PPS. some quick 411 about me:
- I'm Cambodian and Chinese.
- I was born in November of 1983 (so I'll be 37 this year) and raised in Houston, TX.
- "OG KPOP STAN": I've always used the term "OG" (supposedly "original gangster") to define being old-school, and I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Kpop was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in my younger years and it's just stuck by me ever since.
- I was a hiphop dancer for about 7 years. I did the whole crew thing, auditioning thing, competition thing, choreography thing, dance instructor thing, so I have some experience in that field and I hope to be able to share some perspective from my experiences for y'all to see the extra things that I appreciate about a video when I point them out.
-My videos can have quite a lot of cuts in editing and/or my eyes will unnaturally blink rapidly sometimes. This is because of my neurological disease that came with my lupus nephritis (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome). My thinking abilities and speaking abilities struggle to align at times.
- Yes, that's Jack Sparrow's ring that I always wear in my videos. I've been a Pirates of the Caribbean fan ever since I rode the ride for the first time ever in Disneyland when I was a kid.🤓

Your reaction to Naughty was literally me when I first watched the video. As a retired dancer myself, it literally blows my mind how they were able to be that intricate in their moves for the entire song. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it just did 🤯🤯🤯 I think I watched the video about a hundred times that first day I saw it, and then I had to go back the day after just to get mind blown again LOL still not over it, they're amazing
I had heard that it took I&S and their backup dancers something like FIVE MONTHS to get the choreography down for Naughty! I know that is a long time! Most 'simple' dances are like two to three weeks, aren't they? I am not a dancer so I don't know. I am actually asking.
The difficulty level and just the creativity of Naughty's choreography is insane. To add up also not only muscle memory but also coordination is needed since they are singing too. They had to be stable all throughout and even find the freaking camera in music shows just so much to put your mind into. Just wanna share this since I really get excited every time a legit dancer reacts to them.
It took them 1 month to learn the basics of tutting at least 10 individual lessons and then they started to learn the choreography after. It took 2 months to make the choreography and spent 4-5 months for the overall preparation before its release according to their choreographer Spella and Shim Jaewon (who is also the choreographer of the iconic pre debut Be Natural performance of the duo, you should definitely check it out.)
Listen as much as i love them, there is no way in HELL they sung this live while tutting. As talented as they are it is virtually impossible theres absolutely no way. Still one of the best choreographies i’ve ever seen

Monster is a divisive issue amongst the inner circle of the local lgbtq+ activists.
It's a conversation still being held until now.

For me Red Velvet, Dreamcatcher and LOONA are the holy trinity when it comes to choreography (each at their own level of small, medium and big group) and discography (no filler in their albums, all their b-sides have a quirk and an intent). If you are looking for groups going in uncharted territory, doing their own thing and being the best at it, it does not get much better than that right now.

I'm not sure if I would agree. Red Velvet recently took over for me as my ultimate ggroup (over MMM, which took over after 2ne1 disbanded), but their choreography is okay but not great. Now Seulgi and Irene are out of this world, but Joy, Wendy and Yeri are just average, which is fine for me as they are a vocal driven group. For me, it would have been GFRIEND, but in their last few releases I'm not sure if they were choreo heavily as they were back with songs like Rough (2016).
@@casualsuede RV are often underestimated choreography-wise because their more popular title tracks are usually not that hard, but stuff like Dumb Dumb, Rookie and a few others are utter madness. Also their songs are very demanding vocally and unlike most other groups, their chorus are often a 5 voices harmonie effort which means nobody gets to catch a breath for very long. Irene and Seulgi are top notch, but it does not mean that the rest of the group is not close behind imo.

yeah! If im not wrong Irene and Seulgi said that it took them like 1 month to learn basics and another 5 months to perfect the entire dance
Make sure to include the backup dancers too, they are definitely not lazy! They had their work cut out for them here! :)

@@AnastasiaRBLX I did not hear about that but after seeing this, I don't blame her for wanting to move to something else. I bet they both had a huge sigh of relief when this did not get promoted.
Imagine that; the MAIN Dancer wants to quit because of the difficulty...that's actually hard to imagine, specifically because it is Seulgi. I am guessing that it was Irene herself who convinced Seulgi to keep at it? And you know the choreo had to be hard on her, too... That really is God-tier dedication. :)

Naughty's choreo is just insane, maybe the best girl group choreo I've ever seen.
Your face the ENTIRE Way through Naughty was mine, because HOLY SHIT TUTTING IS HARD...Especially when you throw voguing elements into it. That's how much power Irene and Seulgi have.
Red Velvet is one of those groups that keep you wondering what they're going to do. Queens of concepts, vocals, visuals, b-sides (seriously, their b-sides are the best of the best). You should give them a chance.

Red Velvet has one of my favorite discographies. I got into them in around 2018(I got into kpop around 2007 and took a break from kpop after 2NE1 disbanded T-T) Groups like Red Velvet and Dreamcatcher got me back in.
They actually have one of the best coreogrphies, not just in kpop.

if you watch it closely, Irene's tutting lines are better than Seugli's, its crazy and proves how hard she works (she's 29 and still moves like the younger girls in the industry)

and yeah Red Velvet is know as the Vocal Queens of the 3rd Gen. They established that title along with the "Best Idol Group Alive" from Billboard music.
I only stepping into kpop around 2017 but Red Velvet and LOONA are def my two ult groups, they both have an exceptional discography...TOP 2 groups for me for sure.

There is a dance practise for naughty so that might be better to not have the visuals distract as much. But yeah both these songs are amazing, also seulgi solo song uncover has choreo too. Irene and seulgi are definitely the main dancers of red velvet.

Spella helped with the Tutting choreography of this M/V It is said, they worked for five months on the basics of tutting, then a month on the choreography of this video.
This first sub unit of Red Velvet came, conquered and killed it 💯🔥 Suelgi the main dancer got to show off her vocals while Irene the main rapper got to show off her dance skills.. Literally queens from the beginning ❤️💛... But then again they are All queens💜💚💙

I'll just add a little to this and say that Ep 1 is a solo (kinda) dance clip with Irene and Ep 2 is a preview of Seulgi's solo song Uncover (which I love) and some more great dancing.

Yaaas Thina I was hoping you'd check out Naughty because of your dance background! The tutting takes my breath away every time I see it and the fact that Irene and Seulgi had never tutted before working on the song just *mind blown* This sub unit completely blew all expectations out of the water. You should definitely check out the rest of their mini album even just for yourself, there's 3 more bops and Seulgi ends it with her solo track that is slower and really beautiful. And ugh they look so damn good it's criminal, I want to personally thank whoever put Irene in that dress and exposed Seulgi's back :') My gay ass isn't even going to get started on Monster lmao. Another great reaction, keep it up!

Psycho was my first kpop girl group song and it changed my whole entire perspective on kpop and kpop girl groups.. Trust me, you will not regret it! :D

Not sure if it's been commented but that move where they do a reverse dip and her face changes to the monster/demon, she actually hurt her back which delayed the release of the M/V and live comeback show.
ok do I am an avid subscriber for a while now, but clearly after this video came out and it was soooo fun to go back and watch this. I go through Naughty video phases every now and then where I watch the video at least once daily and some reactions to it haha :D I am not a dancer but I've been feeling like I just... I'm so obsessed with this song and choreo that I feel like I'm going to have to slowly drill pieces of this choreo a tiny snippet at a time because I want to have another way to enjoy it basically. It was cool to hear you describe how doing tutting felt therapeutic for you to see the lines and shapes happening, very cool.

The Irene drama was bad but she apologised and hopefully that can be the end of it because she is a font of talent that has long been relegated to just "the visual". For me - in order - she's a dancer, vocalist, rapper THEN visual.
Her visuals may be insane, but her dancing is just so UNDERrated, also, I think that maybe the rapper could've came first instead of the vocalist, because she's a really good rapper :)
