      Do the Scorpion belted tires still fit if I have the upgraded 17mm aluminum hexes or will they scrape something?

    Those stock tires are anything BUT good. The ballooning is CRAZY, I just replaced the rear tires and now I have to replace the front and it's only day three of having it

    Very nice... thanks! Haven't heard of the powerhobby tires... a nice option slightly smaller than stock where the Proline belted are slightly bigger...
    Been doing some "research": O/D for a range of belted tyres: (if anyone's interested lol)
    Proline Badlands 38: 6.8"
    Proline Trencher 38: 6.7"
    Traxxas Stock (not belted): 6.3"
    Powerhobby Scorpion (in video): 5.8"
    Proline Badlands 28: 5.07" (needs 17mm hex replacement)
    Proline Trencher 28: 4.87" (needs 17mm hex replacement)

    I got the src belted and the back wheels wobble at high speed on asphalt, anything I could do, I believe things just got loose due to all the flips and rollovers

    Id be concerned about the weight of the power hobby's. The stock plastic drive shocks break alot with stocks and from exp , weight on the wheels causes problems on big air impacts - how much do they weigh each compared to stock

  • @whitsrcleftovers2707
    @whitsrcleftovers2707 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do the power hobby come in weight wise compared to the stock tires? They're a little bigger, but are they heavier? Thanks for saving me from the mx 28's! Haha.

    I need some new tires for my maxx. I love going off roading in the rain. But the water doesn't seem to dry inside the tires. I blew two tires already after letting the truck sit for a week and using it on black top. They blew up when I gave it full throttle. Do belted tires work good if I went through water? I have an arrma infraction and I love the belted tires. lol

    • @BrentRoberts01
      @BrentRoberts01 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Belted tires should definitely help with that. A lot of people drill holes in the tread side of the stock maxx tires so the water basically gets flung out while you drive. Obviously the holes need to be small if you go that route.

  • @MarcRCAddict

    Awesome comparison video bud.. How to the belted tyres handle jumps as they seem very thin and hard?

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say the belted tires are best for fast road work as opposed to jumps, whilst they've huge grip on the loose dirt they do put all the emphasis on the suspension on jumps

  • @tenncutt
    @tenncutt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Were the Hobbypower tires you used the soft or hard rubber option?

  • @pgrcplus

    Thanks Rich! Do the Powerhobby tyres clear the shock towers on full lock?

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter I've just repaired the maxx after breaking a $3 piece of plastic, I'll try them back on it on the morning and see. I put up a test yesterday of the powerhobby tires before and after on my Redcat Landslide which you might find of use.

    • @pgrcplus
      @pgrcplus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Rich. Yeah it was that vid that made my mind up, but as extra width is on inside and my stock tyres only just clear shock tower, so not sure if these will rub - appreciate you checking. Got a little repair of my own going on with the Maxx, ceased bearing sheared the driveshaft, unusual! Nice to hear a UK voice BtW!

    • @DriftomaniacsRC

      jarrett I'd say go for the widemaxx kit at $49 it's good for the money, I've got mine nearly ready to go in the garage BUT all four hexs stuck on!!! I kid you not

    I keep cracking my rims on my maxx, it’s cold in New York now and I think it happened when it flipped going like 45mph and flipped sideways on all the wheels

    • @DriftomaniacsRC

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      not a bad sign, indeed good in someways as it shows at least the batteries been working out. Joking aside the four packs we've run show no swelling and still deliver huge punch for the $'s

  • @SebastianLong
    @SebastianLong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    At first I was like "why the heck didn't he just leave the stocks tires on and test them first?", then it hit me, he can use the drift tires in his driveway, the other tires he's probably going to use somewhere else. I'm at 2:49 in the video at the moment. Lol
