For anyone wondering, the surface pen tip pushing in when you write is intentional to make it feel more like you are writing with a pencil and it gives you more precise pressure control
no, the reason the tip goes in, is because that is how the pressure sensor works. the sensor cant measure pressure if it doesnt slide inside. it needs to capture a bit of energy from the pressure into motion to calcuate the pressure. apple pencils arent pressure sensitive, and draw dumb flat lines.
I loved my MacBook but switched to a really good (and expensive) windows laptop. I use it for school, creative work and some gaming so it works for everything. It was about as pricey as a MacBook but with better specs so It didn't feel like a downgrade at all.
I never used Apple products. I've always used microsoft products and I understand what you are saying. I don't think I would switch to Apple, since I'm using microsoft for so long now. It just wouldn't be convenient for me now.
I tried to switch to MacOS and STRUGGLEDDDD!! It was so frustratin! I use an iPad (love it). I use an IPhone (could switch between any device honestly: kinda want a Pixel) and I’ve used Windows a long time and it’s just more reliable to me less to mess up.

I've had my Microsoft Surface Book 1 for almost 4.5 years now. I am an engineering student so it's seen a lot of heavy use, computing, modeling, note taking, running simulations, etc. It's holding up still quite well. I haven't had any issues on it except one time when it shut down and wouldn't turn on and I had to send it in for repair but other than that, still works great, the tablet works great, the battery holds up (though not the same as day 1) about 6 hrs/full battery. My advice to anyone getting it is to take care of your laptop charger!! I went through 3 chargers and they're not cheap (used to be around $100). If you fold or wrap your chargers know that the Microsoft surface charger is not designed for that.
Hey would you say this is q good deal in 2021. A surface book 1 with i7 and 16 gb ram , 512 ssd and the gpu version keyboard? All for tge price of $650 Canadian?
Exactly why I can’t switch devices. We are an Apple ecossistem at home lol. So losing this is very hard, specially when it’s something you are used for so long! Your review was amazing. Thank you!
I'm not a big fan of Apple, I'm from Brazil so here it's so expensive. Microsoft is cheaper and I can say better, because in my college they offer a microsoft package for free I've never tried apple apps, one day I will try
I use both Microsoft and Apple. At work I use Microsoft and at home I use Apple. I know is a very very very unpopular opinion but I still prefer Apple. I love that all my devices are connected, the OS is clean and simple, and I have always had great experiences with my devices every single time. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that only last year started getting slow but I never gave it any maintenance and I was not very kind with it. We also have a MacBook Pro from 2017 that my son’s dad got but is now my son’s classroom and the thing is as good as new, he got himself the 2019 MacBook Pro and I honestly do not see any difference between the two, both might as well be new. Again, is just my personal experience but given the years of service my devices are giving me, I would say that the cost was worth it.

I am getting a laptop for my 2nd year of college, this is such a great review that I am fortuned to watch, thank you!
I personally would not recommend it. :( A friend of mine and me bought them for the new Semester and both of our devices broke. Mine would not attach to the keyboard anymore and my friend‘s broke when she opened up the laptop and the top just broke off. I think that the mechanism between the monitor and the keyboard really is the weakpoint in this device. (P.S. we of course used them in a gentle/normal way and because of covid only at home (no transportation in a backpack etc.))

The new macbook pro with the m1 chip would also be an option. The 512GB version costs 1600 € which I think is relatively good pricing. Just thought I would mention it. :)
Personally, I wouldn't recommend these to content creators (yet) as it will take time for all apps to be optimised for the new MacBooks and since they only come with a maximum of 16GB RAM!
I bought a Microsoft book today, I needed a new laptop and this seemed good, I dont generally like apple. The book seemed to meet my needs as it is versatile, and for content creation, not to mention the stellar camera for social distancing. I hope it works out because if not I might just get a thinkpad

Its lighter than my old computer, and great for zoom, but I haven't had a chance to use the touch screen much and it overheated when playing high resolution games in steam, which is a bummer cause the computer will freeze and shut down so i have to be selective of what games to use but overall it's a good work computer for simple tasks.
Hi! It's definitely more comparable to the weight of the MacBook Pro than the MacBook Air so if weight is a big factor for you, this one might not be for you!
I have both surface book 3, the 15in, and MacBook Pro 16in.. With the surface book 3, I'm able to have iCloud on the surface and able to open files that's in the MacBook Pro. Also, if you have onenote app, you can also share between Mac and windows. onenote is like pages for iOS, but for both Mac and pc.
Surface Book 3 is the best road warrior device on the market. It does everything well and all in one. I gave up Apple over a decade ago for its lack of flexibility.

I have surface book pro 2 and it has a really short battery life only after a year of use. It only last an two hour if I am just working on a word document.🥲 after this I don’t think I’ll buy another Microsoft product ever again

Please don’t buy any surface products, software has many issues, they update it regularly, whenever new updates comes the system fails in many other hardware things...for me in last update and the keyboard and mouse stopped working...customer service is worst. Doesn’t worth the money we pay to those people!!!!!
About 70% of the planet use Windows over Apple computers. Half of them largely due to the same reasons that people are loyal to Apple. However for ‘not’ wanting to do those things. It’s very simple. Do whatever floats your boat. 😉

The surfacebook does have a headphone jack, yes.
There is an option of connecting your phone with Microsoft, but I think not with iPhone 😅
