I keep my actual backpacking backpack ready to go at all times. I didn't know that this practice is called a "bug out bag". Funny, my pack is a Kelty too. I was patient and looked at many many packs before I purchased mine, and the Kelty is great! They are intelligently designed to be simple and practical without all of the straps and crap that make a pack seem cool when really they are a chaotic headache.
Thanks for the explanation at the beginning.A lot of people in my humble biased opinion purchase a lot of unnecessary gear for their so-called bug out bag. When in most cases they have 10 times more gear than what they actually need. But for your explanation/ reason, I can see your idea and can agree with most of it. Thank you for the video Sir.
Awesome kit. Stealing my husbands army bags for my bob too ha ha they are awesome. He's been out 4 years. Thanks for your service and sharing your knowledge
BIG PLUS for the lockpicks !!! I think this should be in every EDC kit when you go out in the forest !!! A lot of people either don't think about it (or just don't mentioned it).
You're probably more experienced than I am, but as an avid backpacker I'd suggest getting a bigger pack fly, that built in one won't keep it dry in a downpour, I've learned that the hard way. REI has some nice ones online you can order.
ferro rod should be in a water-proof container as they corrode from weather, the pen is a toss out. it will freeze and will not write in the rain...( i am a surveyor, i know) instead use a pencil with the lead harder than #2. success always. i am subbed.
If you put a solar landscape light on the out side of your bag it can charge all day while you hike and you'll have a lamp in your shelter for a dollar or two
Anyone who See's this message you are so valuable and special to Jesus he loves you so unconditionally you have no idea and he knows you personally doesn't matter what you done he'll forgive and wait for you to come to him so he can give you rest no joke he loves you so much!
Many people have embraced for the "grab and go" bug out kits and builds, but I have yet to see any topics for "alright, sour and SHTF scenario is now, I need intelligence of my new habitat". If one is to be prepared, chapter two too needs to be prepared for, and gathering HU-INT, SIG-INT, and grab any supplies left behind is something I'd like to learn more about. Great video, glad I'm a subscriber to your channel.
Great video thank you! I'm old and gimped up so will be staying in place if trouble starts but we are also in a bad fire area with this Ca drought. Have a bag for all of us and I am always updating or changing😉 I do have Max's edc, fr-1, versa pack gunslingers but I sure like the looks of your kelty!
Haha I got lost for 7 weeks in Yukon, Canada and only had a knife, lighter and clothes on my back. In my opinion if I had all this equipment from the video it would probably be way harder to survive looking back. Still good video.
Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "ultimate survival kit bug out bag reviews" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Pansaac Ideological Preeminence - (search on google ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to collate your effective bug out plan for survival minus the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work buddy got amazing success with it.
Remember the pack is not important, it's what you have in it & how well its organized. *MOST IMPORTANT* thing you can carry is knowledge! Cause its light weight!

That's an awesome pack!. I've had my heart set on getting the 5.11 Rush 72 hour for a few months now but after seeing this video I think I've changed my mind.
I think you have a well rounded kit but how do you carry your side arm, knife, flashlight, and other on your person items with your bug out bag on? Everytime I travel in the woods long distances I have to play holster shuffle from pack mounted to belt mounted once I arrive at camp. I would love to have a system to hold 18lbs of gear that plays nice with my IWB holster, flashlight, and sheath knife.
What was your knife sharpener? it looked looked a cheese grater. And a preset angle sharpener might be more usefull, unless you have godlike precision.
Good backpack mate me being British I am used to the British Army Bergen with the PLCE but you have a very desirable backpack. Good kit and it is a shame here in England we don't have the freedom of carrying a sidearm weapon or any weapon and it is very difficult even to get a licence to buy a weapon for hunting plus permits, etc. I envy you guys! ;)
BlackScoutSurvival I like your idea on rappelling, here we can have 20 foot liffs in the middle of nowhere, what would you suggest for a real basic kit for that
Hector Zambrano I know it's a bit late but an ideal place would be a place with lots of deadfall(tinder) such as fire starting material.A nearby water source is extremely important.A close food supply or a few squirrels are okay.Trees should be spread apart just to build a hootchie to sleep under. Also never sleep under a tree with branches because when high wind speeds occur while sleeping branches tend to fall and crush people. As someone who served in army programs I know a few stories.
Don't pick a bug out location that's more than a full tank of gas away (if you're vehicle-borne). You cannot count on being able to find gas in a shtf situation. My view is, you need as many methods of transport as possible. We have, road vehicle, 4 wheeler, kayaks and boots. Three is two, two is one and one is none.
Might sound silly but a dog would be a good companion not just for company ,but you have an extra set of ears and eyes . Just not a yappy dog ,my dog rarely barks . He could hear something I could not
How much water does that bottle hold? And material is it? If it holds more than 30 oz, can you please tell me the make and model. Thanks in advance! BTW, great channel, and videos. Keep up the good work. Semper Fi!
+BlackScoutSurvival I was wondering how well you think that the zipper on smaller front pocket will hold up if you have a bit of weight attached to the molle on the front. I am very interested in the pack and I read on a forum that someone thought that the zipper might give under weight, and I really would like your opinion. also I was wondering how well you thought the stitching was. thank you so much for doing all your reviews they have been very useful to me.
Steven Wiggins they are pretty stout zippers. so i believe it will hold. I have hung things from a carbine off of it and it didn't open the stitching is good. its a very durable rough use pack brother
I know this was five years ago, still a great video very great content, and just as valid for the today we are all living. Was wondering if you can do a bug out for a small family, or for women..?(for a subscribed fan😅)
New sub here. Am becoming more aware of how oir society is becoming more violent and I am becoming more aware. I am completely new to the survivalist community. I am not military nor law enforcement. I'm an avergae citizen. What do you recommend my first few steps to be prepared for situations that go south? What would you tell someone new to wanting to be a survivalist?
Build a bug out bag that can sustain you for as long as possible. I've been into this seriously for about a year and a half. I chose the USMC ILBE main pack as my long term Bug Out Bag. Once you have the Bug Out Bag finished, I'd get my defense options squared away, i went with an AR15 and a Glock 19X 9mm handgun. Then i would focus on bugging in and stock up on as much food as you can get, build a water catchment system and a way to filter the water like a big berkey, medical supplies, and self reliance tools, and anything else you might need. That's basically what I've done in a nutshell.
Black scout. Hey man I learned from another military guy that the lid/fanny pack clips to your shoulder straps, to carry it on your chest. Did you know that. This is the 66 right. Check that out if u didn't know that. I never did. Though it was cool as hell
Aww there we go, the man who thinks he is always the smartest person in the room. Having training is different that living it! it is one thing to sit in your living room and tell us how smart you, get out in the bush and show us.

BIG PLUS for the lockpicks !!! I think this should be in every EDC kit when you go out in the forest !!! A lot of people either don't think about it (or just don't mentioned it).
I think it's a great part of kit but you don't want to carry it around with you because in a lot of places it's illegal
You're probably more experienced than I am, but as an avid backpacker I'd suggest getting a bigger pack fly, that built in one won't keep it dry in a downpour, I've learned that the hard way. REI has some nice ones online you can order.

This was the first video I ever watched from you. And now there's no looking back hahaha I'm hooked
Why not put your water purification tablets in the side pouch of your canteen cover?

Thats almost 2 months bruh. xD
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SPLITTING THIS INTO TWO PARTS!! I ABSOLUTELY HATE WATCHING BUG OUT BAG VIDEOS THAT ARE 40 MINUTES LONG, NO PARTS.
Haha. Me too. My attention span is way too short for that. Glad you liked it.
BlackScoutSurvival Nor do I have the time, lol. Are you in the Marines?
I was 8 years. My bio is in my website. www.blackscoutsurvival.com
BlackScoutSurvival Ah, thank you for your service. Best survival channel, no-bullshit channel. Haha. Cya brother.
Thanks boss
Looks like an older falcon 4000. Bought the same pack off botach like 9 years ago and it’s awesome
Melt candle wax, soak up with dryer lint. Waterproof fire starter for cheap.
I'm pretty sure supply is still looking for that compass, I'm positive I police called for it.
Water purifaction tablets with the cardboard packaging still attached. Oh my.

Its a 65L Kelty Eagle basically, when you take the removable top and side pockets off a Kelty Eagle it is 100L, otherwise its something like 125L
Nice bag, but at $300 +, I won't be getting it anytime soon. Lol. Love your reviews though.

Hi great video and what's in your winter bug out bag
That's a nice backpack for sure, very feature rich.
This video is really helpful i am really struggling to what I should put in my bag and leave behind thank you very much 😁
I’m a new sub and I’ve already learned a ton of great info from your channel. Also my dad is a marine corps vet :)
I just discovered this channel and I just looove it. I learned so much, thanks. Onze question, what brand/type/model is your backpack? Thanks again
Can you do a video of this big out bag with winter gear closer to the winter?
hey just wanted to say Thankyou for your videos and service
That's an awesome pack!. I've had my heart set on getting the 5.11 Rush 72 hour for a few months now but after seeing this video I think I've changed my mind.
Definitely go with a Kelty framed pack over something like the rush 72. Kelty builds packs for guys who really use them.
Eight Leg Outdoors Thanks!
BlackScoutSurvival I guess I'll be buying the Kelty then. Thanks!
whats in your EDC kit? I really like that small pouch do a video!
Great vid!! Can the Pack in this vid hold a MSS- Military Sleeping System??
Do you have a video of the best flashlights out there? such as best for size, easy to carry or brightest or what have you?
I have 3 bags. A small one for my daughter, and one for me and my girlfriend. Gear is spread out with a little redundancy.
