Best purchase I made! And I literally had no use for another generator considering I already had three lol but I bought a refurbished model directly from the company on eBay during their big sale and I literally bought this generator for like $325 out the door I mean quite frankly you’ll never find a dual fuel generator anywhere near that price so I just couldn’t pass it up ha ha but I will admit I love it. It’s easy to haul around my property when I’m working away from power. And I actually had been looking for a smaller generator for this exact reason for quite some time, but seems like 90% of them are all fuel only and I typically run my generators on propane strictly as a seem to run and last so much longer as a matter of fact, I think I’ve already put about 12 to 14 hours on this thing and I’ve yet to put a drop of gas in it.
I picked up a Dual Fuel Remanufactured Firman 3242 for a little over $300 too. I do have a soft start on the AC unit and it powers my 30 amp travel trailer like a champ. I too use propane, don't want to haul a gas container around since I already have propane. Nice video, very informative.
A little over 9 hours on a 20LB tank is awesome! Get a 40LB tank and you can go through entire night !! Or longer I’m getting one I got a big firman tri fuel this is my next stop
I wanted to upgrade my Generac XL5500(ca 1998) to an inverter generator 3 years ago. I knew about the brand because of Costco. Costco has a sale of the duel fuel or the tri fuel once a year. But When I was ready to pull the trigger, it was not on sale, so I purchased the least expensive 3600 W unit that I could get(WO-3382, gas only, for $845 at Lowes). Got it and broke it in then put it into long term storage mode. So it has sat for the past 2 years, waiting for a power outage. Next summer, I will start it and exercise it just like with the XL5500, then put them back into storage mode. Oh and after 26 years, the xl5500 still starts on the first pull...
@@travelpawsrv My Generac was the best maintained engine that I have. I follow the Generac manual for the long term storage process. Generac made good 320 engines and it has an oil filter to keep everything clean while running. Now you have to get the contractor version in order to have an oil filter.
It is AC voltage, not DC, so no positive or negative. Just connect the left side with the left side and right side with the right side and you will be fine. Just do this before either of them are running. Pretty sure one can be running when you connect the wires, but absolutely not both, still best to start with both off. If you connect them together while both are running, you are likely to kill one inverter or both. Unless you get lucky, they won't be synched when connected together, and will be forced into synch with each other as quick as possible, which in big power plants, is a physical slam, but in these electronic inverters, I have no idea. When they are first turned on, they will synch properly with what they are connected to, but they are starting from 0, so its easier.
I barely had 80 hours on my firman I paid almost $500 for gas/propane. The coil went out!!!! I'm going to contact firman and see what kind of discount I can get for a new coil. My mechanic thinks it was used before we bought it, supposedly new. Not happy. I hope they work with me.
Their customers service is awesome. I am going on my third year. I go boondocking camp sixteen times a year. I USE mine pretty hard, and the wheels fell off because the 4 bolts rattled loose. Customer service (in AZ) told me that as long as it was registered, the warranty would cover those bolts. By the way, they cost a total of $6. I love my Firman! I love Firman customer service, having used the 2 times, I was super impressed (I am usually hard to impress)
@atcaw94 good question! Luckily (knock on wood) mine is still going strong but I haven't had to use it regularly. Once a month to keep it exercised, and of course when power goes out.
I'm not an electrician so I'm not sure...I'm assuming as long as the cord is rated for the wattage/amps it would work...but again..I'm not an electrician :-)
My wh03242 inverter generator gas no electricity out and hour meter has no power engine runs perfect hard for me to believe rhe evm board is bad nothing is burned no smell anybody know anything about the evm board?
I'd like to know how much gas it would use in the exact same situation. It's hard to compare since we don't have a clue how much power you were using. Using an electric heater pulling off a generator is extremely inefficient. You might be getting 20 percent efficient when you could be getting 80 percent from your camper's own propane heater.
Thats not the starter battery , Thats the vaper canister ---, To service the air filter or battery remove both access panels side and rear covers . to remove the battery Firman forgot to leave any room to get to the battery . Disconnect the ground cable near the drain plug . Leave both access covers off .The battery is in the rear below the air box . . remove front air filter cover . Remove the hold down bolt and tilt the battery up to remove . Poor battery access . My Firman generator ran fine. Its just hard to service.
Thank you! There was a sticker on it when I first opened it up to put the oil in it that said "battery" probably fell off or someone was lazy..hahaha Thanks for watching!
Very welcome! So far so good with this one. All in all I'm very happy I went with it, just not having to carry gas has been worth it so far. Just used it this past week for another power outage and worked like a champ! Thanks for watching!!
Had same one , put 1000 hours on it. Bolt on plastic manifold exhaust side (plastic cracked). Oil leak unknown source, spark plug cylinder started stripping, and ran 99 percent propane. It started surging on both fuels . The 12v wire from propane tank started fraying and will require replacement. I would not buy another from costco. Customer service immediately accused you of not doing valves as ordered. I did them perfectly and changed oil frequently. Dont buy
Interesting how some wont buy this because it's made in China... like most other stuff we buy isn't. Trust me, I would rather not buy from China but I'm not made of money. IMO, I dont like to waste money. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I currently have a reconditioned 2000W firman I got on ebay for $235. Honestly, has been super reliable. I plan to buy this one, refurbished for $399 on ebay for my off grid cabin. There is no way I can either justify or afford to spend, what, 5 times for a better brand, even double. Until I get one of these that craps out on me, I'm willing to take a chance. BTW, I do have the Predator 3500 which has also been a good unit, however, I paid $800 for it a few years ago.
Even everyone’s beloved Honda 2200 is made in Thailand or China depending on the model. I’m pretty sure every single inverter on the market comes from the continent of Asia. As long as they have good quality control, that’s what we have to choose from. Oh well
Hard pass. Just a rebranded Chinese made generator. Save yourself some money and heartache and go for one of the other dozen cheaper Chinese brands. Firman, Harbor Freight, Champion, and Generac will provide you with good value and performance.
Hmm 😂😂 very strange comment considering this is a firman that you can get at Costco. You can return up to 5 years no questions asked. Only way to do it
I've had mine for about a year now, I use it all the time, great generator!
Awesome! Glad to know it's a good unit long term!
I just bought the same one from Costco. Great deal. It will power my camper.
Awesome!!
Awesome! I just got one of these and i wanted to see if the generator would work for all of our stuff and mostly the space heater(s). THANK YOU!!!

How do you consider it awesome? I'm missing the part on how much power he was using. But $25 in 9 hours is way too expensive for me.

Great video. Where do you get the propane gauge that’s shows how much propane you have left please?

They did make a cameo in this one. 😀

What oil pan is that? I’m reaching 20 hours of use here in FL after Milton and will need to change in the next day or so.

Hi, can you show me parallel outlet which is negative which is positive? Because both of them are black and there is no any sign on it.

I was told the generators stop when you get to 20% of your tank as you don't have enough pressure to run it.
Good to know thank you!! I'll have to pull the manual out and see if it says that too. 😀

$599 until March 31st 🎉 just got one
Bought mine on eBay last year refurbished through Firman with 2 yr warranty for $350! Best deal out there imo!
Summer of last year Costco had this exact one for 399, I just had to snatch one up, glad I did
The one Costco has is slightly different than this one, different model number
Propane or gas it runs around nine hours as rated
Haven't tried it on gas yet...since I have no use for gas I don't want to go buy a new gas can LOL
