    daaaaaamn. this was EXACTLY what I was looking for. started a quick google search after a client requested sth like this, and amids all the laughable "buy trapcode" suggestions, low-key "let me just show you how I do all this by simply using the app properly" Michael appears and saves the day 😂🙀🥳 thanks man, super smart solution for a super simple problem

    Hi Michael,
    I came across the "3D Shapes with Shape Layers" video because TH-cam suggested it. Thinking "Oh, that sounds interesting, probably a better solution than what I'm doing, when I need it."
    Your content blew me away! not just the "move points of a shape in 3D space", but the little things you throw in "as garnish" that are real game changers! the simple but brilliant neon glow? put the trim path below the wiggle?
    you are AWESOME and I'm very grateful for your knowledge sharing 🙏 thank you!

      Hi 👋. I’m honestly not sure what exactly happens. After all its just fake 3D, the 3D coordinates projected to 2D space for the shape layer. Possible Workaround: You could split the shape layers or make them invisible when they are out of frame.

      Hey. I don’t think I’ll go back. Maybe when I don’t get any offers anymore. Which was nearly the case in the beginning of Covid. Maybe the pressure is higher as a freelancer but it’s worth the freedom. I like to work in a team but as soon as I have social issues with some guys or my boss it would be the hell for me. Of course you have also difficult clients. I don’t say ‘f*** off’ to them. I try to finish all my projects but I like the freedom to tell him that I don’t have time for him anymore the next time he wants to hire me 😂

    is it possible to put any png image around the tweaked line to make it feel real 3d
    like I want the line to run around my png is that possible?

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much 😊. Do you mean the line wraps around your PNG. It’s a 2D layer after all. So you have to use masking tricks to convey the illusion that the line goes behind your PNG.
      Or do you mean your png bends along the line? This would be impossible in AE but achievable in Blender or C4D

      Sure, you can copy the path in AI and paste it into the Shape Layers Path attribute. From here you can procede with my technique. I recommend it only if your SVG consists of a few paths. Would be tedious to process a lot of paths and the resulting Null Layers 😊
