What a series! Pataudi instilled self-confidence in the minds of players. He was the first captain to do so. He always played for wins. Redpath went on to become a great opener for Australia. Great upload once again Jai.

I was student of class X in 1964 and enjoyed running commentary on radio.
Chandu Borde and V L Manjrekar fought gallantly and gave India historic win against mighty Australian Cricket team on Dussehra.

I was at this match with my father. We took the train from Bandra to Churchgate and then walked to Brabourne Stadium. I will always remember this match. I was 8 years old and I remember this game like it was yesterday. My father is now dead and buried in Canada, but I always think of the two of us watching this match.

Bombay test is the only one I ever watched live in 1964. I was 23 then. Only one day. Chandrasekhar bowling was superb.

The days were totally different then. For the purpose of acclamatization, each touring team would play county matches against the zonal teams, before getting down to the serious business of test cricket. It was truly a gentlemens' game in every sense. No mouthing incentives at the batsmen, no unnecessary staring or ugly celebrations, up on claiming a wicket or reaching a land mark. No TV coverage and the radio commentary was the means of following the course of the game. I started following cricket from the year 1968 beginning with India vs New Zealand series, being a Hyderabadi. Even after passage of these many years, I remain an ardent follower of cricket, irrespective of any affiliation. Presently, iam enjoying each and every match in the 13th CWC being played in India.

For this series, flamboyent Budhi kundaren was dropped!
who score staggering (and highest )525 runs against the england before this series!(and this record by a wk is unbroken till date!)
If late Budhi would have played this series result would have been 2-1 in favour of india!
I think he was vinod kambli of 70s!
Scapegoat for nothing!(or best known to selectors!)

One correction. During the 1947 tour of Australia, India in the second test boles out Australia for 107 after scoring 188. So that was the first instance of India taking the first innings lead over Australia.

Wow! I salute your knowledge. You should bring this error to the attention of Mihir Bose, author of A History of Cricket in India, whose book I follow. He might correct this in the next edition. Thanks

@@JaiGalagali No it could be that in India, this was the first time India overtook the Australian score which is correct. May be Mihir Bose meant that. Glimpses of the 1947 test at Sydney are there on you tube.

Thank you so so much for this upload Sir. I suspect the success in this series gave Indian cricket the desperately needed momentum to emerge from its infancy. Sadly, this series seems to be completely forgotten today. I’ve never read any article or heard anyone speak about this series, and I’ve followed the game closely for 25 years now!
