I can't get it to work on shape layers..? It works when I use vector shapes. But I see in this tutorial that you're working with shape layers, so I'm a bit confused now..?
Makes zero difference for me, regardless of value. I placed it above CC Bend, start and end points are in place, but sill Grow Bounds doesnt affect my layer at all.

It doesn't work if you're continuously rasterizing your layers. You also need to make sure you place the effect _above_ the CC Bend It effect.
Had the same problem. You have to add the expression "toComp(value)" to start and end point. Then it will work!
