There are small companies but those are typically hairstylist and wig makers who give that money and collect that hair in person and thats a small tiny handful of people. Unless you buy from a temple from a middle person but those are all above the table. Typically not from china.
Unless you go to the country where the hair is sourced and buy it off a person's head than it is usually unethical in some way, number 1 it would be very expensive to buy European hair, especially blondes or redheads,I mean 4000.00 dollars for only the hair expensive and many times more than that, and then you must consider the expense of hand knotting a wig,China got into huge trouble for selling hand knotting done by children.Think the cost of a hyper realistic toupee and not just a hairline,I have been a hair stylist for 30 years and my next door neighbor who was a holocaust survivor taught me and her granddaughter to make wigs when we were both around 11,trust me most of them are not ethical most forget about the hand-tied front that can take two weeks or longer if it is a full-lace.Be it no illusion these are luxury wigs.
Unfortunately there is no regulation for that anywhere in the world so there is no way to know for sure, and let's be honest, knowing how profit is valued more than the well-being of people most of the time it will not be ethically sourced.
Most people miss the point, those women are not wearing wigs for style or art! They’re wearing them to be “modest” for their husbands because their hair is only him to see. If I were Jewish, my husband will NEVER see my hair!
The sheitels looks amazing. I love the idea of a kosher wig for Jewish women. What a beautiful religion and the human hair wigs seem to be high quality.
We Indians love Jewish ppl. Wonderful ppl. We are not offended by the fact they don't use idol worship hair either though in India Hinduism does support idol worship. To each their own. But with the idol worship hair u can be very sure it's ethically sourced, especially from tirupathi temple. Alas from China.. Its tough to check.
The Jewish religion is literally filled with passages where God sanctions genocide, genital mutilation, unethical slaughter methods, slavery, incest, forced marriage, and rape. It's violent, just like most Abrahamic faiths are.
You're incredibly talented! I wear tichels, but I do have a synthetic hair sheitel (it looks very real, though. I can fool anyone who isn't super familiar with wigs) for rare occasions when a scarf might not be the best option. I unfortunately don't know where to find a sheitel stylist, though, so I have to maintain it myself.
Same. I just can't. It makes no logical sense..cover your own hair, its for your husband but this other woman's hair thats made to look as natural as possible like your own hair can be shown..wut..typical weird religious loopholes
@@Lia-hd7rh great question, I’ll explain to the best of my ability: the reason religious Jewish women cover their hair after marriage doesn’t have anything to do with beauty / subtracting from the woman’s original natural beauty, in an effort to “ward off” other men. If anything , like you guys have aptly pointed out, wearing lace top wigs that look like their coming out of your head and are gorgeous only ADD to one’s beauty. So why do they wear them in the first place? Answer: because hair covering is about so much more than “for the husband”- Kabbalah (mystical law) tells us that (as we know scientifically), each strand of hair is actually hollow- and that after marriage, each of those strands of hair are blessed with lots and lots of brochos- blessings for the woman and her family. By covering up one’s hair, they are retaining that multitude of bounty from Hashem (God). I’m aware that this is an extremely lofty concept, and women who cover their hair post-marriage do so on their own terms(as this shaitel macher/wig seller stated, everyone covers their hair how THEY want to- either they wear a scarf, take some bangs out to make it look more natural. To each their own). Obviously no one’s forced to do it- I’d say 99% of orthodox Jewish women cover their hair because they see the tangible blessing it brings to their home. If you have any other questions please feel free
@@Lia-hd7rh Some mitzvos are called Chukim and deliberately don't 'make sense'. Just for the principle of obedience. It's called Accepting the Yoke of Authority/Kingdom of Heaven.

Although I don’t like how a women is being told to cover her hair based off modesty for your husband is double standard to me. But I grew up in a town called Cleveland Heights and it’s a very large Jewish community. And the males cover there hair also, which is wonderful Jewish religion seems very well balanced to me. The wigs are so beautiful ❤️
When she talks about the hair being Kosher, she’s referring to the fact that a lot of the human hair trade comes from Hindu temples where devotees cut their hair. It’s consensual, ethical and reliable. If her hair supply isn’t coming from there, where is she getting it from? Can she guarantee her suppliers are ethical?
the women who tonsure their hair don't normally get paid though. I'm not sure it is a fair exchange? really open to exploitation when it's normally rural women who travel hundreds of miles to donate their hair as a holy rite in the hope their prayers will be answered and then their donation is capitalised
@@ciaolife You speak from the point of aethiests. It's not just women but men also shave their heads or donate hair. The temple money is used to feed many ppl for free and use the money to give free religious studies. U look at it as capitalism. It is not. Also the giving up of hair is usually done only when the wish is fulfilled. If it's not then they won't give it up.
She feels the hair is “Kosher” or somehow better coming from likely an unregulated black market in China, than a country where the hair is ethically source but for a religious practice reduced to “idol worship.” In my opinion, her entire message was spoiled by that one comment. It was disrespectful and bigoted towards another religion, and spoken during a segment on religion -oh the irony!

Yep, and thank goodness other women don’t share in their beliefs or they wouldn’t have their hair to wear. Macys in NY had a wig salon (probably due to the large Jewish clientele), not sure if they still have it. Good for her for her business. However, it bothers me how most religions create so many rules and regulations for women. Men never have to sacrifice this much. Religions created by men, to restrict women.

It’s amazing to see her passion and talent. And doing something she clearly loves. But I don’t really understand covering your hair to be modest with someone else’s hair…so that you can be fashionable and beautiful? It seems to me to be a contradiction.
Happy to explain! As they say in the video, once the woman is married, her hair is a private thing. So she covers it. So let me ask you this... you probably don't walk around with your maracas out in the open, correct? Lol. Most of us don't! But would that stop you from wearing a beautiful top? Nah. This concept just adds something new to the parts of her body that are deemed private within Jewish law. People get very stuck on the word modesty, but this isn't even quite the concept- it's more about what's private and what's not. Hoping that clears it up!
@@TaliaGSings But the top you wear isn't a reproduction or something that imitates the body parts that it covers, if that's the reasoning shouldn't they wear hats?
@@TaliaGSingsMa’am I can’t believe you compared breasts and vaginas which are private parts to some extent , to covering hair. Most of them actually do fully cover up. This specific video is just about the hair. I'm culturally Jewish (even though I don't practice Judaism. We're a people, not just a religion), so I know quite a bit about the practices.
So from what I know most “real human hair” wigs in urban salons get their hair from India. Indian religions have some rituals where a woman shaves her head. Then the Hindu temple gathers and sells the hair to the West. The Jewish lady in the video specifically mentioned they get their hair from China. I’m not exactly sure why the Chinese women shave their heads but they will generally not be doing it in a ritual fashion. It might actually ironically be from the Uighur Muslim women in concentration camps as well as the communist women who are poorly behaved so they get sent to basically a gulag but it’s called “vocational schooling”. Also a lot of poor Russian women will specifically grow and shave their heads for sale because their blonde hair is very coveted by certain types of people. The whole industry of real human hair wigs is kind of messed up in many ways.
@@Treesinthewind414 Oh, no. The hair sewn into kosher Jewish wigs is meticulously sourced and traced and supervised. And a kosher tag is sewn into the wig. Like kosher food is sourced and traced by supervising Rabbis. (Not accepting Indian Remy hair from Hindu females, who ritually donate their hair to their Hindu 'divinities'. And the Hindu priests then sell the donated hair to Chinese wig companies) That's why Jewish wigs are more expensive. The Jewish companies usually buy their hair from Brazil/South America, or Russia/Eastern Europe. The owners examine and often reject hair that doesn't meet their standards.
Judaism recognizes the differences between men and women. Each gender is special and has their unique commandments in addition to the commandments given to both genders 😇

I’m the only one who should be able to see my own hair!😂😂 Let’s keep this shit going.

modesty in dress is recommended but salvation doesn't depend merely on your dress & hair style. Your salvation depends on your beliefs, intentions & your actions therefore it is absolutely necessary for salvation that one should exit from world with truth & clear consciousness
Modesty is bullshit. Every Religion and culture has different Standards, there is no logic to whats modest in your gods eyes. Is wearing Sandals modest or not. Whats immodest about collarbones, knees, hair or a a naked shoulder? There are so many Rules in every religious Text that tells you "if you do that and wear that" heaven is not attainable for you. "Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness-with good works." why brother with modesty if it's all lost as soon as you put a braid in your hair or wear your engagement ring.

Modesty in Judaism isn’t just about dress, that’s just a fraction of it. Modesty also means how a person acts in public, not making themselves the center of attention and acting out in public.
Ministry college students here, salvation isn't gained or dependent on your actions, or intentions. It is given to you when Jesus died on the cross. You can either accept Him and accept salvation or you can reject Him and reject salvation. The Bible does not state that salvation depend on good works. These lush, long wigs make many women look more attractive than their natural hair would. So they attract more male attention, what's the point? A woman is exposed to much more of a male gaze wearing such wig.
its not about looking ugly or deterring men, its simply about modesty and being private. think almost of a wedding band, it shows ur dedication to your marrage and your privacy and intamacy.
I wish they were synthetic wigs simply because the human hair trade is woefully unethical, especially when the hair comes from Asia. I have a handful of wigs. I'm not Jewish. But, I love fun colors and have jet black Asian hair which is nearly impossible to bleach. Synthetic wigs look great and don't cost THOUSANDS of dollars.
If I had to wear a wig all day, every day, in the public domain, I'd want a natural hair piece. I bought a kanekalon wig to wear for when my alopecia caused by lupus gets really bad. I dread wearing it; it's so hot and so heavy that it gives me migraines and it's not even that thick. I'd love to be able to afford a natural hair piece. Some Orthodox Jews have both, but the vast majority prefer a natural hair piece. It will become part of the earth over time; a synthetic one will not.
Born and raised in NYC here so I know some orthodox Jews. I don’t think most of their wives were wearing wigs. Interesting video tho Cheers from San Diego California
Speaking as an Orthodox Jew-it depends on how observant people are and also what sect of Judaism someone is from. So, for example, there are Orthodox Jews who cover their hair with a headband, with a hat, with a wig, with a mitpachat (a cloth that you wrap your hair into), and some who don't cover their hair at all.
You actually can't tell that Tallie is wearing a wig. But for a lot of them, it's obvious and looks odd. Like if they try to go red or blonde or something and it looks way too volumous
Instead of cutting out wefts why don’t thin out the sides with thinning shear so it’s thinner but doesn’t need to cut out wefts by losing hair iso it doesn’t lose the parts close to the roots and keep it staying smooth on the head?
I find that the term “idol worship” has negative connotations. Please do not reduce one of the oldest belief systems in the world to idol worship nor disrespect an ancient ritual meant to demonstrate humility. Hair is an important symbol of feminine beauty and fertility in Hinduism, not to dissimilar to your belief in Judaism. That Hindu women are willing to part with it, not merely cover it, shows the magnitude of their devotion to their religion.
“Idolatry is the worship of an idol or idols-objects or images, such as statues, that are worshipped as the representations of deities or gods” Idol worship is what it is. People who practice it should stand by it’s definition. To each their own:) Why would you think it’s wrong to call it what it is? Hindus worship idols (as an example) why pretend otherwise or be ashamed of it?🤔
each religion has it's own standards, your religious views and practices are not always going to be shared by followers of other religions, it is what it is
It’s actually intentional with the majority of women who are Chasidic (though there are definitely Orthodox who are ok with it looking natural) but it’s sort of saying “yes I am covering” as opposed to the possibility of it potentially being one’s actual hair
With the skill set and ability to create a wig, I don't understand why a woman can't provide her own hair initially if they are required to shave. Does she support these women? Sourcing from China, I fear it's purchase from those in need or after they passed. I also wonder if she helps those going through cancer. I donated mine to a charity many years ago.
From what others have said she'll service anyone! As for using the person's own hair from what I understand making a wig is actually super tricky and not all hair is actually good for a wig. I remember a big thing too about people who work for cancer wig charities a lot of hair that's donated doesn't get used because of the issues of not all hair working :( it's a shame really
The reason a woman covers her hair is NOT because of modesty ( if that were the case , single girls would to.) It’s because after she has a Jewish wedding - her hair is considered holy and separate . Which means it’s separate and only allowed to be seen by her husband . So it doesn’t matter what a woman covers her hair with , as long as it’s covered . It’s also important for a woman to feel and look beautiful. Every community have different customs on how they cover their hair.

A very small portion of Jews shave their head, it’s seen only in very extreme communities. People misinterpret it to be the norm, because of some shows that made it look like all Jews do these kinds of things. It’s not reality. In reality, it’s the norm for a woman to keep her hair and decide for herself whether or not she chooses to cover it.
shaving of the head isnt common at all, think wayyyyyy smaller than you are thinking. Most just put their hair up under the wig but some cut it just for convienience.

Good thing we have free will and we choose whether or not we follow them. Jews don’t follow commandments out of fear. We do it because we believe it’s good for us and the world. We don’t think we’re “going to hell” for not fulfilling a mitzvah like this
Yeah, the whole covering your hair thing is based on hiding women from fallen angels who supposedly saw womens hair and found it erotic. So basically jews require hair covering to keep their women safe from angelic uh, interference. Seems kind of ridiculous to then make the covering actual hair. 😆
These are not kosher wigs,China gets there hair from India and you all should know by now that by now that it is sacrificed at the temples.European Hair is especially expensive and would raise the price of a sheital to at least 10,000 dollars or higher and it would also have to be hand knotted which if you aren't getting children to do it will also be costly. So you simply are not a jew,and you can now wear whatever hair you like.

I am very surprised that one's own hair has to be covered and then other women's hair is worn and shown instead. I do not get it.
The mitzvah is technically called Kisui HaRosh: (Completely)Covering the head. With anything, really. Football helmets. Fabric. Styrofoam. Ceramic. Plaster. Or wigs.
@@Lia-hd7rh exactly, it is a loophole. She's supposed to cover her hair, but now covers hair with hair. Nonsense

The wigs are so beautiful ❤️
The men don’t cover their hair unless they’re going to temple. Even then it’s a hat they wear. You can still see their actual hair .

Like if you truly believe that a married woman’s hair is private and only for her husband, then are they making sure they are getting hair only from unmarried women across the world? I’m totally fine in women finding loopholes for things, and I’m happy for them. I just wonder sometimes how much sense it makes.
How Do You Know "For Sure"The Hair Haven't Been Used For Idol Worship!!!!
They don’t lol I doubt the supplier is being completely honest about the hair’s origin. They’re just trying to make a sale.
The owners examine and often reject hair that doesn't meet their standards.

modesty in dress is recommended but
salvation doesn't depend merely on your dress & hair style.
Your salvation depends on your beliefs, intentions & your actions
therefore it is absolutely necessary for salvation that one should exit from world with truth & clear consciousness
"Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness-with good works." why brother with modesty if it's all lost as soon as you put a braid in your hair or wear your engagement ring.

prophets & books haven't been sent to bring a revolution in hair style
The primary purpose of sending books & prophets is to help you succeed in after life.
Religion recommends practices which will be beneficial for u after death, in a nutshell prepares u to exit the physical world with true beliefs & knowledge & perfect state to face challenges of next dimension
Where u are born,or wheathet u follow orthodox or not or u don't follow anyone at all,
what is relevant & important is, in which state, mindset & believe u exit from this world to face challenges of next dimension
this is going to create your hell or heaven
Modesty in Judaism isn’t just about dress, that’s just a fraction of it. Modesty also means how a person acts in public, not making themselves the center of attention and acting out in public.
Ministry college students here, salvation isn't gained or dependent on your actions, or intentions. It is given to you when Jesus died on the cross. You can either accept Him and accept salvation or you can reject Him and reject salvation. The Bible does not state that salvation depend on good works. But if I misunderstood your comment, I am sorry. It's hard to convey emotion and feeling through text, ESPECIALLY through social media.

So they cant show their hair but they can show their wig?
Yeah, that seems about right! It’s private, but it wasn’t private when they were dating!
Well put.
“Idolatry is the worship of an idol or idols-objects or images, such as statues, that are worshipped as the representations of deities or gods”

@@lv4230 they won't answer because they know they're being a hypocrite by doing so
The reason a woman covers her hair is NOT because of modesty ( if that were the case , single girls would to.) It’s because after she has a Jewish wedding - her hair is considered holy and separate .

Oh i see.. do you know why this few extreme communities do it?
@@TheJessicahammerly it’s either out of convenience and became their tradition or just an extreme belief of a woman doing it just in case covering her hair isn’t enough. I think religion has to many rules
Good thing we have free will and we choose whether or not we follow them. Jews don’t follow commandments out of fear. We do it because we believe it’s good for us and the world. We don’t think we’re “going to hell” for not fulfilling a mitzvah like this
Do they shave their head underneath, otherwise where does all their hair go?
Most women don’t shave (except for some very specific communities who have the tradition). There are special wig caps that hold the hair

Please Don't take my comments on the negative side Im going it for a kiddush hashem meaning bto raised g..d holy name i think it's just to make clear people don't understand.yes it's very good thing to provide Jewish women with nice hair covering like nice looking wigs.im from a religious sector of Jewish community but I'm not from the extremities my wife does wear a wig n I do convenience her to get a longer wig for me to her look good But..I need u to take in consideration that that kind of length of wigs like over the chest does not even come close to prefill the will of g..d n the Jewish law of hair covering
👍🏼👍🏼
After the first time or so she kept saying "in Judaism" without specifying orthodox, which isn't accurate for non orthodox, even practicing, jews so that was kind of frustrating.
Religion is so so dumb omg
Another thing that’s dumb is not respecting people for what they believe when their not asking you to convert just to let them be
Facts
@@odeleya1768 Dw, Jews don’t let gentiles convert anyway. They’re the chosen ones, the rest of us are peasants.
@@zed3063 really? Seems like you need a lesson on Judaism. We don’t force or annoy you to convert, because we believe you don’t need to be Jewish to complete your own mission in life and gain reward afterwards. But if you choose to convert, a rabbi must turn you away 3 times to make sure you are serious and you’re not gonna quit when things are hard. We take our religion and laws very seriously, it’s not enough to just believe, you need to act and turn your life around. If you wanna convert, be my guest, but don’t complain about us gatekeeping our culture.
Society hates it when Christians or Muslims push their beliefs on people (as do I), yet hate it when Jews leave them alone. Make up your mind.
@@odeleya1768 “Hate it when Jews leave them alone” hahahaha mate, you are so deluded. You don’t leave anyone alone, you think you’re the chosen ones and the majority of Middle Eastern land should belong to you. Go read about your own religion. As for Muslims and Christians, don’t act like you aren’t all from the same root, you’re all bloody awful and you’re basically the same.
Islam teaches us to cover our hair as well for similar reasons. The only difference is that we used cloth to cover it.
many jewish women also use scarves! it just kinda puts us at higher risk of hate
❤
💯❤️
If their hair was truly special to them they wouldn't cover and damage it.
I think it's stupid to cover your perfectly good hair with someone else's hair. I understand the reason behind it but I could never be religious. Too many dumb rules
Tallie is pretty. The other lady isn’t bad looking either.
"These are kosher wigs that have not been used for idol worship." I still don't get it. Also how is wearing poor Chinese women's hair when your own hair is fine ok?
How did this tradition start? Is it because of anti-semitism in Europe where being veiled was not safe?
yep
Counterintuitive
No this channel is starting to make sense
Sounds…hot
So u look more pretty to avoid male’s gazing at you 👀
Wtf is this
Hair covering has a deeper meaning than “superficial” modesty. It isn’t to “avoid a male’s gaze” but rather to remind the married woman and her surrounding of her status as a wife.
Of course in Judaism there’s the added aspect of modesty of the body which is really meant to cover up the body and not flaunt it for all to see.
Hair covering is a completely different category
Interesting 🤔 but no thanks.
Let's not forget each wig I see there are minimum $10,000. Lowest maybe $8,000.
The purpose of covering your hair IS to cover the whole aspect of hair. What is the point of covering your hair WITH HAIR ??? The main reason of covering your hair is to hide the beauty of it...
wrong! the main purpose of covering your hair is for modesty, not to hide the beauty of it. Sheitels are used almost as a wedding band or ring to show your dedication to your marrage.
@@isabrookbanks4118 someone who doesn't understand basic English....
I’m sure that hair is not ethically sourced. I feel bad for the women who were underpaid or robbed of their hair after watching SHADY.
