@@bdh711as rich parents you should NOT pamper your kids up, or they will end up acting entitled and Spoiled. You should teach kids to be happy with what they have: nature, board games, friends, house, family. Many rich kids are being raised like that, only a few are raised like spoiled brats and they end up becoming a bad person with no good future.
My dress was custome design as well but my aunt is a seamstress and we only paid her for the materials not labor which was nice of her. I certainly did not look like I was going to vegas like these girls.
Order your custom made dresses 6-9 months in advance. Pick them up at least a month before event, so there is time to fix anything. Learn to sew basic things, so you can mend small imperfections yourself if needed.
You obviously come from a neighborhood familiar with sophistication and all the delicate rules that makes life run as smooth as possible. This feature story is not about such a neighborhood but rather just 'da hood'.
I agree. Gotta learn to say “no” to people especially if you can’t deliver. However her mistake doesn’t give anyone the right to behave illegally or irrationally.
It’s not the dress, it’s the money AND the principle….that person said they could deliver and they didn’t….and we’ve only heard one side of the story..I don’t play with nobody’s money.
So pathetic, it's totally disgusting. A custom made dress for a prom? You have got to be kidding. It's a prom people, put your priorities in perspective !! Stop going through your entire life assaulting people, stop it. Grow up.
You mean over hard earned money. I don’t condone violence but let’s not act like these weren’t thousands or hundreds of dollars. Includes big emotional harm for these ppl
I question the judgement of a parent who would order a prom dress from a designer that makes dresses that look more appropriate for a Las Vegas showgirl than a student.
And they want it for way less than the material and labor is costs for a dress like that. I’m not condoning bad behavior on either part but with that being said there definitely was bad behaviors from all parties
How old are you? Clearly you don't know how these kids get down.. What u see here isn't a pinhead ink spot on how these are going to prom looking. These kids are riding in Telsa's, Lamborghini's, Maybach's Rolls Royce's, High end Corvette's, Bugatti's. With dresses, suits, shoes, hair and accessories more elaborate than THAN PEOPLE'S WEDDING'S.. SO PLEASE, STOP.. THESE KID'S ARE NO WHERE NEAR COMPARABLE TO TEENS OF YESTER YEAR.. ATP, IT'S LUDACRIS TO EVEN MENTION HOW KIDS USE TO BE AND BEHAVE.. FOR SOME YEARSSSSSSSSSS NOW.. IT'S BEEN A VEGAS SHOW AT THESE KIDS PROM'S... SAME WITH BABY SHOWERS.. LIKE REALLY HOW OLD ARE YOU?? BCAUSE I'M COMPLETELY CONFUSION RIGHT NOW..
I have to admit I'm on the dressmakers side! As a hairdresser people expect so much of you at prom time! A lot of people wait until the last minute! Girls that are never satisfied I mean never! If you rush me as a hairdresser you will not get my best! This Curl should be a little tighter than that curl! It just never ends!✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼

Take your time.” No you’re paying for a service…don’t serve if you can’t service.
When prom season came for me my mom took me to a local boutique store that sold donated prom dresses. I picked out my dress there, tried it on, and it fit perfectly we also got it at a lower cost. I feel sry for the kids growing up in this bizarre Era. Everything is so rushed it's riddiclous and people are more quick to resort to violence.
Agree! In our village, students can buy discounted dresses at a local community store as well in town. The girls who only wore the dress once last year, would bring it, shoes and accessories as well, to the community store. Why throw the money away when you can buy a nice inexpensive dress?!😢😢😢
You are so right! This is not the lesson that these parents should be teaching their kids. They should be teaching their kids financial responsibility and the value of hard earned money. How many hours did they have to work to afford the dress that would be worn for one night? This has gotten out of hand. We should teach our kids to be a better person and a good citizen that contributes to the good of society. Too much entitlement and selfishness is what this generation is learning. SMH
i feel bad for you for looking down on parents that wants the best for their child's prom. it's not everyday you get to attend prom. and what's wrong with wanting to look pretty? it's their choice. you don't get a say to any of that.
I'm a designer and I will never do prom again. Ever. It's stressful. People don't show up for fittings. They want the wrong fabric or dress. Just too much work for the headache. Always have a backup dress when dealing with a designer. And make sure you get the dress way in advance. Make sure you go to all your fittings. Make payments instead of full payments. If the dress is not coming along after the second fitting, just move on. If the designer doesn't get back with you. Red flag. It's really easy to get in over your head. A really good custom dress takes time. You can't rush it.
Yep peoples Idea vs reality. I remember my mom got talked into making something for someone. She did it exactly how thay wanted and even used the fabric they brought. The friend didn't like the look of it and her complaint was the fabric. Yep sewing an fabric don't change the fabric. My mom said it would have looked better if she had been able to pick better fabric. My mom only sews for me because I love her stuff. Also I cut out all her fabric for her and sew all the button holes and will hand pleat anything. Basically I do all the fiddly time consuming work.
Some of these parents focus WAY TOO MUCH on prom and dress and not enough on their children going to college. To attack someone over a dress, then to steal dreases. Calling someone every second will delay work. Smh
@@chinaarlene7035Many graduates can not find jobs nor internships after college. Therefore, college is a waste, becaue they don't have any income to start repaying their student loan debt.
Mine for my senior prom was $75 and I donated it to a charity the following Monday. For my junior prom, I borrowed a dress from a friend's older sister that went to another school. A custom dress is unnecessary for a high school prom, imo...it aint that serious!
I will never ever understand this obsession with prom. I had to buy my own dress. All i could afford was a plain satin $89 ball gown. I added some touches myself. I graduated in 2006. You know how often i think of my prom? Almost never. Only on occasions where prom is discussed.
Same I got a dress from mall granted I was afraid I see the dress over n over again at prom but I only saw one my dress was basic but I felt good in it just happy to be able to attend prom happy to graduate things are different now it's all a show I graduated in o6 too
First dress was made but was a part of a set (my sisters were going to go with me) they back out last minute and the dress wasn't exactly my style anyway (too revealing) my mom took me to the mall the day before I purchased a $30 dress and it was nice. Got many complements that day.
This is ridiculous, all this for some who I’m sure barely will graduate, granted the greedy dress maker should not have taken more orders than she could handle, but people get a grip.
@@embrown109 I hope they do graduate and end up successful in life if the bought a prom dress or not ...I hope all children graduate and live life abundantly, peace light and love I wish the best in any situation and everyone ❤️🙏❤️
Prom should be something that all kids can enjoy, not just those with parents willing to spend crazy money on dresses as if they are in a beauty pageant or getting married. These parents need to teach these kids about being a good person and enjoying things without spending their rent money on trying to out dress each other. Some kids don't feel that they can go because they can't afford a fancy red carpet dress. Then here is the issue of parents letting their kids go to school functions looking like they working at a strip club. I don't know what is wrong with these parents and the schools are so terrified of the crazy screaming parents that they will not enforce any kind of common sense rules. Yes, we should all have freedom of expression, and that includes our clothing, but sadly, humans need guidelines. School and school functions are not the place to dress like they've got a $300 date at midnight. These girls need to be taught self love and pride in themselves and that they don't need to expose their bodies to be loved. They can be attractive without being naked. Remember, we all teach others how to treat us.
They're not dressing for prom anymore. *They're dressing for likes! Social media has done so much damage to society in general, teen girls mainly, and it's extremely disturbing!*
This is ridiculous. You can get a beautiful prom dress from department stores for less money and less stress. It seems to me that custom dresses are never made as well as the ones sold in stores. I wouldn’t trust getting a custom dress, especially for such important occasions like your wedding or prom. Because if anything goes wrong, then you’re screwed. Just buy from a store where you can see what you’re getting and try it on right away instead of at the last minute. Eliminate the unnecessary stress and don’t waste your time and money.
Disagree custom dresses are typically better . The items are suited for your body in addition better fabric is used. I’m not sure if you have ever had custom pieces but with the right designer it’s no comparison to a department store item.
You are right and most of the time the store bought dresses (altered to fit) look waaay better than the 'designer,' dresses by far. More often than not these days those look better suited for a strip club. Tina
I disagree about custom dresses lmao. You just have to go to the right person. If you go to a scammer, you get scammed. Both my homecoming dresses were dresses that had issues with them from stores. I got a bridesmaids dress with a few missing gems and a prom dress that needed a hook and eye replacement. The prom dress was made incredibly cheaply, and it was from Dillard's. But it was pretty and 75 dollars 😂. I fixed it myself.
That's exactly what I say. Read my comment if u like. These people that call them a designer is crazy. Some people have way too much confidence when it comes to talent, etc
People sleep on David Bridal's clearance rack. Man I'm telling you, there are some nice dresses there. Less than $40. Plus you can get them to alter it to your measurements. As opposed to dealing with the drama of a stranger that might scam you out of your hard-earned cash and make you catch a case.
If only parents would work with the teachers this hard for their daughters/sons to work hard and get good grades and respect teachers life would be so easy for them 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ The likes gives me hope, that there are more parents out there who do the right thing to help their children. Lets bless our children with education it’s one of the main weapon to success! Let them get that designer prom outfit for their As & Bs ❤️❤️
The designer over promised, which impacted the work. Especially if she had an employee that wasn't doing their job appropriately. So if she was trying to fix the dresses herself, she will not have time to address the customer complaints. It sucks but it is what it is. Be patient and let her process the refunds. Not everything in life will be perfect.
💯 She wrong for this, but physical abuse? It's not gonna get your daughter her prom dress, and it could land you in jail. Communication is keyyyyy. And I know we want to support small business, but make sure you look at *genuine* reviews before give away your cash. There are scammers, and then there are people like this, who don't seem to understand business. She shouldn't have taken in more orders than she could deliver. But I always stand by non violence, unless it's in physical defense.
No, she had an employee who flaked on her, so she dealt with it; fired her, hired THREE more. She's on top of it, unlike the over-privileged parents trying to re-live their failed proms thru their kids. Sad, really.
Imagine going through life punching people out? Every time something doesn't go your way, what, you have to get violent? A total lack of any class at all.
People lead with what they know. Looking at the overall street-walker style of dress they all ordered I can assure you that violence is not their only problem.
Wow. Prom has gotten way outta hand. Designer dresses for prom? This was 20 years ago, but I had my older cousin drive me 100 miles to the next big city to a David’s Bridals shop to buy a beautiful dress (we live in a tiny town that doesn’t have much clothing store options). And I thought THAT was insane of me to do. I thank my mom she gave me the money and permission to do that. I loved my dress and prom was a great memory. ❤
DESIGNER prom dresses?????Wow, wow wow. If only these parents cared just half as much about education and teaching responsibility but that's not the world we live in.
🍳s actly. I paid $200.00 4 my wedding dress yrs ago ..😂😂😂 It was a return and on clearance......and was exquisite. Sold it later 4 more than I paid 4 it too! 😂😂😂
As the owner/designer of the business she is responsible for making sure the workmanship of the clothing she delivers is up to par regardless if she or her employee / seamstress directly worked on the item. Allow enough time to construct the dress . A seamstress I know starts a year in advance with a 6 month cut off date . If you didn't order on time sorry you aren't going to be able to order a dress through her.
Some people just love saying yes & accepting payment for work they know they don't have the time to do. I know it can be hard if you're not quite used to the workload & don't know how much is too much vs how much is too little, but those who know & still say yes are inviting drama.
So, if you got orders right then you have employee's working for you that intentionally mess up and don't care. halfway through It'll still be your fault right?
@@floflo8153 maybe she normally takes on big workloads. maybe she DOES make several beautiful dresses on a weekly basis for young women.- she stated there was a giant mess up with some of her shops employees prior to the proms taking place. i wonder if that had anything to do with the outcome of the dresses. yes its her job to make sure everything is par, but we dont know if this is the first time that this has happened. maybe she normally does work on several dresses at a time with them still turning out gorgeous & this time just didnt work out like normal.
@kenna maree Idk... but it looks like her customers were working/talking with HER directly at most points in the design or buying process because she is who they complained to & attacked. (NOT at all saying they should have attacked her!) They complained that they weren't getting their refunds, so all of that was the fault of her workers? The workload AND lack of quick response & refunds have nothing to do with her?
I've seen quite a few of these prom dress disasters in last several weeks and in all of them the dresses were over-priced, ill-fitted, and inappropriate for prom.
...what difference does that make? If I pay for something...I should get the thing I paid for...that statement about "you're not a bride!" is your personal values, that shouldn't matter.
yeah for my senior prom i didnt know i was officially going to go until VERY last minute in a VERY tight budget. wanna know what i ended up going with?? a $30 cocktail length cream sweetheart neckline dress with a black satin bow around the waist…and a mini tiara lol. all from charlotte russe!! i was able to dance and had a blaaaasssst!
I bought a 60 dollar dress one year and my friends friend curled my hair! I had a blast! Another year my mom made my dress and I went alone w a girlfriend and had a blast!
Hi love this girl back in the 80s my mom and Godmother made my dress too it was nice you might not hear about prindalins at the bottom of your dress .I end up winning the prom dress award for the night .keep safe you all just try to love each other and get along it's going to be okay love ❤️ everyone.
I bet it was more fun than going with a date. For one thing Parents aren't so worried about what's happening and you two can stay out and socialize with others with no one questioning or expecting you to concentrate on them. Lol.
@@joannm-m9953 You are right about that. Prom is a pretty predictable event. Dressmaking has a pretty predictable timeline. There was money to be made and ambition may have gotten the best of her. However, there's no reason to physically assault someone. A sensible person would have that dress brought in a week earlier than the event just to have a fitting and check the quality. Then, when that dress doesn't come in on time, they would go with a back up. Then again, a sensible person isn't spending a small fortune for their daughter a designer custom one-night costume dress that looks like it's for a Las Vegas showgirl.
Exactly. She can blame a lousy employee all she wants, but she's supposed to be running the show and in charge of quality control. Seems like she dropped the ball.
Exactly. And she should not be blaming her customers. If they paid and they expected something, the deserve a response from her. Not responding to calls and giving them bad products, is irresponsible. Bad business. She has a lot to learn.
Please! Any of those parents could have paid the $7k it costs to get a designer dress made for their daughters and I'm sure they would have gotten what they wanted, and on time. Instead, they want to pay a few hundred bucks, request designs that are inappropriate for the bodies, and then want it done instantaneously. I am a dressmaker and *REFUSE* to do prom dresses. Never have, never will.
who would pay 7k for a prom dress? that’s literally insane & such a waste of money. get a dress from a few seasons back, no one else will have it & it’ll cost basically nothing.
I remember back in the day my family got my prom dress from David's Bridal and it was a beautiful dress. I imagine that many kids would find that laughable now. But I understood the financial struggles that my mom was going through even while working full-time. I would have never even considered asking her to buy me a designer prom dress. That just seemed opulent, wasteful, and unrealistic to me at the time even as a high schooler. These parents need to help their kids see reality or else they will be chasing a fake Instagram life forever.
Don't worry , these custom-made prom dresses are put on a credit card making minimum payments on the dress for 10 years. Assaulting a person over a dress, now I've heard everything. It's called ''no class".
The school my daughter goes to... Set up a boutique like shop in a classroom for the girls to pick donated dresses ( she found a 2 piece dress & in the color she wanted ) a teacher at her school that does hair also did her hair and makeup) one of the lunch ladies who look at my daughter as a little sister took her shoe & purse shopping... I gave her the money for her prom ticket....
This is such a great idea!!! I can’t even imagine how parents can afford to be so extravagant for one single event!! Not to mention these stupid balloons arch things that all the girls want now and Some parents are even out here renting sports cars and Teslas all for pictures!! Ridiculous!! You only wear that dress one single time!! Why not donate it to the next girl to enjoy!! The dang ticket to the prom alone is like at least $100 so where do parents even get this kind of $ for these over the top Prom’s?!? I love the idea of donating or a borrowing boutique for a dress to wear!! 💜
Note: Dont take on more than you can handle, ESPECIALLY when it comes to someones money. When you do to many things a once, you start to rush and make mistakes.
I think we as ppl tend to look at the money and not look any farther. I believe that's what she did here. She didn't think about the amount of work it would've taken to actually get the job done. But putting hands on her....i feel like we're too old for that. The term "hit em where it hurts" doesn't mean physically.
This is why you start preparing for Senior Prom during Junior year. These designers get overwhelmed and try to rush things to keep that money. Mistakes happen but my biggest issue with this designer is how she didn't take full accountability for HER business. Instead she blamed her WORKER... I'd never do business with her. Sorry not Sorry 🤷🏽♀️
My wedding dress wa $40 on clearance at a high end department store in 1977. It was beautiful, fit perfectly, and fit my personality and style like it was made for me. A Gunney Sax in antiqued cotton gauze with delicate embroidery on cuffs, neckline and pearl buttons. I designed most everything I wore and always assumed I'd make my own dress. I even had a few patterns I was considering. The dress was too perfect to pass up. Size 5, curvy and 5 feet tall made ready-to-wear iffy for me (why I made my own clothes) but the dress just needed hemming. I made my SnowBall dresses. Just sold the whole lot when I drastically downsized. I had kept some of the very favorites I had made all these years. Had an estate sale, the room with all my sewing in it was busy and had happy excited voices coming from it according to a neighbor that visited the sale. Made me feel so good that my work was appreciated so much. And all those vintage patterns! If I had a hope of ever fitging into any of them again I wouldn't have been able to get rid of them but at 66, that ship has sailed. Happy proming everyone! Learn to sew!
😢unfortunately even as a business owner, you cant always trust the people that you entrust to work for you .She appears to be a legit designer with lackluster dress designer assistants, employees are probably responsible but she's just as liable.
What was the name of the shop? Sigali? I want to search her out and help her. This is sad. She did not deserve to be attacked even if she was unable to come through. Everyone should have a backup plan in case of things like this.
@@AlmtyIsis111, I agree; if her business was being overwhelmed with orders, it's wrong to deliver a half-completed disaster. The owner is responsible for missing deadlines and shoddy work. We saw photos of awful dresses; where are the owner's photos of refund documents? Delivering a gown one hour before the prom? Oh hail no! Blaming clients is not the way to build a reputation as a respectable businesswoman.
That's what it sounds like happened. Lackluster work from employees/contractors/freelancers has happened to me before, and I ended up having to work so hard and put out so much additional money I ended up in the ER with sky high blood pressure before the project was over. 😒
The designer is a talented artist but maybe took on too many clients for a job with a hectic deadline. But those violent karen parents are just way over the top in their responses. She should definitely press charges for assault.
Despite these designer prom dresses, not meeting up to what they may or may not have been promised, some of these parents, are clearly conveying a message to their teens that, when doing business or in general, if a material object they've paid for doesn't meet your standards or they feel they've been ripped off or something merely doesn't go their way, it's totally worth physically attacking a person, being charged, going to jail, being convicted and obtaining a criminal record that could hold them back in the future.
I hope this young businesswoman learned her lesson. Part of being a respected business owner is to know how to scale your business properly so that you can fulfill your promises to your customers and build trust and get referrals and repeat business. Once you've burnt people who trusted you, even if it wasn't your fault, it's hard to work yourself back from that, because while it may have not been your fault, it's was your business -- literally.
And also type of people she hires. And she mustvalso tell herself she will take only this much pro. Dress orders so if nobody comes in she be able to do it herself. When she takes greedy orders this is also what happens.
So what, she deserved to be assaulted? Stop it!! There are other ways of handling the situation before you start assaulting people, unless you have no class at all and feel your fists are doing the talking for you. How sad is that?
@@lisab.1595 I can see why you or some people would think "learning a lesson" means getting beaten up, but that is NOT AT ALL what I meant. I meant that if this lady wants to be a successful business woman, she needs to take FULL responsibility for her own business and learn to properly scale. I did NOT mean AT ALL that physically assaulting her was IN ANY way justified. The people who did should be persecuted. The fact that you thought that _THAT_ is that I meant is sadder than anything else to be honest.
@@lisab.1595 The OP is correct. It is the business owner’s responsibility to meet the delivery deadlines. Don’t accept the jobs if you can’t deliver the final products on time.

The average reading score for CPS 11th grade students was 463.8 and the average math score was 448.8, nearly 23 points lower than the state average in reading and 25 points lower in math
I don’t think that’s what happened here. There was a story about one also prom dress designer getting robbed in Chicago, BADLY and caused her to lose 30k. It think it’s her. Something terrible happened and she’s dealing with it best she can. Of course there will be a lag bw the ideal people envisioned and the reality she’s now able to produce bc of that trauma. These people could be understanding and start preparing a backup dress but they are wild animals so they think it makes sense to make bigger noise instead.
It sounds like she's blaming a lot of people and not taking responsibility for her actions because if someone else made that dress you let it leave your store looking like that so you are a hundred percent responsible.
I’ve never seen a “custom” designed prom dress that actually looked good. They usually look cheap, mediocre and tacky. It’s best just to get an evening dress from a high-end store. Probably less cost, less stress and better design.
Those are rip offs that make these poirly made dresses and charge 1000 or more. My daughters seamstess was fraud its like she thru spandex material together and put to spots of appliques on her dress Lynn botched my daughters dress never again
They're afraid of showing up with the same dress as someone else. I remember back in the day at my H.S. when two cheerleaders were beefing when they discovered they were going to buy the same dress. One eventually decided on a different dress.
A well-made custom made dress, sewn by a skilled seamstress, will look as good as anything from a store, especially if you get your foundation garments right. But the emphasis is on the phrase well-made. It seems this designer took more orders than she could reasonably fulfill in the given time and her employee started to cut corners, especially with the finishing.
People shouldn’t assault someone based on their feelings. Still, this woman shouldn’t have been accepting orders without the ability to fulfill them. I can see right through the bs explanation and excuses…she got greedy and couldn’t deliver.

It is the designers fault for not having any type of quality control on her products before being handed over to the customer. She should be the one fully inspecting every dress before they handed over to a customer. If she can't find the time to do that, then she should not be a business owner and just work as a seamstress for someone else

Most of the dresses worn to prom the past few years are very sexy.I am sure there are policies at some schools but others are lax. A young girl needs to look like a young girl, not a version of a celebrity they see on tv.
Man, the movie Pretty in Pink has a whole new meaning. A million years ago there was a mistake on my dress BUT I WAS so grateful to get to have a blast at my prom and in fact WE ALL jumped in the lake and didn't care about our dresses. Both sides are wrong.
My dress was made for my prom '99, simply bc I was a G-cup and couldnt find a dress I wasnt spilling out of. However, my mom went to a renowned seamstress, and was willing to put forth the effort to ensure things were perfect. Weekly fittings, design tweaks, etc. If you opt to not do that, this video will be your result. You get what you pay for.
If you are entitled enough to afford a custom prom dress in todays world the least you could do is not hassle people who are trying to do work for you. The vast majority of Americans can no longer afford such things.
My prom dress was $3 at Goodwill and i altered it myself with my mom. I got a lot of compliments and it was unique. That was 25 years ago, but you should still be able to make a great dress under $100, and its a great bonding experience for mother and daughter.
Ugh, one glance at the designs makes me thankful not to have children in high school. People make a big deal out of the wrong things. It's not nearly as important how you look on the outside as it is to reflect a beautiful character on the inside.
It's really beyond comprehension. They're acting like they're going to the Oscars. If you're self-confident your outfit shouldn't be the most important thing about the prom. It's about being with your classmates and having a good time. A fancy dress means nothing.
Sad situation. Any customer who attacked or harassed the designer is also at fault. The designer fell behind because of an employee but she would have known days in advance if the dresses could not be appropriately finished on time and should have issued refunds and given as much notice as possible so that families could find new dresses.
If this designer had an issue with creating those dresses, why not have a limit on the number of clients? Or reimburse & give notice to the customers a month in advance for being unable to finish their orders? Also the designer could organize a quality check for her employees' projects and make sure it's up to her standards days before its deadline. I know business is rough but it's going to be a lot rougher if your reputation as a shop is tarnished.
Customers please remember that if she is on the phone with everyone who ordered a dress, she can't be making the dress. I saw this a lot in healthcare, if you want results faster stop calling! She should have recorded a message explaining what was happening and that she couldn't answer calls and work.
The owner obviously bit off more than she could chew and she needs to take accountability for that. You need extremely experienced designers working under you when you are taking on dresses that are so intricately detailed, working on a tight deadline for a big event such as prom. I'm not surprised these mom's are so serious about these dresses, a lot of time and money is spent when planning prom and they expect professionalism. To attack the owner was absolutely wrong and there's no excuse for it. The owner shouldn't have taken on such a workload that her and her employees couldn't handle.
I had my prom dress handmade, the lady shop was down the street from my neighborhood l I would walk there to see about my dress. It was a beautiful shoulder-less hunter green dress. She made that dress very well, and I pray and hope she is living and well. My sister two yrs younger than me wore it to her prom as well. That’s how well made the dress and material was..
Of the few I saw they look awful. This is when someone claims they are a designer and opens a shop and cannot compete with the demand as they are not qualified
I feel like no group is more demanding with so little clue than teenagers who don't get the idea of process or even just how the world works yet. But throw in their parents too and just... ugh.
She probably posted pictures of work and designs that weren’t hers if I had to guess. She’s basically a home sewing hobbyist. That is not stitch work good enough to ask for money at all.
She really should have limited the number of dress orders she could take. Though I was wondering, where did all these kids pop out asking for custom dresses for a prom? I guess because most high-schoolers have that group mentality, one saw a custom-made prom dress somewhere and so they _all_ needed to get one? Who can even afford a custom dress right now?

Clearly she’s taken on more than she can handle. Sometimes you just have to say NO, I’m all booked up this season. As far as blaming her employee, shame on her. This is her business and she is ultimately responsible. I don’t know anyone who buys dresses without seeing them first and trying them on.
I haven't seen her pieces before this prom but she may have just taken on too many customers without the proper staff or resources. And work will suffer if you're trying to uphold those commitments under increasing pressure and a dwindling timeline.
I think her solution is she has to select her costumers better and don't accept more work than she can deliver. Now for the assault please go to the authorities and denounce the incident is ridiculous to be assaulted over a prom dress.
Has nothing to do with selecting her customers better but everything to do with time management. As a professional designer, she should've had an idea of how long it takes to complete the finished product from the first meeting to the completed dress, the bucks stopped with her no need to mention an X employee because those dresses should've had her stamp of approval before being shipped / delivered.
So many haters in the comments mad at the parents for spending THEIR money on THEIR children. Poor babies, Who raised you? My parents spent lots of money on my prom dress, my high school graduation, and my college graduation. Let these people do what they want for their kids. Just because you DIDN’T get it from your parents doesn’t make it right. I’ll return the favor when I have children and I don’t care who dislikes it because it’s MY money. My kids will graduate college debt free and all of these events will be just as memorable and expensive as mine was. If someone follows another route to save money then that’s Their Choice. To each THEIR own.

I had my prom dress custom made and designed by me. Including a cape as well...that was in 1973. I worked 3 part time jobs and went to high school. I was busy and no longer living at home. 🙏
As a business owner you have to take responsibility, not blame your employees then share all the excuses on national television. Apologize (perception is reality) regardless of your reasons. So make it right, if a customer is not happy and the dress was not worn (or returned prior to prom date) then issue a refund.
For my senior prom I literally only got a $50 just black dress but did my hair n makeup as Helena from MCR! Got the most compliments on my whole look! It’s prom y’all not a wedding
How insane all this unnecessary drama over a prom dress!!!! A prom dress should be the least of their worries and concerns! and I hope they show that same energy if and when they're graduating from college and not high school!!!!🙄
If a prom dress is their biggest problem in life, they're in for a big surprise down the road. Stop assaulting people for heavens sake. It's a dress, put it into perspective.
God bless this young lady! Prom is stressful. I know she was stressed. Hopefully next year, she is better prepared and won't take on more than she can handle. I had girls in my chair crying over their hair, the car they didn't get to drive, red bottoms they couldn't afford, venues they couldn't book for their send off, lace front wigs that weren't installed/melted properly. The emphasis on prom is reminiscent of weddings. Expensive and unreal.
Sounds like the young designer got in way over her head regarding orders for dresses. It looks like she does good work, but she doesn't have the staff to do the work. Those designer gowns take time & lots of work. Even top designers like Chanel w/ a fleet of seamstresses take weeks to finish one dress.
I don't know ladies....what do y'all think? Doesn't sound too good in my book because of how persistent she is on blaming her "former employee". For someone who's innocent and isn't in the wrong , sure seems like she has a lot of problems with clients and employees. I feel bad for the girls just getting their dress on prom day too😢

Order your custom made dresses 6-9 months in advance. Pick them up at least a month before event, so there is time to fix anything. Learn to sew basic things, so you can mend small imperfections yourself if needed.

I will never ever understand this obsession with prom. I had to buy my own dress. All i could afford was a plain satin $89 ball gown. I added some touches myself. I graduated in 2006. You know how often i think of my prom? Almost never. Only on occasions where prom is discussed.

Teach your kid to enjoy prom without worrying about what others are buying and doing

The designer is in the wrong but should definitely not be assaulted. You have to be able to communicate with the clients. They can’t all be wrong.
They can buy a dress and it will still serve the purpose. And have A great evening.

Idk... but it looks like her customers were working/talking with HER directly at most points in the design or buying process because she is who they complained to & attacked. (NOT at all saying they should have attacked her!)

I hope she took legal action against the people who assaulted her and stole from her. She does owe a lot of customers an apology and a refund, though.

Why are you so hot to call someone greedy? Is it an environmental thing for you?
That’s what small claims court is for. Violence is not the answer.
WOW I would say most are totally inappropriate for young girls to wear to prom!
😢unfortunately even as a business owner, you cant always trust the people that you entrust to work for you .She appears to be a legit designer with lackluster dress designer assistants, employees are probably responsible but she's just as liable.
Don't take on the work you won't have to make. It's greed
What was the name of the shop? Sigali? I want to search her out and help her. This is sad. She did not deserve to be attacked even if she was unable to come through. Everyone should have a backup plan in case of things like this.
She didn’t seem legit at all to me.
@@AlmtyIsis111,
I agree; if her business was being overwhelmed with orders, it's wrong to deliver a half-completed disaster.
Nobody gonna talk about her sketch book having a figure looking like big foot walking across the page?

Example of greed. Don’t take on orders you can’t fulfill, it’s simple.
I wanna know how much they paid. Because we paid $625 for our dress and it was immaculate. This is prom not a wedding. Y’all better get right.
Probably not cheaper though
Yep.
People shouldn’t assault someone based on their feelings. Still, this woman shouldn’t have been accepting orders without the ability to fulfill them. I can see right through the bs explanation and excuses…she got greedy and couldn’t deliver.
I get that. However, why steal other girls dresses? That isn't right either.

There's absolutely No reason to physically assault anyone. Now she has a case against you for assault and theft for stealing dresses.
It is the designers fault for not having any type of quality control on her products before being handed over to the customer.
She should be the one fully inspecting every dress before they handed over to a customer.
If she can't find the time to do that, then she should not be a business owner and just work as a seamstress for someone else

blaming an imaginary employee is an unfortunate choice. She bit off too much to swallow, simple as that, which is forgivable if she provides refunds.
She might be taking too many orders and she can’t handle them. But there’s no excuse for the physical attack and thefr.
Most of the dresses worn to prom the past few years are very sexy.I am sure there are policies at some schools but others are lax. A young girl needs to look like a young girl, not a version of a celebrity they see on tv.
Some of these designs look like striper clothes with a long skirt attached to the side. 😢

Very trashy*
Man, the movie Pretty in Pink has a whole new meaning. A million years ago there was a mistake on my dress BUT I WAS so grateful to get to have a blast at my prom and in fact WE ALL jumped in the lake and didn't care about our dresses. Both sides are wrong.
A million years ago
My dress was made for my prom '99, simply bc I was a G-cup and couldnt find a dress I wasnt spilling out of. However, my mom went to a renowned seamstress, and was willing to put forth the effort to ensure things were perfect. Weekly fittings, design tweaks, etc. If you opt to not do that, this video will be your result. You get what you pay for.
Mine too the having breast is bad for business for regular dresses .. had to get a special bra too
@@naynayjones9166 I can def relate. My bras are the most expensive part of my wardrobe. I envy women who can get a bra from anywhere 😩
Well that’s u and that’s them and that’s it
Ugh, one glance at the designs makes me thankful not to have children in high school. People make a big deal out of the wrong things. It's not nearly as important how you look on the outside as it is to reflect a beautiful character on the inside.
Well said 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
People are allowed to make a big deal about looking like a princess at prom. Its adults judging in the comments who have something wrong with them 👀
Everyone in this situation is ridiculous. Everything about this situation is ridiculous.
🎯
Not the type to think ahead
It sounds like she was overwhelmed. Perhaps she should stop taking orders 1-2 months BEFORE prom, take less clients and charge more for 2 of a kind.
You know what you can do if something like this happens,Go to your local Thrift stores and Bridal stores..
Wow I follow her on IG and her designs are beautiful. She took on more than she could handle. Great designer not so great business woman.
I feel like no group is more demanding with so little clue than teenagers who don't get the idea of process or even just how the world works yet. But throw in their parents too and just... ugh.
What's her IG? I'd like to support her.

This is why home economics need to be mandatory. Learning to sew should be a skill every woman has in America as well as reading dress patterns.
We had family,y studies ibpn school for boys and girls. Guys sewed a tshirt, and ,earned to ha d sew buttons, repair jeans. They loved the sewing machines for simple projects. They learned basic cooking. In shoppe we girls learned about wood what type to use for what projects, used various simp,e saws to hakecute projects. Hos to use a drill. We even .earned asic welding, I liked that. Then we switched back and did more indepth sewing and cooking while the guys learned more home basics like drains etc. It was helpful for all.
Clearly she’s taken on more than she can handle. Sometimes you just have to say NO, I’m all booked up this season. As far as blaming her employee, shame on her. This is her business and she is ultimately responsible. I don’t know anyone who buys dresses without seeing them first and trying them on.
As a sewer for many years, i have never have turned out anything like some of those dresses. I take pride in my work.
I haven't seen her pieces before this prom but she may have just taken on too many customers without the proper staff or resources. And work will suffer if you're trying to uphold those commitments under increasing pressure and a dwindling timeline.
Personally, why not just buy a dress off the rack and have it altered?
It is just prom. 😂😢😅😅
That's what I did for my daughter. Spent $140 for a gown from Macy's--on sale. Spent $25 to have it altered. She looked amazing.
That's what I keep saying. Prom is fkg lame anyway.
Why not just have a dress custom made and deliver what the client paid for? After all, it IS prom.

As a business owner you have to take responsibility, not blame your employees then share all the excuses on national television. Apologize (perception is reality) regardless of your reasons. So make it right, if a customer is not happy and the dress was not worn (or returned prior to prom date) then issue a refund.

My prom dress 40 dollars From Macy and graduation dress 30 dollars from H&M . U never wearing that dress again.
