Finally got myself away from Samsung and was using Note 20 Ultra which I still love but I needed something different and have been waiting for the Pixel to catch up with the usual suspects. So got mine at launch and love it and realise I didn't need all the extra stuff you get with the other Androids. And as for the criticisms of the Tensa G3. I've realised we don't need the fastest chip anymore. This phone is great.
I feel like I am in the same boat. I've been a Samsung user for awhile now but I am starting to lose interest with their phones as of late. Currently debating if I should take the plunge or not.
I did exactly the same, from galaxy note 20 ultra to the pixel 8 pro, and I totally agree with you, I don't feel like I'm missing something, it's way and much better than galaxy phones, simple to use and I find it elegant with minimalistic software features and simple design
Watch real world tests, the G3 is as fast as the newest snapdragon, in fact in video export (i think it was in h256 or so) it even best the s23 ultra. Is the oixel the best gaming phone if you want to play the most demanding titles? Absolutely not. But for real world tasks (including games) it can more than compete….
@@erebostdas fast as. Lol what a joke, what the other review video please. Pixel literally slow so much when editing and processing the photo locally using the phone raw power comparing to other flagship.

I am noticing almost negligible heating issues on my pixel 6 after Android 14. The issue wasn't there when it was 12, and started immediately after i upgraded it to 13 last year ...it reduced over time theough the security updates, but didn't go away and was quite an issue...but now, it's back to what it was before 13...which is normal.
Hindering the phone from software is criminal. Can't respect any companies doing that. So many tech companies do, but it's so deliberate on the Pixel 8 vs 'pro'
I might go for 8 pro. Google is actually improving the smartphone experience and feels totally different from anything else. I have an s23 ultra and it only comes on if the pixel is being charged..
The 8 is perfect for everyday use. The Pro, while better, can't be justified imo. I mean, here in Canada you're looking at 1500$ for a small upgrade.. I love my P8.
3:13 I think Google will deliver these new AI features on Pixel Fold as a feature drop. Since Fold has G2, I think Pixel 7 & 7 Pro will get those features also. But At this point, I'm really hoping someone to port a GCam that will bring the manual control of Pixel 8 pro. It would be dope.
I just want to say, and im going back because i had a similar feature to this face editing or best shot thing on my Blackberry z10. I used this on vacation to my home town and i have a lot of family everyone was blown away by how i could do this to get a relatively good picture of all the kids looking at the camera. Of course this version is miles away from the blackberry one but it still was an impressive feature that i didnt see on any phone at the time.
For the audio eraser feature alone, NYC should never change their siren frequency. It won't work as well in most other cities where the frequency does dip lower and cross over with Cello
Google still does give you unlimited photos and vids but they aren't in their full quality, they will be compressed (unless you pay for the storage in full quality)
Love it, but Google needs to get rid of the GenAI Terms legal crap when Magic Editing a photo. Trying to make funny photos of family members, shrinking their heads or making them bigger and keeps violating GenAI rules.
While I appreciate the comments about paywalling, this doesn't seem new at all. The only thing I don't like is Google (and others) not just being transparent about it and just saying, these are the features you get with our Pro model phones. Otherwise, they're going to look worse if they get called out for being deceptive.
WIth Google Fi, this has got to be one of the best phones I paid for $400. The one negative is that I don't get the pixel buds pro for free but I see that as an opportunity to pick what I want or nothing at all and also I would still save about $100 if I do decide to buy it.
I'd kind of like to see the pic that they were talking about that was the issue in magic eraser. I grabbed one off twitter of an NFL player, highlighed him, moved him, let the AI fill in the back ground and it worked flawlessly.
Please, I need advice. Is this a better mobile than a Xiaomi 11Tpro? From what I understand, the Google pixel 8 gets updates for 7 years, which makes it up to date for that long. While Xiaomi is just getting older and older. Would you choose pixel8 over xiaomi 11tpro? Thanks in advance
I totally get the arguments of some software features being only on the pro. At the end of the day that's the reason the pro cost more. It still takes time and resources to make things like a pro camera mode and how they can recuperate development cost of certain things are by selling it on the more expensive phone. It's not fun but it is somewhat reasonable
I think phone size, ram, 3 cams and screen size is more than enough, locking software which can easily work on the other is just mean imo. Still getting the pixel 8.
@@D_veraz It still took man hours and resources to make the software. Also to be fair a couple of the features that are coming like the HDR processing stuff has to do with the RAM and not the tensor
I had pixel 7 and i m gonna be honest. The software is great and really good but i was really, like really dissappointed with the cameras. The photos were always so oversharpened and they looked bad, and what's the deal with that true tone?? i and everyone around me felt in photos was that it just made the tone of our skin darker, there was no "true tone" to it, there was nothing natural about it. Initially i was like maybe i dont know how to take photos with google, but i realised that it just takes bad photos. I was specially feeling it as i had s22 plus before my pixel7, my s22 plus was way better than that. So yeah i dont think i'll ever switch to a pixel again for its cameras.
I'm not sure why people are surprised with software only being on the Pro and not the regular Pixel 8. Almost all software has tiers where you spend more and get more features. And with hardware getting more and more similar it's not a surprise they are going to turn to software to differentiate, and I'm ok with it. The Pixel 8 is a hell of a phone, and the Pro is a hell of a phone. Are we really expecting them to be the same? Seems a bit silly to me
Juan Bagnell and Mr Mobile won’t pull any punches at all with any company. If there’s something that needs said about today’s tech, they’ll definitely shout it from the rooftops.
Bought an iphone 15 pro and a pixel 8 to compare/choose one, and I personally don't see how anybody can compare the two cameras. The iPhone blows the pixel out of the water on video, and the portrait mode makes a mockery of the pixel.
Yeah the only reason I didn't get the Pro was because of the size. I really wanted the new cameras and LTPO display, but I find even the 8 to be larger than I'd like coming from my Pixel 4, so the 8 Pro was an absolute no-go.
@@ShaggyKris I know it's not going to be the best for battery life with Always on Display, but if you want the best, get the Pro, I think I'll manage just fine with how I lightly use phones

David's point about the storage and gating into a ecosystem is spot on and very well observed! In B2B used do that for a while now under the term of Data Gravity, and then it was a real thing in terms of pain points, and by now has morphed into an easy margin source for providers. Bringing this sales strategy to end consumers is only logical. Margins on storage nowadays are insane, and the cost of moving is always with the end user. Well spotted David!

Reason I’m going back to iOS from P7 Pro is because of the screen … it looked so dull compared to my company’s iPhone that couldn’t make me keep using it. That and also the size. iPhone Pro and regular feel so good o my hands vs the larger pixel body
What is a photo? The answer is two fold: 1) "A way to save what you saw in real life" (This is where all of the algorithms for exposure, sharpness come in, cameras that small aren't quite as good as our eyes, so they need help to give us images like our eyes saw them.) 2) Editing is necessary to remember things, not as they were, but how they should have been! So remove that bag of Doritos in the background from your shot so you don't remember it as well 🙄 (This is where the magic eraser comes into play :) )
I love my pixel 8 pro. I originally went with the iphone 15 pro (coming from pixel 7) and other than iMessage, everything else in the iPhone feels just basic. Just an expensive basic phone. Just two weeks in and sold the iPhone 15 pro and got myself a pixel 8 pro

What I'm liking about the pixel 8 pro is the 50mp raw files, even from the telephoto lens they are great (after grading them in lightroom)
I think Andriod 14 is resonsible for battery life as my Pixel 6 Pro has gotten really good battery life since updating the OS.
6:05 my phone's google goes off
Me: out loud: "Do I sound like that? oh god"
@@fantasytky28well as somebody who has went from pixel 7 pro to s23 ultra to the pixel 8 pro they all feel about the same. I have noticed less slow down with the pixel 8 (zero) than with the s23 ultra if anything.
LOL, love to the editor that threw in the "Not like this".
What are you even talking about???
@@lexingtonconcord8751features on the pixel 8 pro which are gated from the standard 8
From which store you bought it?
Same here. Just got my Pixel and I have no complains.
That would make for a great video testing out best take
I just want to say, and im going back because i had a similar feature to this face editing or best shot thing on my Blackberry z10. I used this on vacation to my home town and i have a lot of family everyone was blown away by how i could do this to get a relatively good picture of all the kids looking at the camera. Of course this version is miles away from the blackberry one but it still was an impressive feature that i didnt see on any phone at the time.
The magic editor on Pixel 8 allows you to erase and generative fill
In ten years I've taken maybe about 30 photos.
Total.
..I cant wait pixels to have custom made TSMC Chips, after that pixels are gonna give a hard time for samsung and apple flagships..
Pixel 6 dng's were not 48 mp, they were 12. No pixel except the 8 pro have full resolution raw
this channel never disappiont, love it😀😀😀
I went from my Samsung A71 which was 3years to the pixel 8pro and holy crap what a difference
The magic eraser is next level
In regards to magic editor not moving Marques, I wonder because of his TH-cam fame, the AI recognizes him as some sort of copyrighted entity?
Best take works perfectly. You will love it if you have kids. Because you know how difficult is to get good photos with kids.
Marques: "Why can't I be moved?"
Google engineer: "Well, we wanted to stop racists from removing all the Black people"
Marques: *Visible confusion*
by far the most useful feature is audio magic eraser , even more than best take.
I have been praying for this phone to come to RSA🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 since the pixel 6
What is that LGBTQ flag
@KennHonson it's a South African flag bro 😅😅😅😅
I'd kind of like to see the pic that they were talking about that was the issue in magic eraser. I grabbed one off twitter of an NFL player, highlighed him, moved him, let the AI fill in the back ground and it worked flawlessly.
marques with the android beard lineup 🤖 love it
So everyone will look good no matter what…at least on photos. Lol.😂
You guys do an admirable job of not talking over one another.
@@D_veraz well according to them the camera bump up and the screen bump up isn't enough to warranty $300 difference.
Can I have a comparison video between the latest Galaxy, Pixel & iPhone. That would be really helpful.
Bought an iphone 15 pro and a pixel 8 to compare/choose one, and I personally don't see how anybody can compare the two cameras. The iPhone blows the pixel out of the water on video, and the portrait mode makes a mockery of the pixel.
WE NEED SMALLER Pro phones!
Only Apple offers a reasonable-sized Pro.
Tired of Mega phone sizes
Yeah the only reason I didn't get the Pro was because of the size. I really wanted the new cameras and LTPO display, but I find even the 8 to be larger than I'd like coming from my Pixel 4, so the 8 Pro was an absolute no-go.
@@ShaggyKris for me it was 120hz
@@Blackthorn_6895 Pixel 8 still gets 60-120Hz, but the Pro gets 1-120Hz. That's the LTPO display I'm talking about.
@@ShaggyKris I know it's not going to be the best for battery life with Always on Display, but if you want the best, get the Pro, I think I'll manage just fine with how I lightly use phones
@@Blackthorn_6895 already got the 8 at launch to replace my dying P4 because I knew I wanted a Pixel for many of the other QoL features they offer (Call Screen is just wonderful for robocalls), and as I said the size of the Pro basically made it a non-option for me.
Getting my P8 tomorrow 🥳
Moving from iphone 14 pro to Pixel 8 Pro, I am not finding the Battery to be great
Got my Phone yesterday. I'm officially pixel8d.
The P8P has made me decide to hang up the Nikon D800e, which is sad cause i like the control i have over every aspect of the D800e, and all the lens options.
I've found mine successfully makes me jump higher without an error. Could be accidentally separating a limb or something that's causing the no-no nessage
Is it worth upgrading from pixel 7?
David's point about the storage and gating into a ecosystem is spot on and very well observed! In B2B used do that for a while now under the term of Data Gravity, and then it was a real thing in terms of pain points, and by now has morphed into an easy margin source for providers. Bringing this sales strategy to end consumers is only logical. Margins on storage nowadays are insane, and the cost of moving is always with the end user. Well spotted David!
So, If the photo features needs to upload the photo to the cloud, what use have the Tensor G3?
Is there a way to tone down HDR?
I love this 8 Pro in my hand. Fantastic phone.
Does it have the same cameras as the pixel fold? what would you say are the key differences? Love your channels, especially autofocus.
Just ordered the regular Pixel 8 256 Gigs Hazel colour.....switching from my Galaxy Flip 4 since the folding mechanism is starting to malfunction....my first pixel device....fingers crossed...
how it went?
Reason I’m going back to iOS from P7 Pro is because of the screen … it looked so dull compared to my company’s iPhone that couldn’t make me keep using it. That and also the size. iPhone Pro and regular feel so good o my hands vs the larger pixel body
What is a photo? The answer is two fold:
1) "A way to save what you saw in real life" (This is where all of the algorithms for exposure, sharpness come in, cameras that small aren't quite as good as our eyes, so they need help to give us images like our eyes saw them.)
2) Editing is necessary to remember things, not as they were, but how they should have been!
Just two weeks in and sold the iPhone 15 pro and got myself a pixel 8 pro
what features are these
Can it chop chop for flashlight and twist camera features like Motorola?
I literally cancelled Dropbox to switch to Google Drive due to getting a Pixel. The storage ecosystem is real.
Congrats on 420k subs
The only thing holding back the Pixel is the processor. Tensor G3 is bad.
My Google Assistant went off both times! Hahaha
I got some annoying lenses flare in a video. But I think I’m happy with my pro
im curious if there will be a black Friday sale
Which ai camera features work offline?
Marques, my guess is that you can't use magic AI to edit your photos because you are a public figure. That's probably why it's violating the terms. You should try it with anonymous friends and other public figures to see what happens.
If you have pixel 4a 5g and before you still have free storage for original photos
The audio AI has been around for about 2 years now, and it's amazing that it's now on a phone, classifying what each sound is. I'm sure it's going to improve quickly.
I like the phone so far. Waiting for my next concert to see if it can record without muffling the audio.
