The weirdest thing is as soon as I saw the video title and heard your introduction I knew it was probably going to be a loose inductor. I have never touched an iPad in my life let alone done any diagnostic or repair work on one. I just thought that purely from all the videos of yours I have watched over the years. Thankyou for giving a piece of your wisdom to the world. :)
Your shop works on the good word of mouth from your customers. If you do a good job everyone will know about it. I'm hooked on your videos Alex. Love your work. It's like poetry in motion.
Totally agree with the way you do business. Keep the cost low so customer doesnt have to pay more. They will help spread the word to keep your business running.
Great Alex. Five years ago, before moving from Italy to CA, I worked for an Italian company that build special electronic equipments made for weigh food for feed cows. This scales was mounted directly on the big truck. Part of the business was repair broken units. After found and fix electronic problems, the final test was the vibration stress test. This test was performed by mount the repaired equipment on a special metal frame that has a little electrical motor, solid to that frame, that has an out-of-center mass on the shaft. This motor create a strong vibration. If the device under test survived, was ready to ship back
4:14 "we are going to throw it from a third floor building and see if it restarts" 😂😂😂 That's definitely better than factory. 😂😂 Great video. Learned alot. Thanks.
man i wish we have a professional repairing shop like yours in here, nice job always informative and helpful to watch and learn new things from you wish you the best and good luck .
I have an iPad Pro I'll be sending in soon. Might wait until I head in towards LA. USB-C port is goofy. Zero cables give data. Some cables will charge if I force the cable a certain way, left and down. What's weird is not all charging ports work and some cables do nothing at all. I hope it's just the port on the iPad. Anyway these guys are the only people I would trust with my iPad!
Great to see how easy it is for someone with experience. Im still learning so my repair rate is like 60%. But getting there..Slowly ;D Thx for the video. Like it a lot. All the best from Czech Republic
Too clean of a Repair shop = a Shop not doing a lot of repairs. That should be a warning sign. Now, the shop shouldn't be disgusting, but it shouldn't be spotless. By trade, any decent repair person will have "surplus" stock available for parts. Those things need to be some where, and having it all locked up in a storage 2+ blocks away which is more money flying out the doors on real estate that is doing nothing but sitting is not a wise idea or investment.... Work/live smart.

Very good work. I guess they get broke when the ipad fall down. I can remember that a friend of mine got the same issue with an ipad after it falls on the floor at home. the manufacturer had probably changed something in the design of this important element and thus affected a whole series of ipads if they fell down too much. Thank you for that video. Greets
We had a similar issue last week. It came in for 'No blacklight, Not charging after a screen replacement'. We swapped the usual TriStar, replaced backlight diodes. Power it on, it worked great, but saw a wisp of smoke. And that same upper speaker amplifier and inductor was blown. Had to remove it and dig out the fused board layers. Finally, I couldn't find another iPad that uses that same amp. All we could do is let the customer know.

Great video as always. I'm wondering what happens if the customer calls back shortly after, saying the fixed item stopped working. What can you do in this situation?
You take it back and fix it again if within your warranty time frame. If you offer 30 days warranty and customer comes back on day 29, then you honor the warranty and you fix it again at no charge. If you can't fix it , then you offer a refund minus repair attempt bench fee.
It amazes me that all those little rectangles can do all that they can like the fact it can power my phone, I can open an app that was downloaded from the air, scroll through it, suggest me a video to watch and then I can write and post a comment out to thin air

The proper way to test it: Take it to your next house hunt tour. Find the highest tree, throw in on the lawn. (Or in the pool if you prefer.) If it still works, repeat. If it fails, deem it a no fix.
Can you give some details about temp or blow power of your hot air (which hot you use) when you remove parts and the same when you solder stuff? I can tell you have lot of skill when you do those things but for rather 'fresh solders' that might be a blessing tips. Nice repair and I hope to see more.

Hello. I am interested in hearing about your story and how you have been successful. If you have told this on an earlier video please mention which one. Or you could tell it again. If you do not want to tell those things that ok also. Thanks for your videos.
About testing methods. It depends on the device but basically I do the same stuff that customers do to their devices. For example, I pour various liquids on them, drop them on the floor (sometimes repeatedly to be sure) and use them as a dining table.
fast switching with high load or hitting a resonance frequency of the inductor may casue the infamous inductor noises as well as physical damage to inductors. internally as well as externally since the hole pcb may vibrate.
I blew an inductor off of a flight controller recently. I hadn't flown the drone in a few months and there was corrosion on the vreg. When I plugged in a 4s lipo I got the magic smoke and the inductor went goodbye.
* ALEX * If-n yo haven't off loaded those excess casings etc, there may be people out in the world who may need them, So either off load them in bulk on eBay for resellers to sell them individually or sell em yo self..
Alex I got question . As you fix for living have you ever suffered from weakening eyesight for working under microscopic components for a long time or painful skeleton for sitting long time ? I mean was this job worth to do?
Thanks for this video. I have a problem with my ipad pro 3rd generation. Sometimes restart the ipad if i open the camera on low battery at about 50%. What could be the issue?
