Gambling can assist you when you have some, but not all, the materials you need. Also, 3 purple to 1 blue is the safest way to gamble.

Yes, because it saves you time which is more valuable than waiting around to create/buy/save up the rare material.

Gold DM seems to be the more versatile. Immortal gear takes forever to produce.
