The Heater could warm up your Work Shop or use it in the Green House that's what I plan to do with my old wood stoves.
What a wonderful little corner that is, Suzie! It's so cool watching those old cobbles being uncovered! I LOVED the shot of the front door with that bright greenery, so cozy!

Good morning Rols & Suzie, I think you are correct Rols, that gate needs a second coat of paint, then that will be sorted for quite a long time! Oh Suzie it does takes a lot of patience and time to clean out walkways, but it is so worth it. You just have to decide today is the day and it makes such a beautiful change. Are you going to remove the rest along the side of the oven wall, that is, if there are more cobbles, but I think to open a channel then for the water to flow away. I am sure the rose will just flourish in it's new growing place. They just need quite a bit of water after transplanting to help it recover. That little black dog took off like a rocket, it was having no more combing or any cleaning out. I don't think Rols expected that getaway, he was actually a bit surprised. Oh well, it's done now, and happy gardening and restoring. Many blessings. Elize

It's so exciting to see the stone drainage path revealed! Your place is so similar to Chateau de Montmagner, which is I think less than 2 hours away from you. They were a Relais de Poste, which I believe your place is as well? They have the drainage paths, and also discovered a large patio area that had been similarly covered in layers of soil and grass. Ted and Lesa are also from Britain. So many similarities, it would be lovely to see you visit them and share stories. Rols, treat Susie to a stay there! You both work so hard it might be a nice excuse to get away for a bit :)

Love the cobbles around the bread oven they set of the building like a fairy tale building, I am amazed at what you accomplish with the sodium bicarb. It is so much better than using that toxic stripper. The only thing I've used it on is to clean the Tupperware like rubber/plastic material that gets yellow and sticky looking. The fireplace is looking incredible, I'm not sure sweet little Lexi appreciates the bath and trim. You two are such hard workers.

Uncovering the stone drainage areas must be difficult but the areas look so beautiful! It was good planning those years back as then muddy areas could be avoided and all the rainwater could be channeled, maybe to a brook or wetlands. Great discovery!

Jobs in a chateau are most certainly more enormous than a simple job in a modern home. It has to be gratifying completing each job though, because it shows just how hard you both work. It must feel so nice to finally sit and take a break at the end of the day. Have a grand week ahead!

My husband George is a builder. He commented that the support brace on your garden gate is going the wrong way. The gate will still drop. I believe it has to go up from the bottom on the hinged side. May not be worth worrying about, and I for one, wouldn't have known. The path is around the bread oven is coming up nicely. Best wishes.

You might try a heat gun. It works on wood but you would have to check if it would hurt the granite

I'm not a fan of painting over the fireplace BUT the windows are so much lighter with the whitewash over the dark garnet just my opinion you own the Chateau. I Love the purple door and red shutters gorgeous. Also such hard tedious work but finding the old stone walks is fantastic

I know what you mean about the granite, but the granite is fairly light in colour, when Rols was doing the fireplace he had to rinse off the excess with water which made the granite look a lot darker than it is. Now it has dried out it has lightened. Glad you like the door and shutters. Take care, Suzie xx

The bread oven would justify the need for flagstones.... But over time, lots of dirt, debris and dust has built up

So much better with the granite of the fireplace exposed. The cobbling is a nice feature that will help keep the walls less damp. I wonder if there isn't a patio area of cobble still to be revealed by the bread oven's exterior door.
I know ivy is destructive but it looks so pretty on the walls
That Airflam burner is quit chic. I think its from about the fifties sixties and there is quilt a bit of info to be found on the internet about it. It seems to be a mazout fuel burner that heats the air and could be places , like your is, in a chimny. Think there might be some vintage dealers who want to pay money for it? The granit looks fabulous! Well done. Suzy did a great job outside!

Wondering if u can use the retro heater as a base for a garden fire basket? Something interesting plate wise on top, curved for holding the Timbers and embers. Cld be fun.
The fireplace looks grand. However, the heater whether it works or not is ugly for that spot. It ruins the appearance of the fireplace. You two work very hard and deserve a beautiful chateau. Jane, Philadelphia
