@@bot4x202 It doesn't matter. You can try to ratcon and explain it within the confines of the story, but the fact remains: ALL bosses are aware of the player, AT ALL TIMES, not just A$$ Smasher. This is a glitch caused by dev oversight. That's it, that's all. Accept it already.
Literally this, what is Jackie and V packing at this point? Yorinobu's pistol and a ballistic coprocessor? They might as well have showed up naked lmao
From what I see, it was an issue of miscommunication: Yorinobu told Adam that he would kill Saburo, but he never told HOW he would do it. So, when Adam sees you hidden, he BELIEVES that you were there to kill Saburo. However, it was Yorinobu who wanted to kill Saburo by his own hands, and Yorinobu, thinking fast, used the clusterfuck of the theft of the biochip to put the blame on someone else. This is why Adam knows you are there, but does nothing.
Some might say it's a bug but the fact that Adam smasher is the kind of mercenary to think "hm there's people hiding in the pillar but theyre not apart of my current objective so I'm just gonna ignore them"
I almost think it's both, they might have had a terrifying character accidentally still staring at the player. On testing went "well that is freaking terrifying..lets keep it that way." And as a result drove this take on the lore, which I fully agree with. It fits Adam's personality so much, because he doesn't have to kill you now, he can choose to do it whenever he feels like.
On my most recent playthrough i noticed he stares right at you, and always made me wonder whether its intentional or not, it definitely feels eerie as fuck
There is that and also the fact that if you "get away", he can hunt you and those you work with down and possibly rack up the kill count. It isn't a successful mission for Smasher if collateral damage is minimal.
@@Kaimariification that's actually rather literal. Arasaka keeps him around on a leash and he does whatever they want, so long as he's allowed to kill anyone and everyone along his way, including women and children. Smasher is a literal Cyberpsycho at this point, a brain in a jar encased in a walking tank with enough cyberware and firepower to make just about any sane individual think 8 times over. He survived injuries that no human being alive should have been able to by being madder than a shithouse rat
From a story stand point? Adam is far more experienced and he is probably always scanning his surroundins, you as V aren't even a threat to him. So even if he thought you were a pair of assassins He would yell "ITS SMASHING TIME" and it be all over before he finished his line
Yeah he for sure saw V no doubt. I really do like the theory of it all being a set up from the beginning and Adam was just assessing V like “ so this is the guy we’re gonna blame everything on? Alright then whatever”
First playthrough I was watching the scene play out and I could just see him in the corner of my eye. I really really did not want to leave that pillar
Smasher: “If I had a penny for every time an Edgerunner enters the Arasaka Tower I’d have two pennies. Which is not a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.”
I think you were discovered twice in that scene, by Adam who was like “idgaf”, and by Goro who probably wanted a witness. Both Goro and Adam also probably knew or had really high suspicions of Old Arasaka being assassinated by Young Arasaka
It even says "unauthorized scanning" with a progress bar filling up when Takemura gets close. He TOTALLY knew we were there too. People hype Adam Smasher a lot, but forget that the bodyguard of the FREAKING EMPEROR, is Takemura. Takemura with all his implants turned on, can give Smasher a run for his money. Prime Takemura can probably solo Smasher as easily as a late game V.
@@kiophoenixyou're objectively incorrect, it's a fact that he didn't knew because it's a but in ai script since cutscene adam is the same as boss adam
@@kiophoenix Biiiig doubt. Adam Smasher is second to only Morgan Blackhand, and that wasn't even prime Adam. I doubt Goro would seriously be a match for Adam Smasher.
when I first realized smasher knew we were there it sparked a theory that it was never really about the chip but rather to lure out Saburo so that Yorinobu could kill him then have it pinned on you as scapegoat in a "heist gone wrong" and that Evelyn was in on it too. The theory makes it make sense as to why smasher didn't attack. He may have managed to notify Yorinobu that you were there so Yorinobu could kill Saburo. All of it was just to kill Saburo.
Evelyn was such a random piece in the whole heist. Like, yeah, she had access to his place- but he can’t be so stupid as to let it be that easy to know about the Relic. Just having conversations right in front of her. No ass is that good. The only thing that contradicts this theory though, is that it was his father that told Goro to leave the room mid scan.
During Evelyn's brain dance you can see that Heilman is clearly hiding in the same spot that V and Jackie are later. By switching through the thermal imaging to the audio.
The amount of cybernetics he has, he can probably feel your presence but can't think enough what to do because he ain't programmed to deal with V yet ☠️
Smasher doesn't glow red anymore in this scene. It appears it was unintended. Lorewise, it makes no sense that if Smasher could see us that he wouldn't just kill us and continue with his day.
With all that cybernetics lore wise For sure he knew you were there and also Adam first step right out of the elevator He already turned his head on you
Adam smasher staring right into your soul "Does he see us?" Dude, it's like a 5-year-old hiding behind a curtain, he knows. A good way to check would be to remove the ability for bosses to know where you are at all times and see if that function still goes off.
One eye upgrade also marks all enemies within a certain distance of you when you have the scanmer on. So even ignoring the dead on eye contact he makes with you, it's possible
It honestly makes sense if you think this as a huge Xanatos Gambit on Yorinobu's part. He had the Soulkiller engram with Johnny in it, supposedly to sell to Netwatch. A betrayal that would draw Saboru to him. But he was drawing that out, long enough for Evelyn to case the joint, realize what he had, realize it's value, hire Dex, who then hired the team to break in and steal it at the right time to be blamed for Saboru's murder. The only failure point is the fact that V escapes. There is also the point that he couldn't control the fact that V and Saburo could be there at the same time, which is where this idea falls apart. But it wouldn't be the first story that a major plot point required an absurd coincidence. But it does explain why the security in Konpeki Plaza was so bad, especially for the penthouse. Until the red alert goes off, then suddenly there are guards everywhere. Adam knew you were there, knew about the hiding spot but was under orders to not do anything so Yorinobu would have the chance to remove the last obstacle in the way of taking over Arasaka. The one chance he had to be alone with his father.
I’d like to think he knew the moment the door opened, but wanted to see what we’d do. He comes straight to the glass and looks you in the soul. He’s got the best tech in possibly the world and handles it well. I’d imagine he’s got something for every occasion. Even hidden enemies.
It's crazy watching Edgerunners getting completely destroyed but as soon as you get to endgame he is no real challenge, i love that, scaling enemies are understandable but frustrating.

Takamura would have outed V and Jack right then and there because it's his job, a duty go him. Adam wants you to sweat and squirm. Adam wants to hunt you down he relishes the fear, the pain and destruction he can cause. And what fun would it be to kill 2 unarmed guys in pillar, when he can let you almost escape, get better guns and then crush your hope by popping out at the last second to tear you limb from limb.
@@boredniko2406 Because he has a fucking contract with Arasaka. It has nothing to do with causing chaos what the fuck kind of info about Smasher ever pointed to that?

When he kills he does it fast and quick. The only time he keeps it going is when Rogue detonated herself. "he thinks I can't see him lmao"
Underrated villain. Such a mercenary that he won’t go out of his way to do something he doesn’t have to. He knows he can deal with anyone on his own terms. Like a predator, he picks when to strike, and you know his presence but not if he’ll attack immediately
And his terms are whenever he gets paid.
He’s not underrated.
What? He only accepts contracts if civilian casualties are a part of them. That's what I have read anyways, he likes what he does and he isn't afraid to have some fun with it
I dont think smasher is underrated tho. Everyone sees him for the absolute unit he is
I know in Cyberpunk he's supposed to be a sort of bodyguard merc, but it would be dope if during the game before you beat him, he had boogeyman incursions where he would drop in, fuck shit up, scare you to death and merc whatever was in his path, then high jump or such away like it was nothing.
I 100% believe Smasher saw you and I think he told Arasaka Junior that you were there so he could have someone to pin the murder on.
Arasaka junior 😂😂
That's actually a great plot point
They got caught so not rly adding up

No. His father's murder was not premeditated.
That soulless stare just amped up the anxiety factor in that mission of Cyberpunk 2077

false, it's a dev oversight
@@capybara9521I don’t even know why this is a point of contention. He can see you. There is cyberware that is readily available that give you the ability to track people through walls. Not even hear them as they have a full blown conversation.

Yea. He saw the player as a threat, he just didn’t wanna catch you just yet.
@@loserinasuit7880 No one will listen to a loser in a suit
@@austinrainbolt1029 Better change then
From what I see, it was an issue of miscommunication:
Yorinobu told Adam that he would kill Saburo, but he never told HOW he would do it.
This is why Adam knows you are there, but does nothing.
he had his own threat detector installed, so once you noticed him, he noticed you
Adam Smasher: 😐
V and Jackie: 😱😭
Cdpr: "it's an unintentional bug" also cdpr: *never fixes it*
Some might say it's a bug but the fact that Adam smasher is the kind of mercenary to think "hm there's people hiding in the pillar but theyre not apart of my current objective so I'm just gonna ignore them"
Adam smasher said: no, no, not yet. It's too easy.
Considering Adam is more borg than man, he definitely knew you were there.
You forget, Cyberpunk was not tested before release. Sorry...couldnt resist xD
He probably did see you. Because he probably has threat detector too, or some even more advanced tech. But my threat detector did not highlight him
On my most recent playthrough i noticed he stares right at you, and always made me wonder whether its intentional or not, it definitely feels eerie as fuck
Lore-wise I think he just considers you so insignificant that he doesn't consider you a threat.
and at that point of the game youre still pretty weak so yeah
"Now, I see those weirdos behind that glass, but you know what? Imma let them cook"
"Literally. Inside of that pillar is a literal furnace. Theyll burn in there and never get out."
Reminds me of the time feds raided my house and I was hiding in the fireplace 😂
Adam Smasher says in the scene that he isn't there to protect Saburu, he was their to protect his son.
From a story stand point? Adam is far more experienced and he is probably always scanning his surroundins, you as V aren't even a threat to him. So even if he thought you were a pair of assassins He would yell "ITS SMASHING TIME" and it be all over before he finished his line
I just imagine "It's Smashing time!" Followed by many explosions and gunshots.
He couldn’t be bothered to kill you since he was only being paid for guard duty.
Yeah he for sure saw V no doubt. I really do like the theory of it all being a set up from the beginning and Adam was just assessing V like “ so this is the guy we’re gonna blame everything on? Alright then whatever”
Completely incorrect and creates massive plot holes in every single character motivation.

Also this is Konpeki Plaza. Not Arasaka Tower
I like the idea that Adam just doesn't give a shit
I think you were discovered twice in that scene, by Adam who was like “idgaf”, and by Goro who probably wanted a witness. Both Goro and Adam also probably knew or had really high suspicions of Old Arasaka being assassinated by Young Arasaka

It even says "unauthorized scanning" with a progress bar filling up when Takemura gets close. He TOTALLY knew we were there too. People hype Adam Smasher a lot, but forget that the bodyguard of the FREAKING EMPEROR, is Takemura. Takemura with all his implants turned on, can give Smasher a run for his money. when I first realized smasher knew we were there it sparked a theory that it was never really about the chip but rather to lure out Saburo so that Yorinobu could kill him then have it pinned on you as scapegoat in a "heist gone wrong" and that Evelyn was in on it too. The theory makes it make sense as to why smasher didn't attack. He may have managed to notify Yorinobu that you were there so Yorinobu could kill Saburo. All of it was just to kill Saburo.

Considering Edgerunners? Sounds legit
I don't see why edgerunners should play any part in this
@@yasininn76 why shouldn't it?
Evelyn was such a random piece in the whole heist. Like, yeah, she had access to his place- but he can’t be so stupid as to let it be that easy to know about the Relic. Just having conversations right in front of her. No ass is that good. The only thing that contradicts this theory though, is that it was his father that told Goro to leave the room mid scan.
Even without the Threat Detector aspect, there's no way Adam Smasher wouldn't know you're there. I figured he just didn't care.
he moreover probably didn't say anything because it would easily pin the murder on V and jackie (which does happen)

He already turned his head on you
Adam smasher staring right into your soul
"Does he see us?"
Dude, it's like a 5-year-old hiding behind a curtain, he knows.
A good way to check would be to remove the ability for bosses to know where you are at all times and see if that function still goes off.
One eye upgrade also marks all enemies within a certain distance of you when you have the scanmer on. So even ignoring the dead on eye contact he makes with you, it's possible
Yorinobu was meant to be soboru’s next host. You absolutely were set up. Although the Johnny engram winding up in V was not entirely planned.
Mr A. Smasher: A soldier so perfect he won't act until he's given the order. 🤣
Adam Smasher's like: Whatchu got there boy? I see you're holding a relic
V and Jackie likely didn’t register as threats lol you’re so underpowered at that point it wasn’t worth it to him to even check.
This moment was awesome, I’m just now playing this game after all the updates made to the ps5 version and I gotta say this game is really fun and the characters and presentation of the game is top notch. It’s also really funny, Johnny silverhand is pretty consistently hilarious once he chills out and stops trying to murder you lol but he’s got a lot of funny one liners.
