For me, I am focusing on the input rather than the outcome. I was in the hospital in March and have lost 40 pounds since then but have 40 to 50 pounds left to lose. The thing is, I had been working a fulltime job plus doing end of life elder-care for the past few years. My relative passed away and I started walking 7 days ago and was really discouraged already that it didn't take even an ounce off this week as if working hard didn't matter. But I came here already self-talking myself that I can't look at the results or I will stop and it can't work if I don't actually do it. Your video reinforced what I was already needing to say to myself.

I LOVE this video, shared it with my daughter who hates on herself so much and sees herself as a failure who can't "get it together like everyone else can"
My struggle is so real right now. Weight has been shifty, joints are hurting like crazy and I’m binge eating so bad! I’m starting to workout again. I’ve had several people make fun of me with how much I eat and weigh. It’s crushing my spirit. I already don’t want to be around anyone as it is because I’m insecure and think people are judging how I look and what I say. Trying to get my dr to order autoimmune bloodwork. It’s crazy because ever since o turned 40, struggling with my weight has been so real!
I hope you have had success since you posted this a while ago. I'm 56 and can assure you that getting healthier is possible. Find a supportive group that aren't jerks like the ones you've described. What they think or say is irrelevant. This is about you, not them, when all is said and done. You can do this! 😊
I've stopped trying to make perfect decisions. And it's only been 1 month but it's been working really well for me. I started the month with trying to fast for 18-20 hours per day and eat 1-2 Keto meals. That only lasted for 2 weeks. Historically, I would just give up and go back to binge eating. But instead I said "Okay, let's keep fasting at least 14 hours a day and try to choose lower carb options when we can." And I've been consistent with that for the rest of the month. Dresses I couldn't fit in July now fit and I'm so excited to keep going.
The one thing that made the biggest change in my life was convincing myself slowly that I am the person that makes the healthy decisions and that the unhealthy behaviour is the abnormal, so if I did go out for drinks and wings or something it’s easy to fall back into normal healthy behaviour, the health behaviour isn’t something I HAVE to do
I too love your pep talks! I’ve been mostly wfpb, 100% vegan for almost 4 years and I can’t believe I’ve never done something you suggested, I don’t always have one particular meal in my kitchen. You said yours is sweet potato, broccoli and tofu. I don’t know what mine is but I’m going to figure it out and start that habit. I feel like…duh why didn’t I think of that. Thank you Chelsea!
This was really inspiring, thank you! Thanks to you, I almost always have cooked potates in my fridge and that is my go-to-snack with some sea salt on it. And I can never get tired of it. 🙂
I forgot to mention that I’m also going to try your tip on allowing myself to have a vegan treat but waiting a little while. I’ve never done that but I feel like it will totally work 😊. Thanks again!
I enjoy watching your videos. I like that you’re realistic and down to earth. I’m wondering how you get enough protein in your diet, as I often see you focusing mainly on vegetables. I enjoy eating lots of veggies but feel like I struggle to get enough protein every day.
Firstly I really love what you are saying in this video it makes sense. But just as a suggestion some feedback I found it really hard to digest what you were saying because I found you spoke too quickly and it didn’t give me time to comprehend what you were saying which I really wanted to do. This would be great in 2 parts because there is a lot to unpack here and I really wanted to unpack it as I feel there is a lot of useful information for me to digest. If you get a chance at some point it would be good to rework this into 2 parts. Thanks for posting I’ve subscribed to your channel it’s not often these days to find genuinely useful content on TH-cam. 👏👍
I recommend you save this video and listen again and as many times as needed or as inspired - it will soak in. I also will sometimes pause and repeat as I take notes when I really want to learn something from a video.
Hey Chelsea! I'm back to WFPB diet after several years of f-it and winging it. Whiiiicch resulted in the predictable. 😅 Just want to acknowledge your commitment to staying true to the WFPB lifestyle and helping people! Very proud of your evolution with your content and message. Many blessings to you and family! 💜💜
Appreciate most of the tips and it’s rare to find one that’s about behavioural change, which is so important because often the biggest obstacle is building the right habits and keeping it sustainable, which essentially means changing our behaviours. But one suggestion is that I won’t encourage weighing yourself everyday… I used to do that and on bad days it pains me even more to see the scale going up when I’ve done everything on the checklist. When it’s the time of the month for example, the scale is definitely not indicative of your “performance”. I’ll suggest not going on the scale if you’ve been pretty negative that whole day or there’s something stressful that’s happening. Do weigh yourself once in a week/fortnightly and definitely reward yourself by tracking your workouts, but be gentle on yourself when you go on the scale. If you feel like you don’t have the capacity in you to be kind to yourself that day, then don’t go on the scale.
I reckon the best way to lose weight is to find ways to make healthy food and drink really delicious. To find ways to make exercise really enjoyable. And to find ways to make going to bed early really attractive.
I couldn’t and still can’t bear to get on the scales for a long time, thinking I’ll just watch what I eat and go by how well my clothes fit. Well they are still tight! Recently I did my waist measurement and was shocked. I began counting calories (not everyday but most) and now lost 3 cm in a few weeks. I will continue doing waist measurements for now, and keeping track of macros. I aim to do 1-2 days of PSMF per week, and have reduced calories the other days. I am a bit more slack on weekends with the calorie tracking so that’s another goal I’m working on. Also the only exercise I can enjoy for now is walking, so I go on big walks every couple days (6 km) with the dog. Just got hit with a cold but went for a shorter walk yesterday out in the sun.
The advice to speak kindly and encouragingly to myself is very compelling. I frequently find myself being a harsh self-critic, but since I became vegan a couple of months ago I am learning to feel more positive. For example, even if I only lose a pound or even half a pound at my weekly weigh-in, I remind myself that I am going in the right direction. Obviously I would like to lose more, but a little is preferable to nothing. Weight plateaus can be somewhat disheartening, but they are useful because they lead you to question whether you need to make tweaks - perhaps by more disciplined and careful portion control. or perhaps by more walking, or a small increase in strength exercise such as with dumbells. This video is a timely reminder that the strategy for improved health and for weight loss is as much mental as it is physical. The mind and the body are distinct, but certainly not separate. When they work in unison they are mutually rewarding! Thank you Chelsea Mae. By the way, are you an Aussie?
Thank you so much for this wonderful talk :) I found it very helpful - and I will now invest in a scale! Never owned one because I genuinely thought it would just make it worse! Also subscribed for more of your wholesome content. Have a lovely weekend, Chelsea! Stay fit, strong and most importantly; healthy! :)
the scale theory is beyond true. I stopped using a scale and going by the way I "look" little did I realize I gained 40ish lbs! I train religiously I was so upsetttt lol. I am getting back on track.
but muscle weighs more than fat. Based on the fact you were training, that’s most likely what it was! I personally believe there’s no problem going by how you look and feel
@@glasshalffull1992 yeah it does for sure but by some point it had to be fat as well and it just was more bulky than how I wanted to look, more so I wanted my muscles to show because I'm working soooo hard for them
@@glasshalffull1992 also if you look good to yourself I see no issue with this either! I Personally noticed I was a lot bigger in certain regions haha.
I can really attest to that this time thing works, for me it did wonders against my food noise. Along with telling myself that all the unhealthy things I'm craving, will still exist later, (or tomorrow, or next year). The removal of urgency from eating is so freeing Something to mention is also that if one eats emotionally, it is essential to find healthy psychological coping mechanisms and strategies. Willpower can only hold you for so long, you need to substitute unhealthy coping mechanisms for healthy ones as soon as possible 🧘♀️
For me, rewarding versus punishing, creating a core meal (or three core meals) to get into an automated groove, and viewing mistakes as data are good places to start. I always view my weight on the scale as data (I don't have much of an emotional attachment to it) but I do feel kind of bad when I eat the 'wrong' thing, so viewing that as mere data, too, should be very helpful. Many thanks again for another great video.
I have been trying to lose weight for so long I am beginning to believe that I will never get to something comfortable. But you are much younger than me and I have already gone into menopause and that is a factor. Good luck.
This is just thee best and most helpful "talk" on how to effect true change and achieve weight loss and so much more. I will enter my 7th decade this coming March, 2025. My grandmother started me on the dieting yo yo wagon when I was 13 years old. WHAT a hamster wheel I have been on ever since. Grapefruit diets, STARVATION DIETs (designed K& implemented by ...ME) all of which has led to contracting T2D and a plethora of other medical/physical issues. I feel like I have been at war with me for ALL these past decades. I ALSO feel like I just found the help that is going to help me win the whole damn war and every battle in between THANK YOU for this video.
I was on my way to the shop to get some junk snacks and just put on this video while I was putting my shoes on. I just had a healthy snack and on my way to get some veg
Most of these points are really helpful. Especially the one to wait 10 minutes to stop impulsive eating. The only point I found less helpful was the first one and then I don't mean the fridge full of vegetables part, cuz that's great, but the cutting part. The vegetables will stay fresh a lot longer when you don't cut them. Though, I started growing my own salad, tomatoes, herbs and some other easy vegetables like lettuce, and that's what helped me a lot, which is kinda similar to the point you were making. I only have to walk 4 steps to cut some leaves off and then it's ready to eat 😊
Very true! Not always, but in some cases, I would have just 1 pizza slice or 10 fries with lots of veggies. And sticking to meals or ingredients you love and could eat every single day.
Food for thought do you eat your broccoli before your sweet potato or inbetween or after❤ loved this you rock it Chelsea and you have really great valid points 😊
I would love to hear an entire video of your deep dive into each of these, giving numerous examples, etc. But the one idea that stood out the most for me was the positive spin to the negative thoughts. I NEED to hear more examples of this. How do you turn around the "I feel fat in this dress" kind of negative thoughts? Just an example, but I know we all have hundreds of examples.
I’m only at tip one and already chiming in to comment 😂 and I agree that we should give ourselves easy healthy options, at the same time I’m the person that has a drawer with chocolates, that I got mostly as gifts, that I hardly touch and don’t really think to eat but I know it’s there and I have the option to eat some whenever I want to spend my calories on chocolates and not the delicious fruit currently in season. But as soon as I stay over somewhere else, I want a chocolate or a sweet or something, it’s so strange to me
Let me know which of these 8 tools you're most likely to implement?
Food prep. I do not enjoy time in the kitchen, so getting stuff prepared and ready to go really helps me eat according to plan. More likely to 😂

The steering wheel idea is correct.
This is all so genius - thanks for sharing!!!
I thought what you shared in this video was very helpful. Thank you.
This was excellent!!! So many gems!!!
I can really attest to that this time thing works, for me it did wonders against my food noise. Along with telling myself that all the unhealthy things I'm craving, will still exist later, (or tomorrow, or next year). The removal of urgency from eating is so freeing
Something to mention is also that if one eats emotionally, it is essential to find healthy psychological coping mechanisms and strategies.
Awesome tips!!! Just subscribed
I have been trying to lose weight for so long I am beginning to believe that I will never get to something comfortable. But you are much younger than me and I have already gone into menopause and that is a factor. Good luck.
A factor doesn't mean it's impossible. I dunno how wise, in terms of health, weight loss aside, it would be to look into hormone treatment.
Thank you! So much for this video 🎉❤
Thanks, this video is so helpful and these tips would help in any area of your life you wanted to improve or change.
Great tips! Thank you!
You should write a book❤
That’s the goal. Now to just use all these little hacks to actually impliment
Great video, great info!
The fact that nobody talks about the book Woman’s weight loss secrets: the unspoken truth, speaks volumes about how people are stuck in a trance
Please stop commenting this misleading ad on every insightful video

Another great video, thank you! I’m going to figure out an “Oh Crap” plan, sounds like something I could use
Some very good points. 🙂
You’re soooo smart girl!
I love # 6. See your behaviour on a steering wheel rather than a dart 🎯 board.
im going to watch my language and change to more posative talk. thank you for this video its really helpped me x
Great message
Amazing and to the point. Thank you.
🙏🙏🙏
Love your dartboard analogy. 🎯
Great video, thanks
Great video! 🦋🩵
Love these tips and your deltoids are goals😍
New sub! Yay!
What a good video!!
I’m experienced and knowledgeable but I found it helpful 😊
I’m only at tip one and already chiming in to comment 😂 and I agree that we should give ourselves easy healthy options, at the same time I’m the person that has a drawer with chocolates, that I got mostly as gifts, that I hardly touch and don’t really think to eat but I know it’s there and I have the option to eat some whenever I want to spend my calories on chocolates and not the delicious fruit currently in season. But as soon as I stay over somewhere else, I want a chocolate or a sweet or something, it’s so strange to me
