"I need humans" could be translated into "I need people", and with the context of the song it would mean something like "I need people to notice me". The collar is a methaphor for a neglected child wanting to be appreciated by her parents and others, as the narrator feels outshined by her younger sibling :(

aight so here is my interpretation of the song. I don't think it's just a yandere song or just about a neglected child.
First part is a child wanting to be loved by her parents. Anything she does never seems enough, making her go through ridiculous standards just to get some praise from her parents. She then becomes the number one in class, with people admiring her, giving her attention, whether its teachers or classmates. She achieves perfection in her standard and all the others are seen lower as her in her eyes. Still the attention is not enough. She then falls in love with someone she deems as "imperfect and filthy". All her life, all she desperately wanted was to be loved. There's something that someone has done for her to be obsessed, whether it was an act of kindness or something else. She confesses to him at the gym. Based on what follows afterwards, I think she got rejected. It's probably because she came off too strong making her seem obsessed, or he just didn't share the same feelings. That's why she still wants to be close even though it hurts for her.

Dude 100% with you on this. I'm hanging out with MJ atm and because of my heightened awareness I literally hear the creepy intent with the sadistically lovey tone she's putting into her inflections. It felt like a tickling in my ear so real I was almost locked in place by that child-like fear you'd once get from a slasher film.
Then when she hit those "aaaaaaaah"s I was blown away and was hoping people would be reacting to this video because the overall performance is spectacular. Even her body language was on point

What people are getting wrong is that its not "yandere song" /or/ "kid crying for parents love" its both. she is neglected and abused by her parents and gains a complex/ego and seeks attention else where, which are the people from her school. Which explains the confession chorus as she turns to us(or whoever she is referring to) to take all of her problems and obsession and affection, using us as an outlet for her, which us why she apologizes, knowing what shes doing is wrong but she cant control it anymore.
