I purchased a Mossberg Maverick 88 20 gauge Youth model for $199 @ Walmart recently. I am not a big fan of pistol grips, & the bolt release location on a Mossberg pump shotgun makes a pistol grip even less appealing. I wanted a stock that's adjustable for all size shooters. The youth model comes with a 12" rear stock & 22" barrel. I like the solid feel of the Magpul stock versus the rattle of most adjustable pistol grip stocks. 14" LOP (3 spacers) with the Magpul rear stock fits me perfectly, but I like having the option of dropping that down to 12.5" for any youth or woman using the gun in the future. I put an elastic shotgun shell holder around the stock which gives it a nice finished look (even after some extra spacers are added). The Magpul for Mossberg shotguns fit the Maverick 88 Youth model quite well. It's a slight proud fit, but it still looks very nice. If I have a youth use it as a turkey gun some day, I will mostly likely add an Indian Creek choke to the 22" barrel. It's such a nice light & maneuverable little shotgun. As Elmer Fudd would say it may become my favorite little wabbit hunting gun in the meantime! Some may question adding a $100 stock to a $200 shotgun, but for $300 total I really like this set up for all size of shooters. Plus, the rear stock just feels right for the gun.
The Maverick 88 is a great shotgun. Too bad Mossberg will not support it. I have been waiting three years for a 18.5 inch barrel. Mossberg just says "out of stock". Three years.

I totally agree with you.

You know all parts of a Mossberg 500 fit on a Maverick 88 right? So just get a barrel for a 500 and use it on the Maverick.
