  • Javelin throw specific conditioning may well be the most difficult training to work on successfully for coaches. It is so easy to make mistakes (an any mistake often results in injuries) and so difficult to find the right rate between STRENGTH , SPEED and FLEXIBILITY , with a constant care of the technical factor. This session is a 10 stages specific training circuit example which can be used mostly during the preparation and pre competition periods and which is adapted for advanced athletes of national level (Girls 50m - Boys 65m + ) still needing to improve their specific strength level. Using this session twice a week during a 6 weeks cycle should indeed bring some improvements !!! It can also give some ideas to coaches who don't know exactly how to work with javelin throwers and want to get a change from the usual Squat / Bench / Clean / Snatch traditional training. DP

    I remember Seppo Ratys weight training video where he did pullovers with 100kg barbell lying on 2 sitting-chairs allmost upsidedown....he was strong dude

    To Daniel Kratzman . No , no big throwers , but good throwers . Only had 5 men over 80m , 15 over 70m and 15 girls over 50m .. Obviously you know everything better . You should have applied your knowledge to yourself but after looking at the results, there must have been something wrong somewhere ? Maybe the crew not good enough for you ?

    walking barbell pullovers, no translation into throwing. blocking cable drill isn't executed correctly. left arm and left foot should be same time, not foot.... arm.. no drills driving off right side after. cross over...no big throwers coming from this crew..
