So glad to have been alive and listening during emergence and rise of these fine musicians, and lucky to have survived-still listening-throughout delightful growth of their careers.
It is good to be caught by surprise when something transcends the day to day, opens a window in your existence, and the wind of God tears the curtains off and slams you in the face with joy for the pure thrill of joy. These are some of the best players in the world. If you're not choking down emotions you don't understand by the middle of this, then you're not alive...
Stewart Duncan is absolutely incredible... Of course, they all are, but I literally have never heard him play badly. Always consistent and always amazing.
Mark O'Connor is one of the finest fiddle players alive . . . and he's killing the guitar! He's an incredibly gifted musician as are the rest, but he's a master om and stringed instrument you hand him. He played with my band at age 14 or so, and blew me away playing "Buck's Run" on my mandolin. I knew he was special.
Mark is a ferocious guitar player . I don't think his talent will ever be seen again the Nashville cats blew me away when I heard it the talent on that album was something else .
Another great version of this tune is the opening tune in the Bluegrass documentary Bluegrass Journey that features Jerry, Chris Thile and Byron House playing this @ the Greyfox Bluegrass festival in 2000. I was there and got chills, and not just because of the rain pouring down during the set!
I watched this episode the night it aired. Had never heard of Alison Brown before, but bought her first album within a week of seeing this based on that one solo.
You are right mr. Stone about mr. Stewart Duncan is amazing on the fiddle as always.they all are top players . Put them together and you get best of music.
I don't know anything about the mandolin but I can't believe how accurate Sam is on that thing. Maybe that's why Bill Monroe told him, when he first saw him play, that he better stick to the guitar. Lucky for us he didn't.

Mark O'connor, what an extraordinary musician!
What a GREAT piece from Mr Douglas! I have watched this and other versions of it many times!
I keep coming back to this and I still don't know how to play it right, but I do it anyway. What a wonderful piece of music!

He's great in the Goat Rodeo Sessions with Chris Thile, Edgar Meyer, and Yo-Yo Ma.
He's been a wonderful player since but a mere child.
Hands down the most awesome ever - and ever. I could fly to heaven on this song. God bless them. And Stuart. Wow. You soar.
The dude on the mandolin...
What a gangster, well played sir.
d Алябiev that’s Sam Bush! he’s still rocking today, saw him with SCI for New Years
I can't tell you how many times I have watched this awesome performance. Jerry is amazing and is surrounded by some great talent here.
This is actually a treasure, these guys together.
There’s a lot of great dobro players but I think Jerry is the best
Robert Esposito he is the best!!!
He Is Tops ! Hank Garland said it !!!!!!!!
That seems to be the popular consensus!
Wow, great musicianship all around A+
Awesome. Jerry Douglas has never missed a note. What amazing musicians, and Douglas' song is a great showpiece. Wow!!
Like a pendulum, that Sam Bush! Great work by all.
Closer. To. God. Everytime. Jerry D is doing more than playing Dobro. What a crew though. Stuart Duncan, all these cats are amazing.

What a fantastic mix of talent
Some of the BEST bluegrass I've ever heard
They're all sooooo young - it must be well before 2009, surely? About 1990, maybe?
It was at "Best of Bluegrass 1991"
I watched this episode the night it aired. Had never heard of Alison Brown before, but bought her first album within a week of seeing this based on that one solo.
Stuart Duncan is the absolute fiddle BOSS in the Bluegrass business
You are right mr. Stone about mr. Stewart Duncan is amazing on the fiddle as always.they all are top players . Put them together and you get best of music.

Roy Jr. Back there with zero f's to give
Amazing.
best music all day....ever
How can anyone dislike this, he must be tone deaf or just deaf
Outstanding performance, I can feel it
I see that guy that goes around disliking EVERYTHING has been here. LOL
Pray for him if you're the praying type. So sad to be so hateful your whole life. Yes, a protective mechanism, but just so wrong and painful.
If these guys were going to name themselves as a group, I would call them "Over The Top".
Brilliant
An amazing piece of music!! Does anyone know what tuning Douglas is using on his Dobro? Thanks.
Superb.. just amazing !! Who is playing fiddle ?
Hey sounds great thanks for the follow
Wow!
I don't need (stinky)" Red Bull to fly ", this here gives me real wings.......
Old school!!!😺
I gotta wonder if Sam Bush will ever have back trouble. :>)

Stuart
great dobro player
I'm burning ALL of my instruments now.
Tom Kerkuil standard dobro tuning GBDGBD
Sue: it's written who plays the fiddle !!! Stuart Duncan.......
Darn tootin.. I've managed to convert lots of pseudo-anti-bluegrass (why? WHY?) people who have fallen in love with this tune...
Did Jerry write this song?
Yes he did on his 1992 album Slide Rule.
Also I believe this is from the tour for the album.
