That final level where you had the game over is nuts, tough as nails, helicopters just flood the screen leaving you with no where to move. Fun game though, I appreciate that it actually gives you a nice margin of error, unlike other Gen shooters. And awesome soundtrack!

It had you controlling a helicopter in a similar fashion as this (top-down), and I clearly remember the bosses having theme music that sounded to me like the Japanese metal band Loudness. Wish I could remember what it was called....

I love this kind of games but I am lousy at them. It's like my eyes can spot the projectiles but I can't react accordingly. In games with enemy and boss patterns I do OK, but in more random bullet hell games I suck big time.
The sound is pretty impressive for the Genesis I have to say! But the graphics... Well, they really don't take that much advantage of the 2 BG layers of the system, so it could totally be done better on the Turbografx 16 (you know, more colours on-screen) The game itself looks nice, it seems like it would be a good time to play through
+Ruko Michiharu yeah definitely what i would call a hidden gem but its definitely an odd one. plays like a toaplan shooter but with some WEIRD ass mechanics. Some of the powerups are just off and while i mostly agree with the review...i personally find this game INCREDIBLY easy. Its so cool that he reviewed it cuz i JUST got a hold of this. This is an arcade port and well...its a faithful conversion and all, but lacks that lil something something the arcade version has. I guess this is where i disagree with everyone here...i think the OST for this game is mind numblingly awful. Some of the worst voice samples on cart ever! Oh i am sure there are people on the net that can listen to game music and rearrange/remix it to awesome levels! :-P

King's bounty is to be honest a GLORIOUS train wreck of an rpg, and prolly the best representative of those odd ball PC A-rpg's that were hobos before finding console homes in the genesis.

I'dd rate this game somewhere around 7 or 7.5/10. It's got some great elements but the game is indeed frustratingly difficult and at times and seams cheap. The lack of variety of music is another thing that bothers me, but the one track is really good. The bosses are kinda mediocre but it's still a fun game and all around pretty good shooter. I always get angry at stage 5 and want to throw the game out the window but it's very rewarding if you just stick it out and get through it. It might take a few dozen times though.
