I think they’re moving in the right direction with these changes..however, one thing I wish they would add is to be able to drag a window to the edge and have it snap to half the screen, or in the corners rather than having to manually adjust the window size every time
@@fkcombustion You can snap to left or right by holding down Command, right clicking on the green button and selecting the snapping on the drop-down menu, but it’d be nice to at least have a toggle for automatic window snapping for most people who prefer that. 2nd. I also don't love Stage Manager on the iPad because every time I open a new app it opens a new stage. I wish it would just load the app into the current stage. It feels just a few steps short of greatness. That said it's AMAZING for using external monitors with my iPad Pro M1. Edit: just got to the part where you talked about the wish for the setting to allow you to do this -- YES!
This is my biggest issue with it as a new iPad user. Because I'll open apps one at a time and each of their windows end up in their own stage. Then I'll close all the windows in a Stage I'm in and it will take me to another stage of some random app I opened by itself an hour ago. I just want to go back to the home screen when I close all the windows in a stage.

But, my 11 inch iPad Air will be my main computer for everything else and even some lighter games. Thanks so much for this.
Ty! So many reddit pages and TH-cam vids say the iPad is not a "main computer", but here you are showing its full potential. I just got a new iPad Pro and I love the idea of Stage Manager, but as someone who has never used it before, it has a steep learning curve. I want to have floating windows like Stage Manager allows but don't want to deal with multiple stages. It's really annoying when I have one app window open in a stage, close it, and it takes me to a random stage I didn't even know I had open because I didn't understand that opening a single app creates a new stage. When I close all windows in a stage, I want to go back to my home screen by default. Just let me customize that.

Great video! While I'm still very much a Split View + Slide Over iPad user for both technical and personal preference reasons, I do feel that you bring up some valid criticisms for the current implementation of Stage Manager.
It would make a lot of sense if they gave stage manager to the iPad 10 with the 4 Windows-Limit and no option to extend the desktop to a second screen; then kept the Air how it is with 2 Screens a 4 Windows and then gave the iPad Pro support for infinite Windows. That would make both the iPad 10 and the Pro way better while keeping the typical upselling limitations so users have reasons to upgrade to more expensive models.

Photography being my other hobby, I much prefer editing photos on the iPad instead of the Mac. I feel like I have some pretty nice photos and would love to sell them at some point. Not that you can get rid of the typing bar. But minimising it only to have to unminimise it can be a real pain when you’re doing it a lot.
I got it off toggling off Shortcuts, Predictive and Slide on Floating Keyboard to Type, you can find them in General -> Keyboards, now it only appears when I’m using autocomplete
question, i have updated my ipad completely, but i don’t see this feature. do you know what is wrong?
i turned on stage manager, but I can't find it on the pull down area - where could it be? Says green in the control center - but I can't find it
I’d like to switch back to the iPad as my main computer. I recently sold my M1 iPP for an M2 MacBook Air. If I ever give up my game development hobby, I think I’d switch back immediately.
Photography being my other hobby, I much prefer editing photos on the iPad instead of the Mac. I feel like I have some pretty nice photos and would love to sell them at some point. Is there any ways you’d recommend going about doing that?
I have a shortcut on my iPhone that will randomly choose one of my photos for a wallpaper, it then saves it onto iCloud for the iPad to also run a shortcut ~30 minutes later to grab that same file. It’s nice having matching wallpapers on the devices. Unfortunately, I can’t find a way to automate this on the Mac. I always get nice comments on my photos, would love to get them out to the world somehow - that’s not just instagram.
I wish apple add this feature to iPhone

Great video and info. I learned quite a few shortcuts. Also, you mentioned that you can have more than 4 stages at a time. How do I set them up/find them? I’ve never been able to operate more than 4.
What iPad desk stand is that?
