Thank you both! I love hearing about Dallas and the relationship you both had with him. His sermons and books changed my life but I did not get introduced to him until many years after his death. I am shaped by the legacy you both carry on! Thank you for your amazing work, spirit and words!!!!

Holy Leisure. I just finished a little book called Chair Time. Basic premise is sitting and listening to God. Not easy. I’m a multitasker and doer. It’s not talking TO God. It’s listening to Him. The author (Dan Southerland) says it may take some time since we’re used to speaking at God and not being still enough to listen - really listen - to Him.

Great point, Todd! It's in that quiet that we can learn to listen and share dialog with the Lord, prayer is not just our monologue to Him! Thanks for sharing! - Rob

I will have to listen a second or third time to absorb all this great content. Another spiritual thinker to delve into - James Bryan Smith. How good of God to show Himself through these "family members"👌

I love this insight about the spiritual disciplines. I was in a church that emphasized “the quiet time” with toxic narratives about self and God. 😮 What you believe about God can destroy you and others if you are believing toxic things. 😢

A wonderful podcast because John is conversational not lecturing, so thank you for that. I am so pleased to hear what James Smith said about not understanding Dallas Willard for many, many years. I really thought that there was something wrong with me as I don't understand so much of what he says. Now I can relax more and perhaps enjoy reading The Divine Conspiracy...again!

An entire psychic change has occurred! From "don't just sit there DO SOMETHING!"
    to
"don't just do something, SIT THERE!"
Not as a license for sloth, as I once thought, but as an exercise in waiting for further instruction.
Transformational spiritual experience happens for me and these moments of pause… Thy will not mind be done🙏🏼🎁🙏🏼

I was wondering if each of these videos about Our Story are on the podcast or is this a different recording than what is shared on the podcast??
I am loving all that’s being shared so grateful! Im grateful your Pastoring has gone out from a single building church to be able to Pastor many beyond the building. Talk about beauty from ashes John! I know the pain of what you went through is terrible yet what God brought from it in your story to preach to so many more is astounding. I am grateful you took what was meant for harm and worked with God to bring about such good for us all! May God bless you and your family.
