    Thank you for this video i'm a game programmer trying to broaden my modeling skills as well and every single step you mentioned from being able to understand how forms work in the real world and deconstructing the work of others all the way to knowing when to reuse parts and having a workflow are all applicable to the field of programming as well so I really take them to heart.

      I'm glad it helped. Even if it is mostly general advice that can be used for a variety of applications, I find it helps to keep reminding myself of these tips from time to time.

    Any advice on stylized but minimal models? I want to keep it simple so I can create a lot of content, but be interesting.

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, I got some tips, it's actually something I have been playing around with. The main tip is to define the design motif you are going for and learn how to convey more with less.

    • @mana20
      @mana20 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Tosmo for an example, the games Dusk and Ultrakill knew they couldn't compete with AAA FPS, so they went with a pretty minimal PS1 era style. Probably not what I want to do exactly, but having constraints is important when working alone.

I will rebuild the same project next month after watching some more toturials of other stuff like cloth physic cables better glass, light, and baking

    so for a gun like this, are you adding new primitive shapes when you are adding to the gun and it's detail? Or could you use existing topology to add on to the gun?
    I'm learning blender and I love it, so much to learn but 4 months ago I knew nothing about modeling, now I know a little more and can create some stuff, nothing crazy but it's fun to see progress and I know I can create something special in the future with more persistence.
    edit - seems like you cover this in your steps. I appreciate the video thank you for your knowledge!

      @@joyz_style I think the donut is a mess for a beginner, basically blender guru shows you everything in 1 tutorial (nodes, particles, sculpting, modeling, texture painting, animation etc). As an absolute beginner I found it really challenging, I've made it 1 year ago and I must say that the tutorial is brilliant to understand (a little) blender's potential and complexity. • @Tosmo

      While I love getting out to find real world reference, most of the time you need to rely of web research to fill in as much detail as possible. There is a very helpful resource section in my Discord server linked in the description, from there you can learn to hunt for your own sources.

    Hi. Very nice 15 minutes (5 minutes to watch again). I am learning blender for 1 month. But because of I am 3d game developer too, blender felt very familiar to me and I already started to model hard models. But I dont know that when my model is ready to sell online. How can I know and be sure that my model is really error-free and good.

    • @Tosmo
      @Tosmo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can check your model for as many errors as possible. Try exporting it to different programs in different formats. Think of how people might use the model in their projects, and optimize it for that.
