Congratulations from a French man here who knows what it's like to have it's unique family inheritage put in jeopardy by some ridiculous taxes and that deeply wish that their could be more people like you guys to renovate those wonderfull castles spread all over the country to make it "homes" again.
Hey.. I've read over and over about inheritance taxes in Europe and the US making the actual inheritance impossible. How big are they in France ? Let'''s say this chateau its worth 500K.
@ffructos at least 180k for the state (35% min) and that's not the worst part. You actually got to make sure you split in equal parts among your kids. So if you have spare savings and one kid it's doable, if you have 3 kids, your usually done and got to sell in order to do the split. Same goes for family companies such as wineries...

Fellow Californian here who helped her Dad renovate each house we lived in while searching for the next…this absolutely speaks to me on a DNA level, ha! ….God, if I were only 20 yrs younger, I’d literally toss it all in here and come help you pro bono just to have a hand in such a gloriously worthwhile protect! What a worthy use of one’s hours and heart (I found so many explorer vids during Covid and thought I’d lose my mind over WHY there weren’t people lined up at each to take them on like you are doing 😢). I applaud you guys, and will watch it all with awe (and probably frown a few times at why I’d think I wouldn’t be able to help with something like this 😅. Sigh)

For the past three years or so, I have been watching Chateau videos, but I had rather got to the ho hum stage. However I still watched Philip and Anna and the delightful Benoit, who is my fantasy date. And so it was that you were there when Benoit received his new equipment and Philip recommended your channel. I'm so pleased that he did, I've watched quite a few and it was a delight to stumble across your opening one. Like Philip and Anna, your approach is friendly and makes one feel invited into your lives.What a delight it is to see young people making a success of life, and your chateau is so lovely. I hope you've managed to pay off the inheritance tax by now.

For the past three years or so, I have been watching Chateau videos, but I had rather got to the ho hum stage. However I still watched Philip and Anna and the delightful Benoit, who is my fantasy date. And so it was that you were there when Benoit received his new equipment and Philip recommended your channel. I'm so pleased that he did, I've watched quite a few and it was a delight to stumble across your opening one. Like Philip and Anna, your approach is friendly and makes one feel invited into your lives.What a delight it is to see young people making a success of life, and your chateau is so lovely. I hope you've managed to pay off the inheritance tax by now.
