'Zoo View:' Meet Kansas City's newest penguin chicks Blizzard, Vortex

Something positive came from the brutal winter - the Kansas City Zoo’s newest king penguin chicks Blizzard and Vortex. Meet Kansas City’s newest chicks in this week’s edition of "Zoo View.
Vortex was hatched on Feb 2 during the polar vortex, and fans were asked to suggest names on Facebook. Some of the top contenders were “Snowball,” “Pothole,” “Chilly”, “Icee,” and “Vortex.” Zookeepers chose “Vortex” as the winning name.
Blizzard was hatched on Jan. 13 and was appropriately named “Blizzard” because Kansas City was also going through another stretch of snowy weather, and we were just recovering from one of the first blizzards to hit the region in years.
