Love this video. As a former Ozempic user I’d like to weigh in. I know all the scientific reasons Ozempic works but for me, personally, it worked because of the intense nausea and vomiting that came along with it. I didn’t want to eat because just looking at food made me nauseous. My esophagus began to feel burned and I weighed the options of adding an anti nausea med (with more side effects) or dumping the Ozempic. I dumped the Ozempic and am going plant based. ❤
Best thing I ever did was reading the book Woman’s weight loss secrets: the unspoken truth, after applying the knowledge I got from the book I feel like the cellulite is magically disappearing from my body
Glad I found this video. I packed on weight having two babies back to back, eating processed food because they're "easy" and cheap. I looked into ozempic, and the side effects freak me out, and I don't want to be on this medicine for the rest of my life to maintain any weight-loss. But this "diet" seems simple, affordable and sustainable. Going to give it a shot.
Ive been whole food plant based vegan since 1993. One of the best decisions I ever made. Im 65 now and all my friends struggle with weight gain, T2DM, HTN , HLD, and CAD. My doctor always says he wished all his senior patients ate this way. I would not have been able to stick with it if it wasnt simple! Great video. ❤❤
I discovered you August 1st and I'm down 15 pounds, love this sustainable way of eating. I'm struggling a bit at the moment because I've made some poor decisions, but I'm not at all letting that change my trajectory. You are awesome Chelsea and I wish you all the success!
I have to respectfully disagree about eating breakfast, as someone who is addicted to food, just like any addiction once you start it's almost impossible to stop. I find waiting as long as possible to eat to be more beneficial, because if I have my first meal of the day at 9 a.m. I'll just be eating all day
I’ve gone to 1 big meal a day & that’s enough to keep me going. It’s stopped all the food noise, & cravings. Plus I’m not getting all the insulin spikes every time u eat something
Hi Chelsea, We share the same passion for the chemistry of food and our amazing physiological digestive processes. I am a Clinical Nutritionist and Naturopath in Australia and to those who say "I 'm not hungry in the morning", I answer "You ate too much the night before". If people could eat half of their evening meal and save the rest for breakfast, they would save prep time and have a nutritious meal.
Just found your videos. Thank you Universe! I was a successful weight loss/maintenance person. I’m vegan, did weight watchers, my fitness pal, (all for tracking) lift weights and walk, jog, elliptical. Family financial stress sent me spiraling and I became an emotional eater for the first time in my life! Ugh!! I barely exercise, still trying to increase from 3 days a week to 5, and get a grip on food. Your way is the way I USED to eat! I feel like I’m finding myself back to the former me by your inspiration. Thank you ✨😌✨
I've changed my behavior for breakfast and lunch so far. Oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder, flax seeds, soy milk, and berries has been my go to, and I feel satisfied until lunch. Today I just went for a bowl of sugary cereal, and I have been starving all day, even though I ate my normal lunch of veggies, tofu, and some grains. It's definitely noticeable that I didn't have a good breakfast! I'm starting to work on switching my dinners now to something more veggie filled. This is so helpful!
I love how your videos are science backed but you also provide clear and simple guidance. So glad I found you recently and love listening to you on the way to work! Really sets me up for my day 😊
I like the tips here and would add that eating a lot of fiber is great for your cardiovascular system too. I actually do well with intermittent fasting...BUT I skip dinner, not breakfast. For people who struggle with decision making, impulse control, fatigue, or feeling overwhelmed at the end of the day, skipping dinner can help avoid overeating (and the drinking that often goes with it) or making poor nutritional choices. No meal planning required at the end of a long work day, and no dishes to do either. I sleep better when I don't have a full stomach (eating dinner early doesn't usually work for me for a variety of reasons). I lost weight following your tips and also doing evening fasts about 4-5 days per week, which allows for some social eating in the evening. I realize, though, this doesn't always work for people with families who want dinner at night. I'd like to get back to doing that again after having my routine disrupted this year. Probably not too practical with the holidays approaching, but I could start with 2-3 nights. I don't know how anyone can skip breakfast!
Refrigeration AFTER cooking the initial time, to alter the starch to a resistant starch? Additional research indicated one needs must consume all potatoes EXCEPT russets COLD (as in potato salad) to attain this benefit....as REHEATING those cultivars reverts the starch back to a non resistant starch. Russets remain starch resistant AFTER reheating. Additionally, Japanese Purple-skinned "sweet potatoes" are puportedly the SOLE anti-inflamatory of all types of tubers: true potatoes, all sweet potatoes & yams.
Well…everything is relative. Los is g weight is not one fits all type of deal. Hormones, stress, anxiety issues etc are a huge factor in weight loss. This diet is not for everyone, I can’t eat that amount of raw veg. For me animal protein is key to satiate my hunger, as well as hard boil eggs, cheese and lots of cabbage (cooked). My diet is very simple, effective and easy to prepare, repetitive but it works for me! Also, I take magnesium and oregano oil, I sleep very well and my energy is to the roof! No aches and pains! I’m 66 yo female.
I know this is true, I did this after my 2 kids and this worked, now older I eat normal because I have a friend she was eating like this I she was getting all wrinkled, what happens is we need the protein of animal and fish, is very important at least 3 times a week.
Thank you for putting into words what I was already thinking about “the shot”. Because of your wisdom and willingness to share, you have helped me to better understand why it took me so long to feel full. Please keep up the good work.
I recently started doing 1 cup of oats instead of a 1/2 cup and have been cooking it on the stove top with grated Zucchini and a mashed banana mixed in and its been keeping me full for hours and I haven't felt as "snacky" in the evenings as usual. I will definitely start using the one about never go anywhere hungry that's somewhere I'd be tempted to eat the processed high calorie foods that other people are eating. Always love your videos and the way you explain things makes so much sense, thank you for all that you do ❤
I’ll def intentionally add more fiber to my breakfast from now on, stick to three wholesome meals a day and amp up my potato game! Thank you so much for all the info, the way you explain weight loss and maintenance is easy to understand and implement!
You are amazing! I love watching your videos ❤️ I did want to say that intermittent fasting is really more about autophagy and giving your body a break from breaking down food. You can also fast from lunch onward, it can be really flexible. It’s not for everyone but there are many many benefits of fasting, it’s not just for weight loss. ❤️
A really big thank you for your inspiring videos… having prepared veggies around changed my way of cooking and of snacking. Even my husband loves the dishes and always snacks from my bowls. What I currently like to eat when craving starts throughout the day are a slice of baked sweet potatoes with a tiny bit of joghurt, a slice of tomatoe and a leave of basil on top.
Another awesome, interesting & informative video from Chelsea. Even though I don't have diabetes I am interested in anything science related. Love 🥰 the video and love 💞 Chelsea.
I like a lot of your concepts here, but as a near 50yo who followed a diet like yours for 17 years before I was consumed with chronic health problems, I need to respectfully point out that this isn't necessarily a *health-sustaining* way of eating, especially in the long term. It may be a weight-sustaining way of eating in the beginning, but some of the foods and strategies you recommend are damaging to the gut, insulin system, kidneys and joints. I urge you to look into oxalates (in potatoes, sweet potatoes, beetroot, spinach/chard, almonds, nuts, seeds, bran, quinoa, chia, kiwifruit, feijoas, rhubarb, starfruit, dark chocolate/cacao etc etc) and what they can do to your gut, joints and kidneys in the long term. I personally now have chronic spine degeneration and debilitating arthritis, plus i have chronic gut problems, and was starting to get kidney problems when i discovered and cut out oxalates. The low oxalate diet is slowly reversing some of my symptoms, but others (like the arthritis and spine degeneration appear to be irreversible). I urge you not to suggest that people do everything they can to "avoid hunger" and not practice fasting. This can be dangerous advice for those with eating disorders, and it's a heavy burden to place on the stomach and glucose metabolism (Dr Jason Fung explains more about this), it can lead to insulin resistance, and aside from an that it didn't address those of us who eat too stuff down our emotions. We need to learn to embrace and accept hunger. Hunger is natural, and so much healing happens when you're hungry/fasting. I have personally practiced intermittent fasting for 7 years and found exactly the opposite if your quoted research studies (i would love to know who funded those studies BTW). My hunger REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY, i eat MUCH MUCH MUCH LESS than before i started fasting, and my insulin levels stabilised (previously i suffered from frequent and debilitating hypoglycemic episodes). Finally, myself and most of my friends when we were young, were all like you: vegans and vegetarians, all organic food, super-health conscious. I'm very disappointed to say that in our 40s and 50s most of us have suffered so badly, for so many decades, from extremely poor mental health, terrible gut health, and children with weak bodies and terrible teeth... So much so that many or most of us have sadly realised that vegan/vegetarianism may be MORALLY SUPERIOR, but physically and mentally detrimental. Particularly in these parts of the world where vegetarianism isn't our ancestral diet and where those foods vegetarians rely on aren't grown locally or available sustainably. Fruit isn't the answer either, due to the huge glucose and insulin spukes it provides 😓 Sent with love from someone who used to live in Ponsonby/Grey Lynn in the organic hub of Auckland, and who now lives on a lifestyle block further south, raising organic animals and low Oxalate fruits and veggies 💚🙏💖
Respectfully, I disagree with you. Dr Michael Greger has all the scientific and medical evidence on his website that proves whole food plant based diets are the healthiest and most sustainable way to liver longer. Perhaps your chronic illnesses are genetic, poor nutritional choices, deficient soil in your area? Or any other logical reason. Maybe you truly were vegetarian and still consumed animal products in the form of dairy and now are blaming the vegan diet? I think what Chelsea has to say is spot on and I encourage her to continue educating the masses.
@@jillponce7 i used to be like you, waving flags and telling everyone that vege/vegan is the best diet, because it's "proven" and "spiritually moral". If you read my comment again, you'll see I'm not just talking about myself, but every single one of my longterm (15+ years) either vege or vegan friends. EVERY ONE now has terrible chronic health and psychological problems. And their kids do too. How long have you been vegan? Please come back here when you've been 15-20 years vegan and then feel free to wave your flag. Science doesn't trump real life experience. There's PLENTY of things science doesn't know/understand, and can't measure. Plus scientific studies, statistics and journals are notoriously problematic and biased. That's why i said i would love to see the studies she's quoting here, how they were undertaken, and who funded them.
@@mystik.mermayde.aotearoa You said to come back when I’ve been whole food plant based for 15-20 years? Well here I am. It’s been 15.5 years and none of my plant based friends and family (here in the USA) have any of the issues that you and your friends and family are complaining about. I think there is something more to it. And just to be clear, vegan is not the same as whole food plant based. Vegans can eat processed junk food and call themselves vegan because there are no animal products in their foods. Those junk food vegans seem to carry the same illnesses that carnivores get, or anyone who eats chemicals and crap for food. Flag waving now.
@@mystik.mermayde.aotearoa if we’re just going on anecdotal evidence, then let me tell you, I have you beat. I’m healthy enough to be a kidney donor and part of a group of vegan kidney donors which means our health is so excellent that we were approved for an elective surgery to remove an organ. They do a LOT of testing, both psychological and physical prior to letting one donate. Even the National Kidney Foundation is pro-veggie diet because science shows that animal products are taking a toll on kidneys and kidney function declines more as people age who are eating animal products. I donated in 2013 and have been veggie much longer than that and vegan since before that. Any health issue I had, I had well before being veggie except for one issue, and that’s for certain not related to being vegan, in fact, they said it’s probably why I’m doing so well. The whole group of vegan kidney donors are doing exceptionally well. My husband, and identical twin, technically vegetarian but eats vegan 98% of the time, truly, has been veggie for decades as well and he’s so healthy and fit and the only one in his family not on statins and other meds, including his win brother, who is easily 100+ pounds heavier than him and already broke his hip and has so many health problems. They’re IDENTICAL TWINS. So, I don’t give anecdotal evidence much weight because there are always outliers and I look for peer reviewed, published studies. I worked at Harvard Medical School in medical education reform and I think good science is really important and would much rather have someone be influenced by real, tested data, than these few anecdotal stories but I also think these stories show real people along with a smattering of science thrown in since we know these people were thoroughly examined by multiple doctors and medical tests and what we know about identical twins so take what you will from this, but also know there’s plenty of scientific evidence to back it up.
I agree with you here. Intermittent fasting has huge benefits for the body. I generally love Chelsea’s advice but there are a lot of studies about IF that prove it is excellent for the body. However, someone should always consult their doctor (especially if they have a history of eating disorders) to make sure they are doing it in a healthy way.
Since I found you a couple of weeks ago, I have been eating tons more fruits and vegetables! I also used some of your ideas to "mathify" how I could be eating each day based on the differences in my schedule that impact my diet, and the difference now (versus aallll the other times I've tried to calorie count in the past) is that keeping to my calorie count feels so much easier! You're completely right that too many people, including too many "experts" in health and diet, seem to recommend tiny portions of everything, and who can keep to that? Lots of vegetables is 100% where it's at and I can't believe more people don't advocate for that!
Hi, I've brought the same broccoli 🥦 steamer as you...but I think I'm messing up the cooking times. I'm filling water to just below white rack, floor of rack covered in broccoli pieces...however I'm 🔥 burning the broccoli. How long do you cook yours for? Cheers
I eat oatmeal every morning but when I forget to make it ahead of time I go off plan. I just need to be disciplined to be sure I do it. Great video as I didn’t understand how those needles worked and what it does to your brain. You explained it perfectly. Thank you!
I'm enjoying your videos! I need to eat more of healthy foods, especially potatoes, and increase my fiber. And eat breakfast. Really, all 10 :) Loved the satiety scale!
I'm going to try adding potatoes to my meals. They do help me sleep better, I can say that for sure. But I avoid them as they are very high on the glycemic scale.
I've been implementing these tools and it's helping! The main problem for me is I am still tempted by foods even when I'm full. I crave the flavor in my mouth and/or the crunch of my favorite snacks so I keep eating even if my stomach is full. Haven't found a way to solve this issue yet.
I want to add more fiber, I used to eat some sort of legume everyday but for some mysterious reason stopped. Other than that , I’m completely on board with everything else! Thank you again
Do you have a recipe book, or one that you would recommend? Because your food looks amazing. Thats what I want to eat, but I have no idea how to cook or know what to put together.
I don't know if that information has ever been covered, but what is Chelsea's height? I'm just trying to figure out how different weight loss would look like on different bodies. 10 pounds for me looks vastly different on my 5'4" body than it does on my friend's 5'11" body.
Chelsea, I have followed you for quite a while. I think this is one of the best videos you have ever made (except your beautiful fam members are missing). So informative, so positive, as always, but I lived this one. Thanks for terrific reminders!
Hi Chelsea, Thank you for your videos. I have been looking to see if you have a video on your weightlifting journey but haven't found anything. Have you done something on lifting weights?
I just came across your video! I was on mounjaro, I could only do a week because of being so sick! I have Hashimoto disease and am pre diabetes. I was so disappointed that I couldn’t do the mounjaro as I am 30 lbs overweight. I will definitely give this a try. Thank you!
I just inquired about ozempic, but I’m not heavy enough, so was thinking the same as you! What if I just used fiber to feel full? Thank you for this video; jumping on the band wagon right away.
Dear Chelsea, I was finding it funny because I'm a fast eater, but since I started doing this kind of diet with lots of vegetables, I feel that it takes me ages to finish my food 😂 also, this reminds me that almost a year ago, I went to a endocrinologist because I thought that maybe it was my hormones that were preventing me from losing weight - which was not, by the way - and the doctor told me that she was not going to prescribe me the diabetes medication to lose weight, and I didn't even know that such a thing existed until that moment 🤣 anyway, I first saw your videos in the end of August and I even left a comment saying that I was going to give your diet a try, and now, not even two months later, I've already lost 9 pounds. This really works for me unlike other duets, because I'm not one of those ladies who are ok with a little salad for lunch. I actually eat. So, thank you so much for sharing all of this with us. And now I could go to that idiotic doctor and tell her that I don't need to take away the medication from diabetic people because the way I eat covers that effect ❤
Love this video. Very informative. Do you have any videos or thoughts on Intermittent Fasting and how in the long term it affects the hunger and satiety cues? You briefly mentioned that in this video, but can you expand on that please?
Why haven't I heard if you before now! Everything you said makes sense. I love veg and legumes, eating them at every dinner. So am excited to add potato! Will also modify my other meals to suit eating on the run. Thank you very much.
I'm an intermittent faster and was losing weight for 4 months but find it harder now. I did not go full Keto but was restricting carbs, sweet fruit, starchy veg like potatoes. So what I will try is getting back to apples, oranges and pears and not be afraid of potatoes.
Maybe this works for young people who don't yet have any blood sugar issues, but very high carb foods like potatoes and oats spike your blood sugar so fast that they leave you starving when it drops! There is another influencer who is a certified nutritionist and focuses on satiety and unprocessed food too but from a low carb approach. Find her.
Curious, how tall are you Chelsea? My oldest is also a Chelsea, we call her Chels😊 Love the way you explained this, it's very good! I went on a Japanese sweet potato hunt after i first see your channel lol.. I'm in northern California, found some at an Asian market lol....
I am Type 1 diabetic, can I still be eating potatoes in abundance or is there is something else I can do. Grains do raise my blood sugar. I just want to lose weight and keep it off. I have an insulin pump. Just a question. I love everything you are saying, I love potatoes. I can eat them but watch my sugar or if not I have to pump in, bolus in insulin. Thank you
This is amazing. I can't wait to start! I have an unfortunate habit to want to late snack. What can I eat an hour or so before bed that will satisfy but not worsen my diet?
What if you don't usually eat because you are hungry, but for other reasons? Also, the willpower it takes to only eat the way you eat is enormous! The processed foods do something that makes them almost impossible to avoid. Just for me. I am vegan but eat a ton of "junk" vegan foods. 😥
Love this video. As a former Ozempic user I’d like to weigh in. Hi. Can I ask how long you tried the Ozempic before having to give it up?
@ I was on it for 6 months. I did lose 20 lbs but had constant nausea. It was awful.
Thanks for your comment. The more you know about a drug, the better.
Drug equals some danger. Fibre equals safe option. Keep going. 👍
Me too went vegan! I am actually getting more protein more energy and the weight has finally shifted 😅
Best thing I ever did was reading the book Woman’s weight loss secrets: the unspoken truth, after applying the knowledge I got from the book I feel like the cellulite is magically disappearing from my body
Can you tell us the authors name please?

@missygee6155 yup!! The struggle! And I always crave something sweet immediately after eating a meal
Yes I’m the same, as long as I wait till after 11-30 to eat I’m not eating non stop, if I eat before that I’m eating all day long

Fruit isn't the answer either, due to the huge glucose and insulin spukes it provides 😓
Sent with love from someone who used to live in Ponsonby/Grey Lynn in the organic hub of Auckland, and who now lives on a lifestyle block further south, raising organic animals and low Oxalate fruits and veggies 💚🙏💖
Hello from Idaho !!!! I love listening to you every morning and you give me lots of motivation that I can do this!!! Thank you !
Absolutely love this video! Thank you! You look great ! Healthy and Fit!
Thank you!
Great video. Wonderful ideas. Love to implement these ideas.
Great video thank you! Do you have recipes for desserts?
I'm enjoying your videos! I need to eat more of healthy foods, especially potatoes, and increase my fiber. And eat breakfast. Really, all 10 :) Loved the satiety scale!
Great information! Thank you so much!! I'm going to practice eatling more slowly.
Great information. Thank you.
I'm going to try adding potatoes to my meals. They do help me sleep better, I can say that for sure. But I avoid them as they are very high on the glycemic scale.
Great video! Watched while eating my salad and baked potato ❤
what are the best potatoes and how should they be cooked?
I've been implementing these tools and it's helping! The main problem for me is I am still tempted by foods even when I'm full. I crave the flavor in my mouth and/or the crunch of my favorite snacks so I keep eating even if my stomach is full. Haven't found a way to solve this issue yet.
Great content. Thank you!
Useful information. Thank you for posting.
Your diwt makes sense and I like how you disnt foxus on what NOT to eat, but on what TO eat.
Working on consistently eating oats and fruit for breakfast. ❤
I've found green apples work amazing in the morning for me.
Usually I go for a oat meal 😁
I have a 3 tiered steamer so I steam heaps of veges... when I feel like a " baked" vege I warm a portion up in my air fryer to brown. ❤
Absolutely great video thank you so much I just subscribed to your Channel!!!☺️
I do this. My downfall is thinking I want a sweet snack after each meal. Gotta bust this sugar craving.
Just eat some low calorie fruit instead. Eventually, the fruit begins to taste like sweets.
You are a great resource! Thank you!
Adding legumes can do much the same as the drugs
Great explanation on how to change your out come with food.
I’m super interested in how our bodies use foods eaten at different times differently! Could you link a study?
Why haven't I heard if you before now! Everything you said makes sense. I love veg and legumes, eating them at every dinner.
So am excited to add potato! Will also modify my other meals to suit eating on the run. Thank you very much.
Great info!❤
❤ your videos! I’m gonna focus on breakfast 😊
Wow, you make such sense! Thank you
Thanks about breakfast explanation. Its true if not eating in morning, at evening all what I can think of is something calorie dense...
I will eat breakfast even though I’m not hungry!! ❤
I'm an intermittent faster and was losing weight for 4 months but find it harder now. I did not go full Keto but was restricting carbs, sweet fruit, starchy veg like potatoes. So what I will try is getting back to apples, oranges and pears and not be afraid of potatoes.
Brilliant as always!🎉🎉 come on 100,000 subs🎉🎉🎉
Maybe this works for young people who don't yet have any blood sugar issues, but very high carb foods like potatoes and oats spike your blood sugar so fast that they leave you starving when it drops!
There is another influencer who is a certified nutritionist and focuses on satiety and unprocessed food too but from a low carb approach. Find her.
I'm five foot 2 and I'm struggling to stick to 1200 calories :/ I keep eating 1500 and stalling my weightloss... I'll use your tips!
Curious, how tall are you Chelsea? My oldest is also a Chelsea, we call her Chels😊
Love the way you explained this, it's very good! I went on a Japanese sweet potato hunt after i first see your channel lol.. I'm in northern California, found some at an Asian market lol....
💚 I think all of my calories come from sauces because I like everything I eat to have sauce on it because it gives it flavor.
Plantiful Kiki has a ton of low fat, high fiber sauces on her channel/website... I put her ' cheese sauce ' on everything!
Great vid ! Your accent is so cute! Love from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤
Thank you
Such a great Video 🎉
This is amazing. I can't wait to start! I have an unfortunate habit to want to late snack. What can I eat an hour or so before bed that will satisfy but not worsen my diet?
Awesome thanks!
Can u show how you make these meals please?
Dont we need protein? How much protein do you suggest per meal and per day?
There’s plenty of protein in tofu, other legumes, and plants.
Your protein needs are based entirely on your size, activity levels and goals.
Thank you!
I could literally eat boiled potatoes until I die. I don’t think potatoes are an effective method of calorie control.
What are all your go to high fiber veg besides brocc cauli and potatoes?
Beans, ftw
@@i2sky532
Yes! Fiber and protein and healthy carbs all in beans.
What if you don't usually eat because you are hungry, but for other reasons? Also, the willpower it takes to only eat the way you eat is enormous! The processed foods do something that makes them almost impossible to avoid. Just for me. I am vegan but eat a ton of "junk" vegan foods. 😥
Same.
Glad I found you. Thank you.
What about sweet potatoes?
Great video….im already eating a ton of veggies….but will eat more potatoes!
I believe you’re so very right! Stir fry dishes are the best. Keeps you regulated….
So just eat fruit and vegetables and plenty of fiber?
What do you think of the carnivore diet?
Thank you for your videos❤
hi how do you cook the potatoes please ❤
