    Alex, you just reminded me my childhood. I think all the mothers have this ability build in their DNA's. My mother was the same she was throwing the slipper and it was acting like a guided missile, you run you turn the corner and the slipper does the same and there was no way she misses, always bull's eye. So when i was naughty the first think i did at that time was to hide the slippers, but it was not enough slippers would come to her :)). Once i tought that my mother was a trained assasin. :)) Anyway it was the best time of my life, no problem, no responsibility, been young (you felt immortal and invincible) all day fun and games. it is almost 50 years past

    I will never do what you do, but love to watch you and your comments, your mother and her slipper. But in this case where you give a perspective of the penny to what you are doing just reinforces the hand coordination you have. Love this and I am in awe.

    Hey Alex from Romania. Back in my service days, whenever I came across bent pins, I used either an 0.5 or 0.7 pencil (the kind that works with cores obviously) or a ball point pen. These days, with these pitches, an 0.5 should be more then adequate. Reduces the chance of the tool slipping and sending the pin to the 9’th dimension. Try it, see how it works.

    The pins tip over because of the surface tension in the solder, when there is too much, the solder bead wil become convex, and the pin tips over. When you have too little the pin won't stick, but when you have a perfect amount, the solder wil be concave, and actually pull the pin into a perfect perpendicular position, just because of the surface tension.

    I use an old soldering tip for something like this, which I sanded down and drilled a hole lengthwise, which has the diameter of a syringe needle into which a pin fits exactly. I soldered the syringe needle into the soldering tip with silver solder and then ground the needle so that about 3.5 mm of the needle still protruded from the soldering tip.
    then i built a tripod in which the soldering iron is clamped and can position and solder any pin precisely and perfectly.

    Here's an idea. They make all kinds of power plugins, and you solder well. And batteries are generally 1.5 volts each. So if you have 2 batteries that's 3 volts. So you buy a 3 volt battery power supply, cut the end connector off. Solder it into you audio thingy and no more batteries needed. or if you want to get fancy you could install a small usb plugin by gluing one in and wiring it up. Then buy the correct power voltage plugin with that usb on the end of cord and that's it. But I think just wiring it directly would be easier and look better. But no more batteries is the main thing. And if you happen to be a environmental person that's less toxic waste.

    I fix bent pins with the ink tube from a pen, but soldering new pins on can't be fun, especially with fat stubby fingers.
    Edit: this was back during the am2, am2+ and am3 cpus, I haven't tried fixing pins on the newer cpus, they seem like they're even smaller pins.

      You'd think by now people would know to be extra careful with a CPU. But, they drop it when trying to install or set the CPU down and drop a screwdriver on it or something. All dumb stuff that is easy to avoid.

    • @deadpat6116
      @deadpat6116 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alot of these reasons are stuck thermal paste on the heatsink. When you go to pull the heatsink, the cpu is cold welded to the heatsink, so when you pull, it forces the cpu from the socket and usually falls from the heatsink. This is where education of twisting the heatsink should be advised, but some newer boards now you can't twist the heatsink unfortunately because they are mounted with through holes.

    alex, this might be a great opportunity to develop a microscopic hot tweezer for jobs like these. it would eliminate the need to use hot air and as well as eliminate the neighbor pin knock out , while making it easier. just grab the hot tweezer and pick you damage pin to grab and replace. worth a thought.
