Tidy work Callum👌👏👍 When I saw the sloppy looking fence at the beginning, I thought this’ll be interesting. You’ve made a cracking job finishing that fella. Well done. Looks really good👌
Ah man! Genuinely made me light up reading that. Thank you very much. It was a tad of a risk, no strainers, no stays but I just had to work with it. It's still holding strong and tidy too 😄. Appreciate your time and comments, cheers 🍻 🤝
@@offthegridwales No worries. We’ve all this to come at future point. Every piece of knowledge that I can soak up now with the free time I have, I’m doing it👍
Much appreciated! Yeah it's quite tricky on your own. For the field fencing I started using a single tension bar....it was crazy. Still use that but just for the single top wire to finish (I don't use barb). Thanks for watching and commenting 🫶👊
Nice job! The only thing that gives me a slight pause is stapling the wire fence to the live tree beside the gatepost (3:56). Not only is it less good for the tree, as that tree grows, the wire will get embedded into the bark making it hard to remove in future. Been there, etc! Maybe an extra fencepost and a small wooden panel would be a nicer solution?
Thank you for much for you time watching and the comment. You're right. I did ponder this alot whilst doing it. I put in 4 staples (it's and very mature vertical hawthorn). I have already loosened the staples during summer and reduced it too 3. There's unfortunately nothing else I can put in there, due to the root systems (blackthorn saplings behind too). Or the fit in the tree. Trust me, I will think of more solutions to this problem. Massive thank you 🙏
@ImTejx Haha thanks. I wouldn't be jealous, it's currently in the garage for surgery. Chassis snapped 🥲🤦♂️. A true work horse though, hence why it's being repaired and not scrapped.
If you watch a few vids back, you'll see I've transplanted some from other self seeding parts of the land. Thankfully a few of the wrecked trees from the crash have started to grow back extremely slowly. I've also planted beech, willow, black thorn and Hazel. It's a patience game but in 2-5years it'll be a super dense and thick hedge/tree row again 🙂😀
😂🤣😂 I think some one would then purposefully crash through my fencing. Tbf it is a national limit. Most do around 40 going past. I just focus on the nature side of things 😊🙏
Hello Callum 🙋♂️. Hope you are good !! One ☝️ question, and a few observations !! Rather than all the walking 🚶♂️ you are doing up and down - from one end , of the field to the other - this must be tiring on its own - notwithstanding your daylight working hours is not being fully utilise and hours are being wasted !! As you “seem to be on your own” that will eventually take a detrimental effect on your health and mood with regard productivity and seeing the end of your tunnel !! Why can’t you buy 💷💷 (borrow) a decent second hand ATV and a trailer and work out your strategy better at night with regard the following day !! IE - load all the branches on the trailer and take them to one spot. (Dump) Lay out all your uprights, work out the fence lengths ect ect. Do the next task, start and finish it, without jumping from one job to the next without actually finishing any of them !! I am sure a friend or neighbour could allow you a few hours with regard free use of a tractor 🚜 !! That job with the fence should have taken you a few days, knocking the posts in with the tractor bucket, then attaching the fence. It’s taken you a lot longer, than it should !! You might run out of energy quickly if you are not careful and you will be to tired 🥱 to work - full stop !! Lastly - the entire project will eventually need to start to pay 💷 for itself - have you said how you are going to achieve this yet ?? There is a huge difference between; Character Assassination and Constructive Criticism - I think 🤔 you are intelligent enough to understand where I am coming from !! It will be interesting over the course of the coming months to see how you get on !! Get a dog 🐕 and play some music in your ears to keep you entertained during your day, and keep you spirits up, invite some of your friends along to see what you are actually achieving - and tell them to bring their wellies, 🧤 gloves, and warm clothing as they will be asked to help !! 😂 Good luck 🤞 I wish you well !! Hey James! Woah, mega comment 💪👏Thanks for watching 😄. No, no, I appreciate the comments. It's very caring to be honest. A rarity in this day and age. Instead of opinion rage haha. So, if you didn't see at the start, the videos are from around the end of 2022 🙂. It's had much work to date. So Greenfields is a home base for my wool work. www.sheepfloof.com. I don't disclose all, you're right, because it's a nightmare to film and edit so much, I just try and capture some jobs to show people 🙂. I do have a tractor but I do not want to use it on this site. The idea with this place is to do, as much as possible, by hand and basic tools. Not all, but as much as I can. Like the fence posts and wire etc. I could've easily brought tractors on with the post whacker but I'd have had to then also cut back sooooo much vital tree growth. It also adds to compaction on the land etc. It's all very personal. I think most people think I'm crazy. But it's my project and just for me 🙏😄. I hope that makes more sense? Too add there's some jobs I've started on camera, or mentioned, then I've finished then off camera. There's more I could write but hard on a tiny phone screen 🥲😂. I appreciate your words and thank you for your time James 🙂👏
Hello Callum 🙋♂️. Thanks for your prompt response. It was very much appreciated !! I am touring England 🏴 in my campervan in a month and intend to stay till end of August 2024. It’s my intention whilst in your Country to also cross into Wales 🏴. If I come across your “rug” shop I will stop and have a look 👀 at your handcrafted rugs. They sound an amazing product !! You might even be there when I get there !! I will also say hello…. Thanks 🙏 Take care and stay safe 🫶 James ✌️
Great job. Let’s hope the cars stay away now 😂😂😂😂😂

Are you going to put a tree line along the road frontage?

@@offthegridwales I will take a look mate, and yes patience is a vertue lol
I’d put a yellow camera on your land aiming @ road slow down cars
