Question: Wouldn't you want the outside-front of the pickup to be clear of epoxy to pickup higher frequency sounds? Wouldn't the hydrophone be more sensitive that way? Obviously less waterproof.
Does piezo elements foam height has matter? mcmaster staff didn't send any items in my country, so I can't find 1/16 height polyethylene foam anywhere.
Thanks! I can't wait to build mine and try it with Sonic Visualizer running on my laptop (can be Windows, Linux or Mac). Is there a reason you did not solder the microphone leads to the audio extension cable? Is there a reason you connected the right channel (Red) instead of the left channel (White)? Why not connect both?

Just discovered Sonic Visualiser yesterday. It's amazing and thank they support Linux :D
The COSEE-TEK web site for the hydrophone also has a detailed instruction/parts list that provides part numbers and locations to procure all the supplies: www.coseetek.net/files/COSEETEK/MaTTS%20Hydrophone%20directions%20v41.pdf
@@mmabaddass Hi the mcmaster staff don't want to sell me the Items, I plan to find the parts myself, I would like to know it's normal if I will buy ordinary stereo cable with 3.5 mm jack on amazon or I should buy special underwater cable?
So there is also a reverberation effect between the piezo disk and the plastic container.
By “how many times” is the audio signal amplified?
Can you post a demo video of this in water? I'm curious of the output levels

Thanks for sharing . Great idea

Hi - really well done video. Thank you! Can you recommend something other than epoxy that would be safe for kids to use? Thanks.
Have you done any testing with this?, wondering what the sensitivity is how far away will it pick up?
what is the frequency characteristics of this under water?

Awesome
Where did you procure the foam disc used in this project

Thank you so much. Have a great day :-)

CTF rossette, next.
i can barly hear this video even with sound up full it needs to be done again and speak up
For a guy who is building an underwater microphone, he should know how to record his own voice so we can hear what he's saying.
Need a hydrophone amplifier? Try HY-11
