I had my wedding last weekend, and the venue's AC kicked on right as we were doing our vows, totally making it impossible to hear what we were saying (recorded on my brothers iphone 15 pro max)... but i got my pixel 8 pro the next day, and the audio eraser 100% saved the video almost completely cutting out the ac noise and saving the video. The audio magic eraser (all though not perfect) literally saved a once in a life time video.
That's pretty awesome
Its always the smaller things isnt it. Im so stoked that you got the video saved man.🎉
im an audio engineer. If you need more sound removal, I’d love to help!
WOW
Congratulations on you wedding man!!!
Got my Pixel 8 yesterday and I'm pretty happy with it, but it feels like a giant compared to my Pixel 3 😅
I just wish Google put the better cameras from the Pro in the smaller form factor.
Pixel 9 Pro has been rumored for awhile to have 6.3 and 6.7 size. See if that's true or not.
@@benfisher9419 pixel *9* ? already?
have been asking for this for years, but android makers are obsessed with big phones
@@swaggitypigfig8413pixel 10 will have 6 and 7“, wait till you see it 😁😉
@@kevinmesto608I'd say the industry overall leans towards bigger form factors. I like it with my big hands but it does suck for those who don't.
I sent a "best take" and "noise eraser" video to my girlfriend's sister in-law (who's a diehard iPhone user) and she was amazed by it and asked me what phone does that.
Waoh.. They will be so surprised because iPhone cannot do that... Pixel phones are on a whole new level and different....
Don't worry, Apple will copy these features in 2 years (when their engineers manage to figure out generative ML).
@@Chopper153 it's very funny to see this now after Apple agreed to license Gemini from Google lol
As someone who was unlucky enough to lose a phone during a trek, i can confirm cloud storage beats internal storage. It is literally a life saver. If i hadn't uploaded all my photos, videos and files to google drive i would have lost all my data and that larger storage does nothing to prevent this.
Pixel 8 pro. I will never go back to Apple.
Yea I moved from the 12 pro max to the pixel. Good experience so far.
Yall don’t care about the ugly emojis or having green bubbles? Believe it or not those are the only things keeping me from switching.
Also do pics taken in Snapchat and instagram still look like crap? I know that’s been an issue on Android phones for a long time.
@@nickmckee3947 I'm too much removed from social media to know about any of that lmao
@@nickmckee3947green bubbles? You can’t be real 😁. Apple can keep their bubbles, they are actively blocking an open messaging standard. The same gies with usb - now they are forced, and they have the audacity to slow it down to usb 2.0 - apple ha§ good devices (I’m using an iPad Pro right now), but an iPhone is out of the question for me now. Especially with this great alternatives like the pixel and others.
Currently using the Pixel 8, I think it's better than what I needed
Would you buy samsung 23 or 23 plus insteed if you could?
Do you think that the bezels are annoying?
Nah, Samsung has a lot of bloat that I can't uninstall, the big one is the Samsung apps
On the Pixel I was able to uninstall carrier apps
I came from a crappy budget Samsung A11 so I guess I didn't experience if their flagship level phones were any good
Reviewers keep saying about the over HDR in Pixel 8 shots, yes it brightens shadows by default as that is the safer option, but if you like the shadows to be darker in any image literally one tap on the brightest thing in the photo and the Pixel will instantly amend the exposure and you get that more "moody" shot you want. It's a non-issue
Is that "one tap" within the camera shot or is it in postproduction?
@@flyingaviator8158 during camera shot
@@flyingaviator8158within the shot. Do the inverse of what they said to make it bright(er)
Pixel 8 pro with the snapdragon package, and upgraded modem....Would be the ultimate phone.... or close to it.
I just went from the OnePlus 7pro to pixel 8pro and I have to say it's fantastic to use, snappy to use and a dream to hold. Looking forward to their promised updates to see what they bring to the pixels.
I have the 7T Pro and decided to switch to the 8pro, I am currently waiting for my device to be delivered.
I hope I will not miss something from my 7, it has served me well and was/is a killer device
Me 2.
Just got the 8 Pro. Only moving from the OP9 Pro which for the most part I think is really nice but the battery consumption - even with minimal use - is just woeful.
Yeahhh lessgo OnePlus to Pixel gang 💪💪🔥🔥
Biggest miss for me from Oneplus is definitely the notification slider. It was soooo good on the OnePlus but honestly you get used to not having it after a few days. The screen on the pixel 8pro is epic in the sun. And I'm getting about 8-9hrs of daily usage from it.
Coming from Samsung S series I'm loving the Pixel 8 pro. The software totally knocked it out of the park. Cameras are on point too.
7:53 The best take feature is actually all AI, it has nothing to do with the pixel camera itself, it works on pictures taken with other phones, it could be pictures taken months apart, it doesn't matter as long as the AI finds enough similarities in the photos to swap the faces, it's pretty impressive actually and very useful
Well where's the AI coming from and where are it's implementation. You just can't say it's a feture not related to camera without saying it is.
@@ankitdubey2848it's not running on the pixel itself. All the processing is done on the cloud by Google.
The only way the feature is connected to the pixel 8 is because it's software locked to it.
Got the Pixel 7 on sale for $750 AUD last Christmas and I think I'll stick with it for the foreseeable future. I hope some of these features make their way to the previous models!
Me 2! I'll ride this one out & keep it at least 4-5 years or longer
Got my mum's pixel 7 for £290 new which was a phenomenal deal
@@syed2694 yeah! That's sound like a crazy good deal
Just ordered my Pixel 8 (Hazel) on Black Friday for $550. The smaller size is just perfect for everyday use.
Can't wait! 🤩
They should also have Worst Take for the goofiest photos!
I am noticing almost negligible heating issues on my pixel 6 after Android 14. The issue wasn't there when it was 12, and started immediately after i upgraded it to 13 last year ...it reduced over time theough the security updates, but didn't go away and was quite an issue...but now, it's back to what it was before 13...which is normal.
I just want to say, and im going back because i had a similar feature to this face editing or best shot thing on my Blackberry z10. I used this on vacation to my home town and i have a lot of family everyone was blown away by how i could do this to get a relatively good picture of all the kids looking at the camera. Of course this version is miles away from the blackberry one but it still was an impressive feature that i didnt see on any phone at the time.
Have you noticed in 50mp pictures it looks blurry on screen but once you take the picture its sharp I wish I could show image of what I am talking about.
Yeah I kinda noticed that too, it's minor when using the camera but still noticable. The final pictures are amazing though
It's because it uses processing after it's taken to effectively fix the photo. So you probably can't get the final photo before hand because it essentially edits it after you've pressed the button.
This is one of thing you'll learn to love and hate. Love because you'll get a decently edited photo but hate it because it takes another second or two of wait to check it
The pixel 8 pro feels like such a leap in phones in general, at many levels. I tried many different manufacturers, but this one… this is the best you can get right now, imho. 😊👍
I think Andriod 14 is resonsible for battery life as my Pixel 6 Pro has gotten really good battery life since updating the OS.
They definitely improved this pixel I've been using it and wow almost thinking of getting rid of my 15 pro max and sticking to this. My old pixel 7 pro as soon as you unplugged it the battery started dropping quickly this one has great battery life so far. The speakers are also improved thats one thing i hated about the previous one was one speaker was louder than the other.
I see a lot of comments talking about about Nokia having a feature like this but it seems the world forgot that in 2012 Blackberry introduced a similar feature on their BB OS 10 called Time Shift.
That would make for a great video testing out best take
Gcam 9.1 is now available for all previous Pixel devices down to the 3 XL.
So you can get most of the new features on all of them.
Can we get that on other phones?
That file size ecosystem jail thing is real, I use to think iCloud was cheap but eventually you’re gonna need more than 50gb which seems crazy for just pics and it’ll feel like a video streaming subscription service the monthly cost of storage
Bare in mind those pics exist on a physical hard drive somewhere in the world. the cloud isnt an actual cloud and with millions upon millions of users uploading files... Basically it beats having to manually upload all your stuff to hard drives at home but that's essentially what uploading to the cloud is. So eventually you have to pay for it.
The new UI made it quite a bother - 4 steps more to be exact - just to change the exposure and contrast values when taking a photo because they removed it completely from the viewfinder.
Not sure if it's different on your phone but for me on the pixel 6pro with the new camera ui I can still just tap a focus point and then drag the exposure or the shadows down.
Upgraded from pixel 6 to 8 pro. Really liking the 8 pro so far, Feels like a great improvement. Don't believe the hate from some TH-camrs.
Yeah mrwhosetheboss in particular
Does the 8 pro feel giant? I have a 6 and want the 8 pro for the features, but don't really want a huge phone. Might get the 8 instead
@@isaiahr6641 No it doesn't feel huge. Maybe because of more rounded corners.
@@LilJones-mj4yshe's an apple fanboy. If it's not iOS, he will moan about it
@@LilJones-mj4yshes a super hater
What I'm liking about the pixel 8 pro is the 50mp raw files, even from the telephoto lens they are great (after grading them in lightroom)
I'm using the 8 pro, and ohh man, it's amazing and way better than what Samsung did, pixel phones are simple, not many features like Samsung so you keep your focus on one thing and not many features, I love it, it's simple and elegant than any Samsung and phones I had yet. I upgraded from Galaxy note 20 ultra and that phone had soooo many features, and I see the difference between, simplicity, ease of use and less features are the way to go. I will not come back to Galaxy anymore
The best thing is that if you need some of those Samsung features you can probably find an app that will replicate it. The thing I missed most coming from Galaxy phones was the Edge panel and I just downloaded an app that gives me the feature on my Pixel.
I feel like the Magic Eraser and Magic Editor are just bringing Photoshop to the masses. The "content aware fill" brush has been available in Photoshop for years at this point, Google just used AI to make it better and put it on a phone.
Yeah basically means you don't have to use a lot of processing power or the phone is now capable of utilising the processing power.
this channel never disappiont, love it😀😀😀
Does it have the same cameras as the pixel fold? what would you say are the key differences? Love your channels, especially autofocus.
Just learned that magic editor requires internet because it’s run in the cloud instead of on device. I think that’s an important detail no one seems to talk about.
What? Every test i read talked about it, the same goes for videos (where they explain it starts a bit slow because it runs on google’s servers, not the device)
@@erebostdI’ve seen a few now as well.
Nothing new. Cut the internet on the pixel 7 and you can't edit in google photos either.
@@ImARealHumanPerson what? Either that’s a local thing or your phone might be broken. I just checked the phones i have available in airplane mode (wifi and mobile off) and with every phone i can edit my pictures, even things like the eraser (the older offline version, not the brand new one you can alternatively use) work flawlessly. I tried it with the 6 Pro, 7 Pro and 8 Pro (here in Europe).
So, If the photo features needs to upload the photo to the cloud, what use have the Tensor G3?
3:13 I think Google will deliver these new AI features on Pixel Fold as a feature drop. Since Fold has G2, I think Pixel 7 & 7 Pro will get those features also. But At this point, I'm really hoping someone to port a GCam that will bring the manual control of Pixel 8 pro. It would be dope.
LOL, love to the editor that threw in the "Not like this".
Can I have a comparison video between the latest Galaxy, Pixel & iPhone. That would be really helpful.
Debating on getting the Pixel 8 pro, but am holding off to see what the S24 Ultra has to offer. Always loved Googles features though so will be a difficult decision.
Went from a 14pro to a standard pixel 8. Only concerm is that the phone heats up more than usual. Aside from that, no complaints whatsoever
im curious if there will be a black Friday sale
5:46 yup that's the reason no more microsd card support in good phones
Congrats on 420k subs
3 days into living with the 8 pro after 7 years with iphone with a 12pro max being my last iphone. So so pleased with it
Its safe to say our guy right here drops the best unbiased takes on smartphones this year.
I've explored other big TH-camrs and they're all low-key working for fruit company but I love what Marques (hope that's correct) is doing fr.
His take is great, also watched a lot of revs.. the best i saw was mrwhosdboss which took a lot of time to release.
Marques used to do it a lot too, he had sooooo many obviously biased takes towards Apple which is why I stopped following him.. Now that he's earned his $$, he's being more objective but he's already a sellout in my eyes and that'll never change.. I still watch him occasionally though cuz Arun started being a sellout sometime in the 2nd half of last year too. They let their personal bias affect their reviews and I hate it.. The tech youtube scene right now is missing a good, objective and entertaining youtuber
@@KillOnS In what way has Marques sold out to Apple? If anything he has always been critical of every company.
Please, I need advice. Is this a better mobile than a Xiaomi 11Tpro? From what I understand, the Google pixel 8 gets updates for 7 years, which makes it up to date for that long. While Xiaomi is just getting older and older. Would you choose pixel8 over xiaomi 11tpro? Thanks in advance
I think the issue with raising prices for them is that low.price was a big reason for people to buy this phone. Now that is no longer the case so they might lose some of their buyer base.
Google still does give you unlimited photos and vids but they aren't in their full quality, they will be compressed (unless you pay for the storage in full quality)
Same here. Just got my Pixel and I have no complains.
Fresh upload let's go
Can it chop chop for flashlight and twist camera features like Motorola?
The P8P has made me decide to hang up the Nikon D800e, which is sad cause i like the control i have over every aspect of the D800e, and all the lens options.
Would the pixel 7pros chip support these AI features? Then at least we can hope for a feature drop sometime in the future
I've found mine successfully makes me jump higher without an error. Could be accidentally separating a limb or something that's causing the no-no nessage
Is there a way to tone down HDR?
Which ai camera features work offline?
I saw a popular TH-cam channel telling people not to buy a pixel phone because of the problems they didn't mention. Watching this video and hearing that MKBHD likes and still using the pixel phone and didn't mention about any problem with the phone. I am going to get the phone.
Some people just hate pixel for no reason
Some TH-camrs are stupid and controlled, not mkbhd 👑
They have a reason. They want to get invited from apple again, so… let’s say you know the old saying: He who pays the piper, calls the tune.
I think I saw that video, it was very poorly made and had purely subjective opinions.
Every youtuber has their own opinions. Shocking right? Buy whatever you want, you don’t need to get people’s approval first
I bought the Pixel 7 pro after seeing Marques using it, but after doing some research found about the volume keys falling off the phone
The magic editor on Pixel 8 allows you to erase and generative fill
I love this 8 Pro in my hand. Fantastic phone.
mine works on people fine, for example i could put people on top of cars.
Does anyone know if it will have text to image generative fill like photoshop? coz photoshop even has it on their web version now which is really convenient
Reason I’m going back to iOS from P7 Pro is because of the screen … it looked so dull compared to my company’s iPhone that couldn’t make me keep using it. That and also the size. iPhone Pro and regular feel so good o my hands vs the larger pixel body
Getting my P8 tomorrow 🥳
Pixel 6 dng's were not 48 mp, they were 12. No pixel except the 8 pro have full resolution raw
In ten years I've taken maybe about 30 photos.
Total.
I got some annoying lenses flare in a video. But I think I’m happy with my pro
6:05 my phone's google goes off
Me: out loud: "Do I sound like that? oh god"
by far the most useful feature is audio magic eraser , even more than best take.
5:20 yes. agreed.
too funny guys!! Great video
..I cant wait pixels to have custom made TSMC Chips, after that pixels are gonna give a hard time for samsung and apple flagships..
Is it worth upgrading from pixel 7?
David's point about the storage and gating into a ecosystem is spot on and very well observed! In B2B used do that for a while now under the term of Data Gravity, and then it was a real thing in terms of pain points, and by now has morphed into an easy margin source for providers. Bringing this sales strategy to end consumers is only logical. Margins on storage nowadays are insane, and the cost of moving is always with the end user. Well spotted David!
marques with the android beard lineup 🤖 love it
I'd kind of like to see the pic that they were talking about that was the issue in magic eraser. I grabbed one off twitter of an NFL player, highlighed him, moved him, let the AI fill in the back ground and it worked flawlessly.
8:20 yes
In regards to magic editor not moving Marques, I wonder because of his TH-cam fame, the AI recognizes him as some sort of copyrighted entity?
Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have never had the 48 mpx option neither in DNG (raw) nor in JPEG mode
For the audio eraser feature alone, NYC should never change their siren frequency. It won't work as well in most other cities where the frequency does dip lower and cross over with Cello
I went from my Samsung A71 which was 3years to the pixel 8pro and holy crap what a difference
The magic eraser is next level
Just ordered the regular Pixel 8 256 Gigs Hazel colour.....switching from my Galaxy Flip 4 since the folding mechanism is starting to malfunction....my first pixel device....fingers crossed...
how it went?
The 8 is perfect for everyday use. The Pro, while better, can't be justified imo. I mean, here in Canada you're looking at 1500$ for a small upgrade.. I love my P8.
From which store you bought it?
My Google Assistant went off both times! Hahaha
So everyone will look good no matter what…at least on photos. Lol.😂
Best take works perfectly. You will love it if you have kids. Because you know how difficult is to get good photos with kids.
Didn’t HTC do something similar with their camera stuff with HTC sense?
Finally got myself away from Samsung and was using Note 20 Ultra which I still love but I needed something different and have been waiting for the Pixel to catch up with the usual suspects. So got mine at launch and love it and realise I didn't need all the extra stuff you get with the other Androids.
And as for the criticisms of the Tensa G3. I've realised we don't need the fastest chip anymore.
This phone is great.
I feel like I am in the same boat. I've been a Samsung user for awhile now but I am starting to lose interest with their phones as of late. Currently debating if I should take the plunge or not.
I did exactly the same, from galaxy note 20 ultra to the pixel 8 pro, and I totally agree with you, I don't feel like I'm missing something, it's way and much better than galaxy phones, simple to use and I find it elegant with minimalistic software features and simple design
Watch real world tests, the G3 is as fast as the newest snapdragon, in fact in video export (i think it was in h256 or so) it even best the s23 ultra. Is the oixel the best gaming phone if you want to play the most demanding titles? Absolutely not. But for real world tasks (including games) it can more than compete….
@@erebostdas fast as. Lol what a joke, what the other review video please.
Pixel literally slow so much when editing and processing the photo locally using the phone raw power comparing to other flagship.
@@fantasytky28well as somebody who has went from pixel 7 pro to s23 ultra to the pixel 8 pro they all feel about the same. I have noticed less slow down with the pixel 8 (zero) than with the s23 ultra if anything.
If you can pick only one phone out right now which would it be?
Maybe you can edit People only in pictures you have taken with that Phone?
Love it, but Google needs to get rid of the GenAI Terms legal crap when Magic Editing a photo.
Trying to make funny photos of family members, shrinking their heads or making them bigger and keeps violating GenAI rules.
If you have pixel 4a 5g and before you still have free storage for original photos
Hindering the phone from software is criminal. Can't respect any companies doing that. So many tech companies do, but it's so deliberate on the Pixel 8 vs 'pro'
What are you even talking about???
@@lexingtonconcord8751features on the pixel 8 pro which are gated from the standard 8
I like the phone so far. Waiting for my next concert to see if it can record without muffling the audio.
Does it overheat just like the pixel 6 and 7??? Or is it still using a modified Exynos chip like the tensor G1 and G2? 🥵
It's so weird to me people are having overheating issues. I have the P7P and it was actually cooler than past iPhones I've had, and I live in Upper Australia, so it's not like it's a cold climate.
14:38 HAHAHAH
Magic editor isnt in the device, it needs internet and cloud storage
I might go for 8 pro. Google is actually improving the smartphone experience and feels totally different from anything else. I have an s23 ultra and it only comes on if the pixel is being charged..
13:25 HHAAH
While I appreciate the comments about paywalling, this doesn't seem new at all. The only thing I don't like is Google (and others) not just being transparent about it and just saying, these are the features you get with our Pro model phones. Otherwise, they're going to look worse if they get called out for being deceptive.
Guys what do you think would you buy pixel 8 or samsung 23 plus?
S23 Plus for sure. The 7 years of OS update is just a marketing gimmick, if the processor isn't able to compete with the current or even the last gen processors imagine where that processor will stand 7 years down the line.
I use the s23 Ultra and I believe the Pixel 8 I think takes the win in that battle

Pixel. Coming from a samsung.
@@SonNyDayz7_ that's actually quite interesting.
I knew about the storage!!! Ayee!! I bought a hard drive🤷🏽♂️
WIth Google Fi, this has got to be one of the best phones I paid for $400. The one negative is that I don't get the pixel buds pro for free but I see that as an opportunity to pick what I want or nothing at all and also I would still save about $100 if I do decide to buy it.
Maybe magic editor doesn’t work when you can see the persons face? Like it just works with people if you can’t discern their faces
