Why are you hesitating in calling him the first Indian captain to bring the team in one fold , Indian cricket Team. Some senior cricketers were unhappy to play under someone so young but his great acumen on the game and reading the conditions of wicket and temperament of opposition players made us all believe he was a right choice. His batting quality and ability to hit over cover was unparalleled. I saw him closely in Indore stadium and understood how fast he was as a fielder. Those days our players like Manjrekar never chased a ball to boundary he made all understand the importance of fielding. He was great cause he was one who made team believe they can win against great teams like England and Australia.
