For those who are debating ... technically, this is a mashup of 3 dance styles. it is partly traditional clogging steps that are not totally executed in the traditional form, but also has some "cheer-dance" steps mixed in which are in traditional form. Also they are mixing in some traditional square-dance steps that are simple traditional square-dance steps done in traditional form. And some of the square dancing steps are done with added clogging effect and some just the basic square dance steps. (square dance is not clogging per se, but you can perform clogging steps as you square dance if you know how). I grew up square dancing and clogging and my daughter took ballet & tap, and cheer-dance for her pomms squad - so I recognized those too. Square dancing comes from the Scottish and Irish reels that would take place at festivals that the commoners held.
So was I and you are 100 percent correct in everything you said. I danced exhibition with the Fontana Ramblers in a Resort for several months back in the days when we didn't have names for the steps. The team leader would demonstrate and we had to memorize what to do... It was lots of fun and is wonderful exercise.
This IS clogging. It doesn't matter what type of shoes they are, it's all in the taps on the bottom of the shoe. A clogging tap is composed of two pieces put together with screws, as you dance the two pieces hit each other. A tap shoe has just one piece on the sole of the foot. The tapping sound is different because you only here a sound as the tap hits the floor, with clogging taps, there is more sound because the taps hit each other, AND the floor. I was a clogger for many years!

The shoes are correct for clogging. I believe wooden clogs are used for clog dancing. Not the same thing. These people are very good.
