      Yeah I didn't get that either. Especially on the Joyn one, at that point its just 2 people we know nothing about, why are they a great team? Then after he mentions it would be an insta fund if the cofounder was an engineer.

    Yea as an engineer I joined my founder on his journey and while he is doing non technical stuff he built a website and got a waitlist so was very happy to join him. You have to have the initiative and resourcefulness to be able to go into the unknowns and it's great that I could easily validate his comfort there before joining him.

    • @GarryTan
      @GarryTan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Oh yes, makes sense. I think it underscores how hard it is for someone without context to understand something from just a deck. But you have to make the deck work that way.

    • @evancurry1279
      @evancurry1279 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Seems like the liv pitch deck skips over the context of the problem.
      Ex. Allows Creators to put themselves into the game giving viewers a whole new perspective to watch.
      This pitch deck would work better in a room full of VR investors or VR creators

    • @Rizhiy13
      @Rizhiy13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The question is: how much do you want to explain your idea to potential investors if they are not knowledgeable in the area.
      * Would people invest in something they are not interested/knowledgeable in?
      * Would a company even want such investors ?

    • @zackpi7874
      @zackpi7874 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Rizhiy13 To be fair, a single slide could have cleared up this confusion, and without sounding 'preachy' to knowledgeable people. I've even seen several livestreams by people using LIV's technology, and I still didn't realize what they were until a few slides in.

    • @parker5548
      @parker5548 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Rizhiy13 yes, often times part of your job is to explain your market/company to investors who aren't complete insiders. After all, there are only so many industry-specific investors (unless you're in fintech lol), so especially startups like theirs that are raising presumably larger amounts of money, a lot of that is going to come from industry agnostic investors

    Justin, love these reviews. They are really useful and done really constructively as well. I am currently working on a pitch but its for a holding company with multiple business divisions, which will be launched on a staged process based on revenue. Our primary audiences are sport, property and on-line gaming so its focusing on very well established, highly profitable sectors. But with a lot to explain, especially around revenue generation as there are multiple points and global audiences, it is proving tricky to get the pitch deck down to less than 20 slides. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Nick

    Even though some will say design is not the most important for an MVP, Garry’s rant @20:25 is pretty valid in the sense that you should at least TRY to follow design standards/guidelines for the device your application will run on. Reading design standards/guidelines barely take up anytime and if you’re fairly good at styling it won’t take that long to implement as well. If you still have some trouble, I would pile up the cash to get a professional freelancer to create the wireframes for you (definitely worth it) for you to implement. Curious to know if people agree or disagree :)

    Not sure if you guys are still answering questions on this... but one question on the DAU. You mentioned is not growing fast enough in one of the deck. There are multiple reasons for that... should they call it if a company is not growing fast enough organically, or should they put more effort into a growth strategy?

    Seeing Garry go critical on the UI for Hitchhiqe for not following iOS's design system made me wonder if he's partial to making an app iOS-first despite Android having most of the market share of the world. We saw how unsustainable going iOS-first was with Clubhouse. I'd like to know since I thought market share matters more so I picked up Android, but I do know how to code a bit for iOS in Swift. I'd also like to stay native instead of using Flutter or React Native
