I'd read somewhere that the drummer (Keith Moon) literally had to have his headphones duct-taped to his head to keep them from flying off during the show. Also was famous for chucking things out of hotel room windows (tvs, furniture, whatever....). Pete Townsend (lead guitar) gave us the 'windmill' style of playing guitar. Roger Daltry (singer) gave us the lasso twirl microphone. Brilliantly cool sound for sure. If you've ever seen a CSI episode, you've heard one of their songs as the theme.
Roger Daltrey is the singer, Pete Townsend is the guitar player, John Entwistle is the bassist and of course, Keith Moon is the manic drummer!! Yeah, John Entwistle just chills off to the side but is a killer on the bass. Interesting tidbit: On the muppet show, the drummer, Animal, is modeled on Keith Moon. Check it out.
When this gig was being filmed at Shepperton Studios for a movie by The Who called "The Kids Are Alright", in the studio next to where The Who were performing.....the film "Alien" was being filmed. The cast and crew of "Alien" took a break and went over to watch The Who gig live. They like the laser show at the end of Won't Get Fooled Again so much, they ended up borrowing the laser equipment from The Who and used it in the "Alien" movie. So the next time you watch "Alien", keep an eye out for The Who's lasers!
The Move sometimes trashed their guitars, but The Who did it so often and they were four BRILLIANT musicians! Amazing that they can play so well while jumping around. John Entwistle is so much fun to watch just standing there. Might be the best bassist in all of rock 'n' roll.
Thanks for the reaction. The Who, Led Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, early Aerosmith and so many others are worth a listen. And I like your Bibby jersey in the back! - loved him with the Kings in Sac!...good times.
When I first saw the Who in 1973, they had pretty much ended their smash the guitar phase that had dominated their early years. They put on the best concert I've ever seen and then did an encore after about 30 minutes of cheering. Pete smashed a guitar for us and then, after the neck broke, threw the body across the stage. That was the highlight, but it was the 2 1/2 hours of great music that made it a great concert.
Who Fan since 1978 (I was 8 years old, lol!)...my favorite band of all time! I will subscribe for more Who reactions. Keith Moon (AKA Moon the LOON) is the drummer...wildman, madman...best drummer ever! Drove a Lincoln Continental into a Holiday Inn swimming pool on his 21st birthday and got The Who a lifetime ban from Holiday Inn back in the 60s. Also enjoyed flushing cherry bombs down the toilets of hotels among other things! Held the record for loudest band ever...many, many great songs and performances...many mentioned in the comments. John Entwistle (bass guitarist) AKA thunderfingers
Opps didn't finish about John; he may be chill on stage, but, his other nickname was The Ox...because he was known to be able to out party everyone off stage and frequently got into mischief with Kieth Moon off stage. Roger Daltrey (singer) was known to be a fighter... he knocked Keith out and got into it with Pete as well. Pete Townshend (guitar) is a creative mastermind and wrote the majority if the Who songs...they are my favorite band and will always be for the rest if my life!
The Who was arguably the greatest live band ever! For more great live performances by them, check out their performance at Woodstock. Check out their live performance of My Generation on The Smothers Brothers Show. Pete Townshend suffered permanent hearing loss after Keith Moon put extra explosives in his drum kit. Bette Davis allegedly fainted backstage. Also check out their live performance of A Quick One on the Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus, and check out any live performance prior to 1978 of Young Man Blues. They have a LOT of other great songs you should react to as well.
The Who.... inolvidables!! Cuatro músicos de excelencia. RIP Keith Moon 😢...RIP John Entwistle 😢. Locos maravillosos ❤❤❤❤. Me da mucho gusto que te gustaran!! Su discografía es muy grande, vale el tiempo que les dedíques, no te defraudarán!! Gracias 🙏🙏🙏
Right , in the US there are people who actually believed the BS of Kamala Harris Being from California Im thinking these people are so easily manipulated. Have a fantastic week.
There is a vid where the drummer blows up his kit with a bomb. It was much to heavy so the blast and the stuff went all over the place, the guys in front had ear damage. Very crazy and dangerous but also very funny to watch. This band lived fast and hard, two of them already died of overdosis, or did to much rock and roll. Great band though.
Such a freaking banger. Don't know if you've done Who are you yet and Pinball Wizard is a good one too. Please check out Tragically Hip New Orleans is sinking studio version 🙏 Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️BTW I'm pretty sure the Muppet Animal is a representation of Keith Moon on drums..if you know you know 😅. Also if not only for your own reference you should always listen to the studio version of the live performances cause it's usually different with added content for live shows. But to appreciate it like we first experienced it you need to hear the studio version too. That's what made the live shows uniquely different from the studio version 😊 Oh and I know you love the Sax so Betty Lou is getting out tonight from Bob Seger ❤
Keith beat the drums like they owed him money 😅😅😅 John "thunder fingers" Entwhistle, Pete Townsend (pretty much wrote everything and known to be an asshole) and Roger Daltrey.
The onstage antics of the Who overshadowed the importance/meaning of the lyrics at the time it was written. Reactors miss the message because they are busy being razzle dazzled. Too bad. It was a perfect rage against the political machines of the world, still going on today. I mean "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss?" REALLY?! YES, REALLY!
Hey bro … Doodness. Introduced you to Boston. Would love to send some more gifts your way, but I’m still waiting on Heart Barracuda and another I slid you a few to review. But … Breaking the mold and expanding your musical guitar love, I’d like to introduce you to something new. Polyphia. “Playing God”. Tim Henson will change everything you know or think you know about guitar. I’ll toss a few bones for that if you spin it.
Do the studio version of this song as well. It is an entirely a different experience, you will be glad you did: th-cam.com/video/zYMD_W_r3Fg/w-d-xo.html
Make sure to hit that 👍🏽 button and subscribe for more!!! Road to 30k🤯 THIS WAS TOO FUNNY.
Greatest live band to ever step foot on a stage, the innovators of violence on stage, often imitated , never duplicated!
You can't imitate this!
Paul Revere and the Raiders were the first band to smash their intruments on stage though.
Jimi Hendrix was so blown away by The Who that he decided to set fire to his guitar after watching them smashing their guitars.
Who Bassist John Entwistle said. "I was the anchor that kept the other 3 from flying off into space."
He let his fingers do the talking.
He also said “going on tour with the Who was like looking after three naughty kids!!!
You’ve just experienced the greatest live performance of a song ever !

They were so GREAT!!! Incredible songwriting and tremendous live!!!

I saw them destroy the whole setup on stage live. It is so cool. Be yourself! I am 61, and I saw their farewell tour in 1982.
Best scream in the history of rock! Happy Holidays Dreeezy! I enjoyed watching you react to this iconic performance!
Thank you for the heart, I truly appreciate it!
One of the early influences for punk rock to be sure.
The Move sometimes trashed their guitars, but The Who did it so often and they were four BRILLIANT musicians! Amazing that they can play so well while jumping around. John Entwistle is so much fun to watch just standing there. Might be the best bassist in all of rock 'n' roll.
They were the best concert I was ever at. And I have been to many.
Thanks for the reaction. The Who, Led Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, early Aerosmith and so many others are worth a listen. And I like your Bibby jersey in the back! - loved him with the Kings in Sac!...good times.
One of the greatest bands of all time. Their performances in concert are legendary. No one was quite like the Who.
From a guy who saw The Who in 79 and 11 (and Rick James) “Cocaine’s a helluva drug!” 😮👀👃❄️☃️
John Entwistle was one of the greatest bassists, ever!

i've always wondered why Pete randomly decides to do a chicken walk in the middle of the performance
I just pretty much assume the reason Townshend did anything in this performance is cocaine, after all it was 1978 and he was in a rock band.
I remember back in the early eighties me and my brother cracking up over Pete Townshed...you're laughter is tickling me!!

This was the opening song.🤯🤯 The closer was so wild, they smashed all the cameras that contained film at the time. It was lost forever. 🤔🤔
Gen X Anthem...
Remember this well.
Cheers! 🍄🌲🍄💥✨🌈
Check out the Who's My Generation on the Smothers Brothers show-surprise ending!
This song is just as relevant now as it was when it was first written. You could apply it to the world today.
Nice reaction! My brother is a bass player and he believes John Entwistle was the best ever.
Keith & John are deceased. We only have Roger & Pete left. They were a phenomenal band. We Boomers had the best of it.....!!
as others have said, perhaps the best lyrics in all of rock and roll: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!
Bassist John Entwistle (aka The Ox.)
Saw them at the Texas jam Dallas cotton bowl. Early 80s.
Sadly people did indeed get fooled again. 🙄
Right , in the US there are people who actually believed the BS of Kamala Harris Being from California Im thinking these people are so easily manipulated. Have a fantastic week.
Very live. Filmed for the movie The Kids Are Alright ❤🎉😊
👍🏻👍🏻💯❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏
I call it NO AUTO-TUNE like the BS today.

That is crazy😂😂😂 i gotta go find that

True, but if you are going to be razzle dazzled this is the way to do it.
