- Grateful Dead "Home Movies" (circa 1987-1988)
Filmed by Justin Kreuztmann (son of drummer Billy), with thanks & gratitude.
Nearly 12 months on the road from late 1987 to Sept 1988.
I simply desired to edit this jewel down to 64 minutes, or simply THE BEST PARTS (the original is 2+ hours and has some too-long segments which I humbly didn't find worth while).
LoloYodel Notes:
Initially on TH-cam in 9 segments (2+ hours overall).
Picked it up from "Joshua Gillund" (thanks) but it was also largely around via other torrents and friends.
Reduced color contrast (+20)
Upped audio volume on some non-concert segments ...
Cut segments which seemed too long, some uninspiring Dylan segments (yes, they exist), inaudible parts etc ...
Re-synched some concert segments.

My all time favorite is Bobby during Estimated 7 7 89. Literally turning into a Jet just before it leaves the ground ❤️ 🤣
For those of you giving the last generation of tour heads crap. Yes we were lucky to see Jerry. At least we were smart enough to listen to the ones, that came before us.
I met Ramrod in 1978 , he put a deadhead sticker on my jacket which I still have !
When me & Jerry hugged it felt like we were one , that’s y I call him my soul mate ,never felt like that with any other man !
I didn't find out until after my Dad passed away in 98' or no, let's just say I didn't realize just how fortunate I was @ the time to have such cool parents who would pass their Love for Grateful Dead onto me. In doing so & exposing me to one of the most talented & loved group of musicians on the planet it enabled me to grow up loving what I really liked & not just clinging onto the norm's of Top 40 Radio. (Boring) My parent's encouraged me & my sister to always chase after our dreams & that it was okay to think outside of the box. That being different doesn't mean you're wrong or right, only different & there's certainly nothing wrong w/ that. They made it okay for me to enjoy thing's that were viewed by some as being taboo, for lack of a better word. Luckily for me I was able to see some show's w/ my Dad back in the early-mid 80's & I will always cherish those times & great memories. I know in my heart that if it were not for them being so open minded, I probably wouldn't have ever hopped on the Bus & woulda never gotten to see firsthand what this Band & it's huge following was truly all about & for that I'm eternally grateful & appreciative. Love hearing that! Exactly as i feel about my experiences. I was born in 1990 but as a toddler i got to see Jerry a handful of times. At this point in life i have The ability to enter that sacred " flow state" with my instrument and i love it deeply.
Now this is a DEAD Concert!!! Just the way I loved them with JERRY 💖
Jerry was 45 here. Miss him a lot. The Dead died with him.

hahahaha bobby in 80s rock star mode. Even now in his elder of the tribe phase I still picture him that way. Running around in his short shorts and doing windmills. LOVE IT and not in some ironic hipster way either. He was like the hype man. Their flavor flav. needed to take some of the edge off ya know
fantastic tours i believe this has 86 tour through it.... so many of the kids that toured with us from richmond are dead an gone now..but my memories wont fade away love to all remaining from GRACE STREET

If there is any overall description of the Dead, given their fortuitous musical expression, it would be their "take-no-prisonera" openhearted Playfulness. This looks like a great project that Justin had the opportunity to film. I bet it's interesting for the participants to reflect on this time; and This time. Greatest respect to the Grateful Dead, for the experience and the ideas..
My last shows were in June of 88 Alpine Valley Wisconsin. Man we're they smoking. Then the wife gave us two children one in August 89 then July of 90 she saw them in Chicago in 95 I think I bought her two tickets so her and her girl friend could see them. Then Jerry passed. It just didn't seem the same after that. Peace and love. Covid go away.
I'm so glad I got to see the Dead before Jerry died.

Whether they saw Jerry or not.The Grateful Dead changed my life and I didn't get to see Jerry but my family and older brothers did . I discovered the Grateful Dead later in life and the music touched my soul ! I'm happy that you saw Jerry, but chill out the music is for everyone and you should be happy someone else is carrying the torch while you sit at home and bitch and moan about these " posers" ?? Everyone has to start somewhere even if their different then you are.
Couple of memories from this era. Broke down on Peachtree in rush hour. Hampton passed out in a concrete planter Mom gets a “crazy fingers” autograph from Jerry at the Holiday Inn. Shows were the best times of my life
I occasionally watch this now & then & it never fails to make me feel better. The memories & good vibes it brings back along with getting a peek behind the curtain so to speak always brings a smile. I miss those that have left us & miss those who are still with us. Thanks Justin for the memories
July 1988 in Oxford Maine I saw the Grateful Dead and Little Feat and it was the beginnining of a Long Strange Trip across the good old US of A. My first show was in Washington D.C. July 1986 and that was an experience.

NOW THAT'S THE MICKEY I REMEMBER! Wow man watching Jerry practice Crazy Fingers...Bob Running around the stage, Mickey, Billy, Phil and of course BRENT! I know Mickey is older now but so is Billy and Mickey just doesn't play like he used too. Hey maybe it's just a combination of old age and hurting muscles but I watch Billy play and he still plays like it was 1987! There are some who say Billy is doing coke...I think that's bullshit. If he is well that would be his moral choice. As far as any members still doing LSD? I am not sure and I don't care. Today the new band "Dead & Company" Is off my list of favorites due to the choice of John mayer on lead guitar. I'm sorry but when they did the 50th, I was in awe at Trey's playing...He is plugged in being with Phish I guess but if he would have stayed then I would be going to the shows however at 600.00 dollars a ticket? NO THANK YOU!
