Just wanted to thank you for taking the time and putting these videos up. Several of your videos have saved me time and aggravation. Big learning curve of these types of repairs and you've made it pain free. Hats off brotha!

I was looking for thorough, step-by-step instructions... This was EXACTLY what I needed. THANK YOU!!!!
At first I thought I would want to hear instructions too - but once I got working on the project, the visuals were totally clear and I appreciated the action being sped up.
Also thanks for the link to the Crank Puller. That was a cheap investment, well worth the price compared to paying for repair.
I fixed my wife's rower. Thanks man.

Thank you so much for this video! Even though I had a service technician that came out to replace my ripped pull strap - they didn’t have their vice grip.. so they pulled back the rollers by hand as much as they could which left the strap very loose on the return (which screwed up the resistance too. He said “it’s always like that, there’s nothing to do”). Being the exact opposite of a handy man, I’d been helpless without your video (I also had none the tools needed until today :) ). I had to unroll the new strap since they also installed it wrongly and added a bump on the return.
One thing though - the only way I could get the strap as tense as it used to be was to stretch the bungee cord after rethreading it(before releasing the vice-grip) . And when stretched I remained with a too long left over which I had to cut (like 3”) since it didn’t fit into the casing. It seems I still have the entire pull length and The machine feels like new now. Thanks!

This video was great, exactly what I needed to fix my rower. The next repair I'll need to make it to replace the bungee cord. I took about three feet off of the thing in order to get my rower working again.

A few things (I have done this 5 times on my own):
    1. Remove the bar from the strap before starting the replacement. You can then slip the strap in easier and wrap it around the wheel by hand. No need to remove the bungee.
    2. Do not use power tools on the plastic parts (my recommendation). The screws are connected by plastic. And this will strip the plastic if you aren't careful.

Hello, sorry... What do you mean by this, "Remove the bar from the strap before starting the replacement."?

    • @kidjayhawk
      @kidjayhawk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@rubencarpio4225 the handle has the strap around it. The strap is held in place by these two plastic rings. The plastic rings have a screw to keep them in place. Unscrew one of the rings. Slip it off. Might have to slip off the padding grip. And so you are just working with a fabric strap. You can easily wind the strap around with the bar off.

Thanks helped make a difficult job easier; pretty sure I will have to replace the strap again since they only seem to last approx. 1 year so next time should be basic now I understand the layout. iFit wanted to charge me $60 for a new strap which includes another handle; nothing wrong with my existing handle and they would not just sell the strap. So I went to Bunnings and bought 10m of strap for $6 and made my own. I will say you definitely need the crank puller tool tried to do the job with both side intact and it is almost impossible, $25 for the tool and job finished in 20min.

Thanks so much for this. Just finished replacing the strap and it seems to be working fine.
I’m not much of diy person and it was my first time working on this machine, so it took me about 2hrs.
Question for the pros here: is it my imagination or is the machining, fit etc on this machine crap?
To the newbies, it’s not as daunting as it looks at first. Keep track of the screws, they’re different sizes for the various attachments spots.
Also, removing the flywheels with the crank puller looked complicated to me, but it was actually really straightforward. I used a Park Tool CCP-22 Crank Puller ($20 on Amazon), but I know now I could’ve used a $7 version. To remove the nut on the crank, a 14mm socket worked just fine.
Have to say, very satisfying to have done this myself. Let’s hope it stays fixed.

Could you please share how was your experience ordering a replacement pull strap and another other online store to get those from ?, Norditrack should
Make these parts fairly easy to get from any major retailer like Amazon

I changed the strap with a screwdriver. You do not need to take off the two fan blades. So no need for the crank pulley. Once the cover is off you tip the machine on its side and then carefully pull the strap out, get the metal pin, and the carefully insert the new strap into the slot. You then wrap it 16-17 times around the axle, and then feed the end thru the rollers (forgot to add these you must disassemble the handle from the strap - very easy to do. It took me an hour to do this including the time to figure out the alternative to disassembling the machine.

    • @jordanmurphy2032

This comment is good advice but time consuming at that , the amount of time your gonna spend finnesing that strap just isn't worth it
And if anybody looking for a crank puller the tool this man is using is technically not a crank puller, it's a bike crank pulley, you will probably not find this at your tool store but bike shops will have them ln stock

thanks for this video, I'm in the exact situation.....I actually got the new strap threaded in BUT the bungie cord is messed up somehow and when you row the strap, it doesn't pull back in. So I'm pretty sure I need to take the fan blade casings off...BUT I cannot find a drill bit or ratchet head that will fit to pull the lug nut off (right before you use the crank puller tool). Would you mind sharing which tool you're using in 2:01-2:21 in the video to take the nuts off? None of my heads are thin enough to fit between the round casing hole and the nut. thanks!
