    Just noticed that you're playing the white keys as well as the black ones. Apparently Irving could only ever pick out a tune on the black keys - he couldn't write music. When he came to England he advertised for an assistant - a friend of mine knew the chap who got the job. He had to live with Berlin and whenever the composer got an idea for the tune (any time night or day), Irving would whistle or hum it, and the assistant would have to play it back on the piano, and if Irving liked it, he would then have to put it down on paper with chords etc.

    You're a Grand Old Flag, first came out se You're a Grand Old Rag. It didn't go over well, After the "change" it became very popular. I have it both ways on Edison 2-min. cylinder records
