase the life of the Ac units, the inverter and also a gas generator that is smaller like the MXR3500 and other gens of that size. If you plan to keep your trailer it’s a great idea and easy to install.
I just picked up one of these for emergency backup power during blackouts. I noticed it doesn't have a vent in the fuel cap. Has anyone figured out if there is a way to connect it to an extended tank via the BERG system or something else? Thx.
Genmax has a system coming out soon that should work with this as well. Probably a couple more months though
I'm thinking about buying one of these for my buisness to use small electric equipment remotely. Any idea how many hours might I expect it to last in total?
So far people are getting into the low thousands. So depends on how it’s treated and more. If you run it around the 30-70% range then it’s not being worked to hard. But if you are always close to max you can wear them much quicker
What's your opinion on the Westinghouse Dual Fuel igen2550DFc unit?
It’s a DF unit that runs the normal Yamaha clone MZ80 engine. It is rated at 1800 running watts on gas. It’s a little bigger than some units but says it’s super quiet so maybe the larger casing helps muffler excess engine noise. I don’t know the actual manufacturer of that unit so nothing to compare it to. And I have no experience with it.
I’m hoping my genmax 3300i is as reliable as this one as they look super similar. I was able to grab the genmax 3300i on Amazon the other day for 499 shipped. 🤞🤞🤞
GENMAX is factory direct brand, the same quality.
Same unit 👍🏼
it's the exact same product, just rebranded
I bought a Kerosene Heater from MPR and it ran flawlessly for 1 year. During storage i must have did something wrong and the unit failed to operate the following year.
Must be the igniter, I don’t think there’s much that could go wrong with a kerosene heater.
You need a additive so the pump doesn’t corrode or gel over. Diesel and kerosene doesn’t like to sit for ever in a open or vented container. It will sludge over. Must be in a good sealed container.
I would clean the fuel system. Mainly the pump
That or pump is not priming from contaminated fuel
@@johnnysweekends you are prob correct it was my fault
@@sunshine3914 i believe the error code was something like that
Hi Johnny, I bought the max3500 because of you reviews about a month ago. The machine runs for about 3 hours and it turns off. I only tried to use it with a portable ace with 10,000 btu.I’ve use it not more than three times since I bought it. What I can do please help.
I forgot to mention that I put regular oil and I didn’t do break in.
Odd…!!
Here are a few things to try…
Make sure unit is level
Check oil level and make sure its full to bottom of threads on dipstick.
Do not over fill fuel past red line in fill neck this can cause issues.
If its extremely hot out and unit is in the sun it can and will over heat and shut down. Especially if at more altitude.
What temps has it been. Unfortunately everything has a limit.
If hot temps try to move to shaded area.
Try these and see.
Break in wont really do anything unless you went straight to max load and just held it there for ever.
And also one tank of fuel at high loads will only last about 3-4 hours. At lower loads is will last much longer.
@@johnnysweekends You could also plug a small fan in and point it at the Gen to enhance cooling effect...
True a dc fan in front would help when there is no breeze at all and the air around the ground is cooking.
Can anyone tell me if this line of generators have pistons running on aluminum bores or cast iron ones like more expensive generators. This makes a huge difference in the number of hours a unit can run before needing a major rebuild. I have one of these 3500 watt units but continue to wonder how long they will last....
I was kinda wondering this so I asked and will find out in a few days. Or I may have to take one apart. How many hours on yours..?
Zero at the moment !! The guy I bought it from put 750 ml of oil in it and it only takes 450 ml, so I spent some time cleaning up the mess it left when I checked the oil level. This morning I added an hour meter to the generator to keep track of hours for maintenance purposes, and as I write this, I am going out to start the breakin procedure...
After one hour change oil, two hours varying the load change it again, 5 hours change it to synthetic oil, and 20 hrs change it again...after that every 50 to 100 hours of use.
I love maintaining all my power equipment and get really upset when I see people abuse their equipment then complain it's crap and doesn't work anymore.
I was going to use a borescope to see if I could determine the metal in the bore but I couldn't really make out what it was. Bad news one has to be taken apart to find out, but if it's an aluminum bore, it won't last long (especially if it's abused). But with a cast iron sleeve it should last many thousands of hours all else being equal.
@TOURMANBOB Wow how did they get that much oil in there. Must have been tilted way back! And yes I agree people who abuse stuff and come back and say whatever product is junk. Unfortunately it’s OE many times but they wont admit they are at fault. I ask what were you doing or what loads and conditions. Come to find out it was running at max in a 100 degree temp for 4 hrs….🤷🏼♂️ Well most things dont last long at wide open and hot temps.
I’ll see what I can find out on the sleeves. But yea these little gens love 75% and lower…
I have 3500w model ....so far seams to be pretty good ...I am running to the RV into my victron 3000multi plus and mppt hooked into the system with pylontech batteries
And have trouble with it throwing over load light on the eco sw mode running the a/c when the compressor cut in
But if i switch off the eco sw mode it seams OK ....have changed a few setting in my cerbo gx but still the same .....
I have been told it could be dirty power from from the generator ....
But that is only a comment so I took that with a grain of salt .......
Hope someone else my have the same issue
The a/c is not a soft start
Most times when running any ac unit you want to leave it off eco as the engine is not turning enough rpms for the surge in power. When at higher rpm it can handle the large surge current trying to be pulled from it. Also the outside temp, humidity and elevation will all play a factor.
Try again with eco off, if you want to leave Eco on a soft start will be needed which is always a good idea as it will prolong the life of the gen and ac unit on those hotter days when the generator has to work harder.
Do you recommend this one or the pulsar 4000
Pulsar 4000 is virtually the same thing and can get it in a dual fuel. Same company makes it. amzn.to/4aYaR5b
$800 for the mxr3500 propane one that I want.
Which one do you want ?
Not seeing the discount in the comments...
Hmm I will double check but here ya go…MXR3500 Amazon: amzn.to/3JNexf1
Anyone test this or use in cold weather ? Cold as in minus 20 C
Uhh not me, I don’t know if I could survive those temps 😂
Normally the operating range is 0-40c for optimal performance.
I want one, but Commiefornia won't let me get one. Commies.

@johnnysweekends That link said will not send to Commiefornia. I found it from someone on a site who will send it to me. I am moving out of here soon, tired of the communist democrats control over every little thing.
I did. They won't ship to California. I found someone who can. Thanks
prohibited in ALL nat parks do to the high DBI of the unit. might get away having it in a "noise" box.
but at least it has a 30 A rv plug, but only pumps out 25A, that can murder all electronics.
25 amps is 25 amps. And if the sine wave is clean then electronics will be fine. So your comment is a little unclear.
The noise is only during hours of operation and with it being on concrete that’s the loudest. And not everyone camps at a national parks.
What can "murder" electronics? I don't understand your statement.
I don’t either 🤷🏼♂️
Why is it prohibited in all national parks?
It’s not its just a nonfactual comment
