I'm impressed how Cere could hold her own against Vader for that long. Most masters would have got destroyed by Vader in a few seconds. Even though Vader is already past his prime he is still a menace for most jedi in the galaxy.
Not all Master's are master's of combat. Jocasta Nu was a Jedi Master and definitely weaker than most Jedi Knights. She Knew how to use the basics of Niman and had force-assisted strength/agility/speed, but it wasn't her specialty. Obi-Wan Kenobi was on par with some masters in terms of combat ability at the time of Phantom Menace because of how he was trained. Before the Clone Wars, the Jedi didn't emphasize combat training except for a few notable exceptions we see in the film/novels. Most were healers, teachers, diplomats, etc. The clone wars forced them to abandon their connection to the living world (and the living force) and take on a military role. By partaking in the clone wars, they became agents of the dark side without them knowing and so their abilities were collectively weakened.
@@Capybara2240 not really. Vader played around too much. Also the gameplay itself isn’t reflective, the actual damage outside of gameplay was from a giant flaming bookshelf being dropped on him.

I think this fight made me realize how Vader relies heavily on fear to kill his targets. True, the dude is the embodiment of the Force, but he is also a broken man with flaws. A powerful force user (Jedi Master), with inner peace, can definitely make a difference. Even if it's little. It was also very heartwarming how Cere's last thoughts were to her padawan...

This looks great. I'm hopefully going to get this soon. People have to remember Vader ain't happy this year in The timeline. This is 10 years before a new hope. The events of the Solo movie, Rebels, Obi Wans show, and Survivor happen that year in the timeline. It's been a busy year for Vader. Don't piss him off more than he already is.
But hey, I otherwise agree. He just got over his rematch with Obi, or it’s gonna happen shortly. The man’s mad deep in the dark side and has to be insanely irritable. I feel you.
@@isacctavares1368 Homie, the events of Rebels begin in 5 BBY. They happen *over* a five year time span, yeah, but they don’t *begin* for another five years after this game. This game happens in 10 BBY. 10 - 5 = 5. 5 BBY. Dawg.
He was literally limping away at the end lmaoo This wasn't a joke to him either Also idk why most of the time they engage in a climactic final jab that always goes to the one with more plot armor(Vader, Malgus and more). If she yeeted her lightsaber at him, that would've ended it. But then again he needed to be alive for the Originals so plot will be on his side till then
What I like about this fight is how it doesn't weaken Vader and makes his nigh-defeat believable. Here's what I think of all of it. It's made clear several times that Vader is much stronger and more skilled than Cere, more than once he parries or avoids her strikes pretty casually while she's clearly exherting a lot of strength. She's strong enough to stand her grounds against him, which is more than many Jedi could do, including Masters, and he himself acknowledges her skills. But at the same time, the cutscenes show he's still the superior fighter, he's not totally casual but he's not serious either, he puts some minimal efforts (which again is more than many Jedi could make him do at this point) but that's it. He knows he can end her very easily so he plays with his food. And this is what allows Cere to get an advantage. She manages to take Vader by surprise with desperate means and a sudden move that he could have easily avoided or countered but because he underestimates her, he doesn't. The wounds he sustains weaken him and even after that, he doesn't seem to exhert his full strength judging by the cutscene, enabling Cere to wound him and put him in a genuinely dangerous position. And then she makes the same mistake, in a different manner. She makes a risky move to finish Vader, believing what she did to him is enough to leave him unable to react properly or retaliate. She goes for the kill but in a way that is clearly reckless, because she sees him against the wall and wounded. By jumping like she did, she left herself opened for Vader to react, counter her strike and give her a fatal blow she could have avoided had she not been so reckless. Like Vader at the start of their fight, she underestimated him, thought he was now an easy prey and ultimately got killed for it. She still managed to far much better than many others and succeeded in wounding him. She was certainly not strong enough to compare to him, nor skilled enough, but she was still a worthy opponent for Vader.
Reminds me of the Rhulk raid in Destiny 2. By all accounts, lorewise, Rhulk was supposed to be fucking unstoppable, second only to the Witness itself. How do you make a character like that a beatable boss without cheapening their power scaling? Simple. Make that character aware of how powerful they are and let them be overconfident. It's a smart way of making their overpoweredness play into justifying being able to beat them, rather than conflict it.
Finally someone with a brain ! Clearly the most challenging thing in this fight for Vader was these multi tons of debris falling on him. That's surely what made him limp a little at the end
Vader had to put in a good amount of effort too, usually he just toys with his prey… Not here though, he didn’t go all out but he had to put in at least a substantial amount of effort to subdue Cere. You can see it when he switches to his two handed style, that means he’s actually trying and not just messing around, same thing that happens against Luke.
People seem to forget that Cere is an experienced and powerful Jedi master. Vader wasn't nerfed, he's always had flaws and he clearly underestimated Cere here.
In Ep.3 Palpatine kills 3 Jedi Masters from the council with one hit in each other. This type of thing doens't make sense in SW. In one fight, Anakin/Vader kills Count Dooku, in other almost dies to an almost unknown Jedi.
@@victormentz3061 Palpatine also beat Yoda and lost to Windu. These fights are very dependant on the context. Vader always struggles against people who have no inner conflict and are calm. He can't use their fear and anger
@victormentz3061 Using Palpatine is a bad example. He is most likely the strongest sith we will ever see and he would have absolutely destroyed Vader in any capacity. He was fucking insane and only someone as equally as insane like Windu could have ever bested him. Windu would also destroy Vader
Cere spent literally the entire time gap between the two games just meditating and honing her skills, sure she’s not on the same level as Kenobi, Windu or Yoda, but she’s not your typical fodder Jedi either.
I think this fight does a pretty good job of showing why Vader is such a dangerous adversary. He's not only built like a tank with his suit, but he is also very cunning and tenacious. When Cere thought she had the upper hand with Vader pinned helplessly against the wall, she leapt at him to finish him off. She was walking into a trap; all Vader had to do was grab her arm and shift to the side, and with that Cere impaled herself on his lightsaber. She snatched defeat from what she thought were the jaws of victory, and her growing power became her undoing...
Other then Yoda and Windu, Kenobi was the only surviving Jedi in the galaxy at the time post clone wars era that can beaten Vader at his prime since he knows his weakness very well. And the only other Jedi that can beat Vader was Luke, I doubt Ahsoka can but she would put up a good fight for sure.
I mean he had to win. I think with these fights they give you the experience of fighting the boss, but after you "defeat" them the cutscene plays out differently, Idk how to properly explain what I'm thinking
This was brilliant honestly. Everyone was hoping for a legit Darth Vader boss battle but there's no way Cal could match him. Giving it to a former Jedi Master was the way to go.

From all the terribly made and loose fan services in most of Star Wars franchise after de main saga, this was one that has gone hard, like way harder. It’s amazing. It makes total sense Vader shows up in this, it’s literally a base with four Force sensitives (excluding Bode), guarding the most precious arquives ever about the Jedi. And his cameo does NOT dissapoint: his presence will forever be unmatched, he’s one of the best villains ever created, and between all the mistakes Disney made with the franchise along the years, Vader is the only one who remains as peak as ever. His boss fight is epic, with such large tension and stakes, his moves are contained on his “first phase”, but when he sees Cere’s habilities have truly improved, he begins taking the duel more seriously, and then we see his agressive and extremely dangerous combat. It was a fight so well written: we all knew the only outcome, but the tension was still there, and we still can have a bit of a surprise when we see Cere getting impaled. More than a surprise, it’s devastating, seeing such a loveable character die like that… it’s simply brutal, and even more brutal when we see Cal’s reaction, all due to Cameron’s amazing acting skills and the team behind the mocap.

Just like he jammed the door in Rogue One 😮
2:15 Best part of Vader’s Theme
This 😎
Vader had a hard lesson about recklessly move lmao.
This guy gets it
Reminds me of the Rhulk raid in Destiny 2.
I’ll miss Cere But I cannot hate Vader

This is amazing. Cere really went all out.
Vader had to put in a good amount of effort too, usually he just toys with his prey… Not here though, he didn’t go all out but he had to put in at least a substantial amount of effort to subdue Cere.
Bro the game hasn’t even been out for a day and I see this
I think this fight does a pretty good job of showing why Vader is such a dangerous adversary.
5:30 that clash was cold
I’m glad Vader won the fight. Sorry if someone hates this comment, it’s just after Kenobi Vader seems to be a bit downgraded.
