The advice you gave out for free is worth millions. I don't need to thousand and I am gaining a lot more from these videos. 2021 has been a career-defining year for me because of you. If you are reading this Justine, THANK YOU
I am working on an a startup idea I have had for about 10 years, and I just haven't had the resources to make it happen as there is not much tech industry support in the country I live in. I have taught myself as I go along, from photoshop, figma to javascript and kotlin and recently been looking at some no-code solutions. My laptop has however recently crashed, so that has set me back massively over the past couple of months... I would use the $1000 to get a new laptop. Hoping to have my MVP ready by December
Hey, JK! Thanks for the amazing quality content and nice video set-up. I'm a college student (pre final year), have completed an internship to get money for starting up an Edtech website. Currently building the site, your help will bring something that didn't exist yesterday in to life and create value. Will be great if you could make a video on dealing with uncertainties in starting up. Thank you for starting this channel to start sharing your wisdom. It's helpful!
This is exactly the video I needed a couple of years back when starting up my venture, I'll be sure to use these in the next ones! Keep the awesome content coming! 💙
Just to leave a comment to say that most of the tips are super helpful for someone who is going through this painful journey as a business owner. Find sth to run towards instead of running away from was so true
Duuuude I actually heard this on the podcast, it's gold, totally helpful, and people should listen close, I'm glad this sort of content it's out there among some other that it's just theories and speculation which it's not bad but almost nothing useful to apply to the real life, I'm literally taken by the wave of taking my startup to the heart and it's true, it affects you as person Keep on the same line guys!
Hey Justin! Huge fan from California. Launching my first e-commerce website next weekend. Beyond essentials, I've put most of my money into this website. The $1,000 would be huge. Please keep on bringing the content!
Founding an early seed startup from the Philippines on digital medical education. Have been following you on how to grow my startup. I also sound weird when speaking.
The topic from mins 8-9 area is critical. Declare values and principles up front, and make decisions in alignment with those. The more you can define what you doing and what are looking for, the easier it is to know when it’s in front of you.
Hi , I am 15 years old and I am studying in 10th standard. I just wanna buy a monitor for my PC and buy some books to learn programming . I loved the video . Even I wanna start a startup like you in my early years and this video has helped me to think that its not just thinking about all the ideas of the startup but to talk to the people weather they would like my idea and will it solve any problem and make technology easy for the people.
Great video. Even though both of these founders had failed companies, they are highly intelligent and true winners. The honesty was extremely refreshing in the startup world when no one has the guts to speak the truth.
I've been working on my new startup since July 2020 and the products are finally about to launch. I was able to get a talented designer and a research director on board, so there are three of us now. I would use the $1000 towards production and marketing and I promise every penny will be used on creating a great company. I've been full-time on this since April, so I have to do everything that takes to keep this company afloat and expand. I know you're busy, but if you are interested, I will be happy to have you on board as an advisor or test our product (it's a food product) Regardless of the reward, I really appreciate the high quality and informative insight that you share with us. Stay safe and happy, Justin!
After interning at a startup that utterly failed (like 98% of tech-startups) I would use the $1000 to get my own business going, having learned from the mistakes my previous boss made and of course your priceless advice!
Hey, I would use the money for running my first Kickstarter, specifically for hiring an artist for creating the artwork for a board game. The board game will be based on the 1955 Careers board game
I personally, need it to fund my startup / Business (a college side-hustle) that I've been sitting on for the most part of the year. So, this cash would really help a lot...
Love this video. I also see the issue with a services company, you have to work to make money, very hard to take a break. Product company is the way to go
I'm building a startup on my own with mostly sweat capital coding the app myself. $700 would go towards Incorporating in Delaware as a c corp, the $300 will go towards getting a trademark.
solid video. crazy to think that i just casually gained 10 figures of value sitting on my couch on a laptop. The internet for the win. Thanks for sharing guys.
I am a self-taught engineer. Like a lot of other people with non-traditional backgrounds -- it was really hard for me to show that I can do the work to recruiters. So, I started a job board where you apply to work trial. I could go far with 1000$ atm.
As a founder just entering my fourth year, this video provided serious value. I’ve never heard of James but I appreciate his insights. Buying some magic mind for the office!
Hey Justin, I'm Joseph from Nigeria. Came across your story through Joma's interview, it was fun and inspiring. If I'm given the $1000, I'll procure a better laptop, probably a Dell Vostro, set up a mini workspace, and purchase internet for the rest of the year. This will enable me to further my skills as a designer, and remove the limitations I face in building my freelance business.
great video I dont know if u or ur editor will read this but if u feel comfortable can you make a video explaining first how much u made after selling twitch and what did u invest it back into like a really thorough video explaining ur finances maybe u bought rentals or I dunno whatever u feel comfortable with sharing :D (I know u have kind of done this video but I want more detailed version of what u spend in a week or something like that if u watch graham stephens vides u ll know what I am talking about)oh and btw probably wont win but I could really use 1000 dollars or maybe even half that to buy a laptop for myself as I am starting uni this year and I am a CS major either way thanks for the video its quite interesting to see how actual rich investors reflect on their mistakes
As someone who started services company and had it become successful. As long as you offer a product that's significantly different from the competition you'll be fine on margin. I was charging 6k for exterior coating on a 2k sq ft house. My competitors were charging half but my product was a 30 year coat with a lifetime warranty. There's was a 5-7 year product without a warranty. I had a clear advantage and I used that to generate on average 120k a month with only 2 people outside of myself.
I live in a village in Manipur, India. My neighbour recently put a Network Tower, which helps me to discover a new world of Tech and programming stuffs online. Im fascinated by Tech founders who can help convert their generations of poverty to getting rich by teaching themselves CODING. I also just started learning Python. I want to build a tech startup in India too
Hi Justin, love your content. Great advice in this video. I am learning Unity to make my own games, and I would use the $1,000 for a Unity boot camp and learning materials. Will tune in for your next video!
As a teen, the $1000 dollars would be used to kickstart a lawn mowing side hustle I plan on doing. Would come in handy! Thanks for the advice! Good luck to all
am kenyan access to capital is not that good, am a university student and we are building a fintech startup but it has been hard because we are unable to access finance, if I was to get the 1000 would really help us to start us of and gain traction so that we are fundable
Hello Justin, I had a business that cracked when covid arrived, sold everything and used the money to survive for a few months while learning programming, now I dont have money and this 1000USD would buy me enough time to keep learning for about 4-6 months (I live in México and got back at parents home yet I pay them rent) so If I get chosen it would be like teaching someone how to fish and not buying the fish which would run out eventually 🤘
Hi Justin, binging on your videos. Just saw this I know it's old, if the 1k still stands😄haha, I'd use it to pay for a server, or convert it to a 1k equivalent of paid vps server subscription instead of money. I have a personal project in mind, and just don't have money to pay for a server.
Hi Justin, Love your content Man! Appreciate how much value you're providing through your channel. I'm a graphic designer & front end developer. I was working on creating a productize service for my business. But Covid makes it harder to spend time & money into the business effort. (I live in a third-world country). It will be great if you can help I can spend the necessary time & money into the creating business. Anyway, really admire your effort to help people :)
This was so fun Justin. Let’s do it again soon!
i swear I thought you meant let’s burn 140,000,000 dollars again
The advice you gave out for free is worth millions. I don't need to thousand and I am gaining a lot more from these videos. 2021 has been a career-defining year for me because of you. If you are reading this Justine, THANK YOU
this is 100% gold ... I built a $100M company and everything they are discussing here rings true
This really was pure gold - I'm constantly coming back to this
So glad to see this right on the very early stages of setting my company. Thanks Justin and James! Really enjoyed it, chill and honest.
Building a business doesn’t have to always be frantic! It’s always going to be hard work but the sky isn’t always falling if you’re consistent!
great advice as always, the money will help me starting my music career since im not from usa

Just want to stop by and say this is a very valuable video! Thank you, and look forward to more in the future.
Lost my corporate director job of nearly 20 years in January. The 1000 would go toward my next venture. Thanks for all you do on the channel!

Awesome segment! Justin, James, thanks for your honest insights. I felt you guys were talking directly to me.
My mother is at critical condition right now due to covid and the thousand dollars could help us a lot with the hospital bills
My prayers with you.
Did she die yet
@@mathematicalninja2756 God bless you
@@tanmaysingh267 No, thankfully. She is still at recovery now and on strict monitoring

Love this format - great vid
Thank you Justin this video was very helpful.
Great episode. I feel crushed in my startup in the way that you’ve described. Thank you for sharing👍
Great video. I'd love the money as I am starting a company and have made many of these mistakes already. Thank you for the insight.
This video was incredibly valuable for me. Thank you
Thank you for sharing. It's always better to learn from other people's mistakes, so we don't repeat them.
This video is so incredible useful! I started my first tech business a while ago with my co-founder and learned a lot from this. Thanks Justin
Justin is the only guy on youtube that can put 9 figures in titles and still not be clickbait
Yaaah
Great video. Didn’t enjoy the sales pitch in the end but the rest was really helpful!

So much Up-To-Date wisdom over here.

How do you ask what clients wants if you're trying to build a tier 1 automotive supplier company?
I'll take the advice over the 1000$. Priceless! (or whatever amount and time this advice will save me from avoiding these mistakes). Thanks guys.
