Growing up in the U.K. California was always a world away for me, but it was always a place I needed to go one day. I did, but I only scratched the surface. Your images of the streets around LA and California coast have a great vibe and give me a better incite of the real California. I grew up in the film era becoming a pro photographer shooting film. I absolutely hated digital taking over, but loved the freedom it brought. I never sold my film cameras because I knew one day a new generation would embrace film and so here we are. The Renaissance of Film Photography. Thank you for being part of of that Renaissance.
@brandovlogs I did just that when I was there. Monterey was my favourite place of all. We did 17 mile drive and stopped for my first ever walk on a Pacific coast beach. The sand was so white and shone like diamonds in the sun. A low strip of cloud hung on the horizon which you’d never see on the Atlantic coast. We went to Carmel also. Stunning!! San Luis Obispo, ( SLO), was amazing too as we arrived for an overnight stay during the Farmer’s market one Thursday evening. California had a lot to live up to for me waiting so long to go there, but it was far better than I could ever imagine. I love the light there too.
Willam, a camera in your hands is magic! The Pacific Coast Highway is probably the best drive ever in my book. Discovered you today on TH-cam and I am loving your work/passion.
So so beautiful, such a relaxing video... Thank you, Willem! Really loved the photos as well and I hope you don't hesitate to share what you really want to share with us :)
Changes in your photography style are a natural evolution of your change in environment. Embrace those changes, as that’s what life is all about. Thanks for all the inspiring videos!
I've ever visited Morro Bay with beautiful sunsets too, the big Morro Rock is really impressive. thanks for your photos, taking me back to that moment.
Really enjoyed this! I loved the short clips that set the mood, sort of like a living photograph. And I'm really liking the "monochromatic" photos. Glad you decided to put it all into a video.
Appreciate the thinking out loud about how your style has changed moving to California. It’s a nice interpretation of your work. The vertical picture of the green gras field by the ocean is super nice in my opinion. And compared to the other green ones they all look special. Thanks for putting your work abs yourself out there. I can imagine that’s not easy all the time.
I love how much you're enjoying living near the California coast! Late afternoon here near the ocean the fog, haze, and mist from the surf, combined with the sun setting and shining through all of that, give a light like I've never seen anywhere else. These photos are beautiful. Please know I appreciate seeing what you're motivated by photographing, not only review videos of this or that latest film or camera.
it must be really nice to see the world with your eyes. not many people that i know of can catch intro details well- we’re all just wrapped up into ourselves instead
Thanks to your videos everyday i try to get out in my neighborhood and take pictures that i can look back on and see progress and what life was like at that time in my life!
Next time you are in the area I recommend checking out the neighborhoods near downtown San Luis Obispo. There are so many cute old houses. You could walk around looking at them for hours. Hearst beach in Cambria is also gorgeous, if you hike up the path through the eucalyptus trees to the cliff overlooking a cute cove.
Live in the UK but randomly stayed for 6 weeks in Los Osos down the road from Morro Bay in my late teens. Borrowed push bikes to get around so went up to Morro Bay and man it was lovely. Also a stand out moment was riding the bikes over to San Louis Obispo. Travelling through the sparse countryside between the two with vultures circling overhead! An odd experience for a not well travelled english kid! Wish I was into photography back then, but it was about 25 years ago now.
your videos are sooo calming and relaxing!! I absolutely loved seeing the comparison of your old and new work as it’s very fascinating to see your style change. I can’t wait until my copy of your book arrives in the Netherlands and I will finally be able to look at physical version of your work 🤍
Willem, I very much enjoy your walking and road trip videos. Please consider doing such a video EVERY SINGLE DAY so I can stop googling for "photographers like Willem Verbeeck" in the gaps. Seriously though, your work is great and it's a treat to watch these. Thanks to everyone who helped as well.
Hey that’s Asilomar in Pacific Grove, and south down 1 towards Carmel Higjlands. If you’re ever back that way, do check out Point Lobos. Recently moved away from there and into Santa Barbara, I loved shooting in PG, but I love living in SB so much more. Thanks for bumping my little spot Willem!
I swear I saw you walking around the neighborhood in Morro Bay maybe a little more recently then when this video was posted. Can't say it was you but it reminded me of you for some reason and just randomly thought about it and looked it up and found this video. Great shots, miss that little town ever since my GF dumped me and I had to leave it.
Love your work whether it’s the videos here on TH-cam or your photos. My favourite thing about your images has always been the way you play with the light. Can’t wait for the next video!
This is probably the best videos you ever made, I'm watching your videos from few years and this one is another step up. Everything is beautiful, you explain perfectly what you want to do, the video quality itself is awesome, the music matches as hell with the mood of the trip. Congratulations from France 👏🇫🇷
these pictures are absolutely stunning. they brought tears to my eyes almost because of how beautiful they are. I love your channel and you are a huge inspiration
Love the monochrome look as wel. I guess the way you’re able to frame your photos and impose your own eye on them is the main thing that attracts me to your work. The black and white photos you took a couple of videos back are just as amazing to me as more colorful or monochrome work!
Best TH-cam recommend action I've ever had. Great work mate! I usually go from sf to fort Bragg visiting all the seaside towns on hwy 1 in my race car. Thanks for keeping 'in the know' of the south.
Big Sur/Monterey Bay has to be one of my favorite places to photograph and drive through. I drove from Santa Cruz all the way to LA along the coast 3 times now and every time I find something new. These are awesome shots, the weather is hit/miss in that area and you surely got a gem that sunny day.
Great trip and video. I'm always in Pacific Grove and it's nice to see images from your perspective. I love my Mamiya 7 as well with a couple Porta 400 Pro Packs I'm set for a weekend. Thanks again for sharing this!
Just before you mentioned it I was thinking your work looked different. It must be the nature in LA. Your work is looking similar to the work I sHoot here in Australia and you made me realise it must be the nature influence
These photos displayed as a collection based on their dominant colours look amazing and are so refreshing compared to majority of film photos. Loved this video!
Nice video. Keep driving north sometime--the Oregon coast has a similar feel but it's interesting how the dense forest moves right up to the shoreline.
Really beautiful video! Glad you took those iPhone clips! It's cool to see your work change with your environment. Now I'm inspired to go finish my roll of Portra 160 in my Yashica Mat-124 for a video!
Willem, another lovely vid. But can I make a suggestion (as an ancient Motion Graphics designer of over 20 years experience!)... You should show your lovely photos on a much darker, even a dark grey background. Screens are not paper! White paper is neutral, a white screen is not! It puts out a lot of light and makes it impossible to see the nuances of the beautiful photos.
I clicked on this video cause I saw a thumbnail from a place close to home. Then I see you walking around my neighborhood in pg taking photographs haha.
I have a 50mm lens for my Pentax K1000 currently but would like to know what lens I should get next. I really love landscape photography so maybe one that excels with that.
The road trip videos won’t ever get old, I just love the feeling you get while watching these. Just wow man

I constantly walk in that Asilomar neighborhood and you made it look so dreamy! Such a fun video!
Willam, a camera in your hands is magic! The Pacific Coast Highway is probably the best drive ever in my book. Discovered you today on TH-cam and I am loving your work/passion.
The photos of Big Sur with the bridge in the background made me say “wow” out loud. Absolutely beautiful work
So so beautiful, such a relaxing video... Thank you, Willem! Really loved the photos as well and I hope you don't hesitate to share what you really want to share with us :)
Dude kicking the ball at 5:55....love that!
love those photos !!!! I love how your style is evolving !
Changes in your photography style are a natural evolution of your change in environment. Embrace those changes, as that’s what life is all about. Thanks for all the inspiring videos!
It’s so cool that he moved to California, it’s cool to see places that I recognize. Plus awesome Volvo 245.
I'm impressed willem managed to get that furry hamster to stay on his finger throughout all the voiceovers in the studio
Honestly what an incredible set of images, particularly the ones that are more green and hills-y near the beach
I love your comment about the smoke stacks being context clues, using this unique feature to ground the rest of your photo
I absolutely love your California photos. They’re such a cool style, and I think that you have been able to embrace the whole vibe of California.
Appreciate the thinking out loud about how your style has changed moving to California. It’s a nice interpretation of your work. this is some my favorite work of yours yet
Every single one still is mind-blowing. Thank you Willem!
Great video, very moody laid-back photos. That is a stretch of road that offers so much. You really do it justice.
I love how much you're enjoying living near the California coast! The iPhone footage was all you needed! Love this one a lot man. Super great video. thanks for taking us on these journeys with you.
Willem, these photos are breathtaking!! Looking forward to the day you release a new book full of these photos of SoCal 🌅
I love when you make these kinda videos! It's always so lovely to see the places I've been visiting all my life being framed in such a beautiful way
This video is so incredibly relaxing. The soft music with the soft photos and video. Always love these videos.
Those pictures are absolutely amazing! I was kinda surprised by the look and feel but I have to say I absolutely love this new approach!
Bro the shots in Big Sur are absolutely INCREDIBLE!
it must be really nice to see the world with your eyes. not many people that i know of can catch intro details well- we’re all just wrapped up into ourselves instead
Love that clip of the blue house with the Mercedes wagon bending the corner ❤️
Thanks to your videos everyday i try to get out in my neighborhood and take pictures that i can look back on and see progress and what life was like at that time in my life!

so many great photos in a single video! I loved the blue hour one down on the rocks

4:23 I just had an Eyegasm...just loving the colors
Beautiful video as always, Willem. I really love the new style of images from the video. The images at 3:35 and 8:08 are especially beautiful to me.
Love the vibes of your videos Willem, they're great
I lived in Monterey for a year and loved every moment of it. I hope to make it back that way soon
really amazing photo taken at big sur. made me feel nostalgic of that place even if I have never been to america
your videos are sooo calming and relaxing!! I absolutely loved seeing the comparison of your old and new work as it’s very fascinating to see your style change. I can’t wait until my copy of your book arrives in the Netherlands and I will finally be able to look at physical version of your work 🤍

Growing up here a photographer in monterey county it’s so great to see you visit Big Sur u need to come back!

such a nice mood, such good pictures - I enjoyed this one to the bones
8:25-8:35 segment with the music is just beautiful. Good job
2:44 that shot had me levitating
Those grouped photos sharing a similar colour palette are beautiful :)
These photos are incredible. I love the blue one by the ocean, it looks straight out of a film.
I swear I saw you walking around the neighborhood in Morro Bay maybe a little more recently then when this video was posted. Can't say it was you but it reminded me of you for some reason and just randomly thought about it and looked it up and found this video. I spend most of my weekends with my fiancé in Big Sur and Carmel, such a beautiful location to shoot🤙🏽
Arguably some of my favorite photos you’ve made!! Love your stuff man!
Love your work whether it’s the videos here on TH-cam or your photos. My favourite thing about your images has always been the way you play with the light. Can’t wait for the next video!

For my money, this is some of your very best work, Willem! Thanks for sharing here, and keep it up.
Come explore Seattle! You’d love it’s uniqueness.
these pictures are absolutely stunning. they brought tears to my eyes almost because of how beautiful they are. I love your channel and you are a huge inspiration

It’s a good day when Willem posts
Was planning on making this exact trip in 2 weeks , carmel is a gem
Best TH-cam recommend action I've ever had. Great work mate! I usually go from sf to fort Bragg visiting all the seaside towns on hwy 1 in my race car. Thanks for keeping 'in the know' of the south.
Really liked the colour pairing of the photos

Bravo! Excellent, artistic shots of our beautiful coastline!
Each photography blew my mind, you re incredible
Great trip and video. I'm always in Pacific Grove and it's nice to see images from your perspective. I love my Mamiya 7 as well with a couple Porta 400 Pro Packs I'm set for a weekend. Thanks again for sharing this!
Such a beautifull video, thankyou, hope you share more of these images with a new style in the future, loved them so much, keep enjoying
Thank you for sharing. the scenery is incredible!
Just before you mentioned it I was thinking your work looked different. It must be the nature in LA. Your work is looking similar to the work I sHoot here in Australia and you made me realise it must be the nature influence
The first scene look like the tree separate the sky into morning and dawn. Love it ❤️
This videos beauty alone was truly astounding, I feel as if I could just climb through my tv and really be there myself.
These photos displayed as a collection based on their dominant colours look amazing and are so refreshing compared to majority of film photos. Loved this video!
I love the switch! Development is key dawg!
I got married (without a permit, shh) right in front of Morro Rock. That town is one of my favorites. Happy to see it get some proper love
Very impressive ! Great job, colors are perfect and it's make a cool serie
Great video! Not too sure what it is but your videos always inspire me and help get me through my day!!
yesssss just what I need! about to spend 2 weeks exploring California with a couple dozen rolls of film!
Very beautiful video Willem, my favorite picture you made in this video, was the rocks and water, great blue tone and somber feeling at 3:34
I got introduced to photography in that town. Pacific Grove
Nice video. Keep driving north sometime--the Oregon coast has a similar feel but it's interesting how the dense forest moves right up to the shoreline.
Just watched this in the morning before work, all of this made me feel so… calm. Thank Willem, great job as always
letting the content follow your work is a solid choice on this one. v refreshing.
Love the new style work, has a lot of feeling within it 👏🏻
It's a nice change amazing monochromatic style
Incredible stuff yet again, Willem!
The king returns
I love this video, all the pictures you took were truly amazing
Really beautiful video! Glad you took those iPhone clips! It's cool to see your work change with your environment. Now I'm inspired to go finish my roll of Portra 160 in my Yashica Mat-124 for a video!

Pacific Grove is a very photogenic, sleepy town. Next time drive ten minutes out to Carmel-by-the-sea. Think you’ll enjoy it
You literally were in areas that are within a 20-30 minute drive of my house damn. I have shot tons of film in Morro Bay.
It’s a great day when your favorite TH-camr uploads a video.
Always enjoy your vids and photos🙏
I clicked on this video cause I saw a thumbnail from a place close to home. Then I see you walking around my neighborhood in pg taking photographs haha.
I have a 50mm lens for my Pentax K1000 currently but would like to know what lens I should get next. I really love landscape photography so maybe one that excels with that.
Awesome video and I love the new style thanks for sharing with us
Man,,, what a trip!! These photographs are very inspiring 🖤
