Castle Combe - Crash and Action - Classic & Retro Race Weekend - July 2021

  • The action from a very good weekend at Castle Combe, which saw the likes of the CTCRC and Equipe championships, alongside the usual Combe races. Certainly one of my favourite weekends at Castle Combe in a very long time, with very mixed conditions creating a rather greasy track and some rather gripping racing.

    I love the way the camera operator zooms right in, so that you can't see the car in relation to the road, or in relation to the other cars.

      I’d just like to have my 100-4 back. Unfortunately I sold it to a dmas who thought he had learned how to drive it in the month he had possession. That was in 1965 and I still haven’t forgiven him. Zody.

    I think ( sometimes ) it is because of the sudden RPM rise when they shift down in manual before hitting the corner causes the rear wheels to lose traction especially in wet road condition which makes it easier to spin.

    Damn ! Thats the most fun I ever had watching races. That corner seems to be a good place to sit, too. The speed is sufficient to provide excitement to the drivers and for the fans to be able to see everything, unlike formula 1, where they go 200 mph, you cant hardly see the cars before theyre gone and they constantly risk their lives. This is as much a race as any and nobody dies or loses limbs . F1 needs to be slowed down. The speeds are ridiculous. It proves nothing .

    These things are hilarious most of them can't spin the tyres on wet pavement . I wish I could have a couple of my cars back in the day to joust with them like my two 67 Pontiac Catalina 290 HP 340 pds Torque or my 68 Executive 330 HP 370 pds Torque I will not mention my 70 Charger R/T 375 HP 490 pds Torque . Yes they are certainly lighter and more nimble in the corners, and using modern tires and optional sway bars and heavy duty suspension on the big Pontiacs would improve them it does not make them 1000 pounds lighter . But Back in the day ran into some Euro fans with MG's BMW 2002's, Porsche 914' and 16's , Triumph TR7 V8's you get the idea but on American roads we clobbered them with our American V8's . And it didn't take a exotic V8 to do this , any Ford 390- Pontiac 400 , Chevy 327 - 396 , Chrysler 383 , AMC 390 - 401 would do fine A high output version just made it worse . In Europe cars in the 425 to 540 HP class were considerd exoctics in America they were produced as albeitly production engines made by both Chrysler and Chevy . This is not to say that Euro models have no value they do , this is to point out the different view between me and my Euro counterparts .

    Is it just me or do the English applaud people's failures. It seemed to me that every slide, spin, Collison, and off track incident got a round of applause from audience and spectators. It's like Hi, we're the English, we're bunch of dicks. You fail we rejoice.

    • @K1lostream
      @K1lostream 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll hear the same thing on clips at the nürburgring (look up auto addiction channel for any number of examples of that). Also this camera was at one corner, so you're hearing the same nearby spectators - bit of a stretch to characterise an entire nation based on that, isn't it?
      I think people in general watch sports for the spectacle (hence 'spectator') - this includes the highs and the lows.
      There were quite a few slides and spins in this clip that showed considerable skill in the save/recovery - perhaps that may have been what the applause/cheers were in appreciation of?
