Good list. For me Undead Line, Elemental Master, Trouble Shooter and Battlemania 2 all make my list but there are so many excellent shooters on the Genesis it's hard to decide where to fit them in.
Anything between Aleste and the Thunderforces I would have put lower rank and instead have added hellfire and Gaïares. Very interesting how personal history and tastes influence such a list :) thanks for the work of creating this video! It was fun and I liked watching it

Thank you very much for this list, I see there are many absolute gems missing in my collection! Sega has so many more interesting games than Super Nintendo, I only have R-Type III, Gradius III, Phalanx, Secret of Evermore on SNES while the Sega Genesis alone already has 50 interesting games plus the Sonic games, and of course the most important one: The Wolfteam Sol-Feace ;)
Im not sure if it waa on this list, but there was a space shooter way back when i was like 5 (1996) and my grandfather had got me this really cool sega game where you had to choose different planets towards the end game. I remember the first level the most. Picking either a red or a blue ship (it was also 2player) to race across a sun when you get attacked by these burning fish monsters only to encounter their mom and she is mad and hungry xD it was amazing! But it has been lost to time. And these other shooters are pretty awesome!! :D
(I know I'm two years late, but in case anyone's still wondering...) that game was most probably Sagaia /Darius II. The description fits perfectly, at least.

Thunder force is my iiissshhhh!!!! My uncle had a 16 bit and b4 he gave it to me I used to play thunder force a lot and that shoot em up where you're a sheriff...can't remember the name but yea SOR, MK, Sonic. 90s had some great 2D side strollers for any genre of itch you needed scratching.

Подскажите, мой отец играл в одну игру, где корабль летит по горизонтали, в зависимости от буста, меняет звет и тип стрельбы (вверх/вниз, лево/право, по диаогонали и т.д.), там был точно уровень где летало что то по типу головов фараона (все противники летали сверху и низу, делали круг и возвращались, помню что там было около 10и уровней и последний босс был огромный корабль почти на весь экран, я помню отец дошел идин раз но победить не смог
i a gree with the list, they might be rare and expensive, but not necessary the best in gaming. I do seriously agree with the list, that in top down shooters Raiden, Truxton and specially grind stormer are better games than early musha aleste though musa aleste has better music. and in side view shooters, thunder force 4 is the absolute best in very aspect, wether is gameplay wepons range stages and music..

How the FUFK is MUSHA not on here at all, LET ALONE not in the #1 spot?!?!?!?!? The Thunderforce games are great, but the fact that there's 2 of them, nearly identical games no less, makes them less special than MUSHA, ergo MUSHA should be number 1.... especially when it IS arguably a better game as well...
