On behalf of my late grandfather, who served in the United States Army during peacetime, thank you for posting this as we said our final farewells to USMC Gunnery Sergeant Ronald Lee Ermey as he was laid to rest where he truly belonged in Arlington National Cemetery. Godspeed and God Bless Gunny. Take good care of my grandfather and all of our servicemen who have passed on into God's Holy Grace in Heaven. Semper Fidelis.
Your grandfather is loved and missed by so many, and what a fan base he still has. I will always remember him as the toy army seargent in my favorite movie Toy Story. Thank you for everything Gunny! “A good soldier never leaves a man behind!”
@@codylewis8359 Thanks. While my grandfather was U.S. Army, and R. Lee Ermey was U.S. Marine Corps, they both still served their country with protecting it during the Cold War between the USA and USSR, and both were given the military sendoff they deserved when their ashes were interred. I apologize if my original comment caused any confusion as my grandfather served in a separate unit and branch of the U.S. military from Gunny.
R.I.P. Gunny. God Bless You. And your family Shervic Prouse. Thank you for sharing this. He was a special man indeed. We now see why with a wonderful family at his side.
Hello from Ireland. What a Wonderful Human Being Gunny Ermey was, and someone who many, including myself all the way over here in Ireland, looked up to. I guess many people didn't get him too, but I suppose those of us who have been Blessed to have those who served in the military, well we were the lucky ones, and I often wonder, was there Irish ancestry in the family, he always did have a very Irish cheeky glint in his eye! Ar Dheis De go raibh an Anam. (Gaelic: May His Soul be at the Right of God.)
I serve on our local VFW Military Rites Team where after 21 years I'm closing in on 2000 funerals. But don't thank me. Don't ever thank me. I am the one who is thankful to have such an honor to give to our veterans what they rightfully deserve.
These guys gave gunny a great send off, they honored him the way he should have been. RIP gunny, and thank you for all that you've done! From a greatful citizen! We're going to miss you.
MRS. GUNNY, and family really thank you so much for your love and respect to this GREAT MARINE that we love so much. YOU and your children are such credit to our tribe. Viva Las Pilipinas. SALAMAT
May the gunnery sergeant rest in peace but I know damn well he's guarding the pearly Gates of heaven and training others to guard as well on this golden streets of heaven
I was just thinking about The Gunny. I had to come here and remember further. The United States of America's testosterone level dropped significantly when he died. It may never recover.
Sorry you lost your husband and father too early, he was a man who inspired and was loved. But none more so than his own family. I married a filippina too and they are strong women who create strong families and marry strong husband's. God bless
I didn't know he was cremated I saw a celebration of him where they unloaded his casket from a hurse and took him into a church and they had a open casket where gunny was dressed in his marine uniform while another older marine was standing guard over him
My husband Bill had a hard time watching this movie the DI was just as bad as his Navy command who ended up committing suicide after he had assaulted half of the Navy recruits. Afterwards he punched out the ood

What I like about Americans is that when they find a hero, they raise them up to where they belong ✨️
